    0815?

I think Elysium looks neat. I liked District 9 well enough I guess, but I've only seen it twice, and the last time was about two years ago. There's a lot of parts in it that just squick me out and prevent me from really wanting to see it again.

Mostly the main character's transformation into a disgusting bug alien, with parts of his body practically falling off. Yech. And he doesn't even get to become human again which is just depressing.

District 9 is awesome, and the metamorphosis of the protagonist is what really makes it unique. Based on what I've seen of Elysium, it'll be a decent sci-fi flick, but the storyline has been done before. It reminds me of an anime I watched in the 90s - Battle Angel Alita.

Uh well, about that last part...there is a District 10 in the making so we don't really know how that turns out. As for your other issue. I can understand your disgust but to me that was part of what made is a great movie, the realistic way it all happened. The dog food part was hilarious in my opinion.

Oh sry.. that is a German idiom. Means standard, nothing special. Wanted to say that I don´t think that Elysium will bring new ideas or even use the existing ones very well.

I've always wondered why Germans say 'Nullachtfünfzehn' to express this idea of something being unimpressive. What the hell is it a reference to?

To the MG 08/15 used in WW1. There a few explanations why it developed into an idiom.

    1. Every day the soldiers had to do long, very boring drills with the weapon.

    2. It was the first standardized machine gun in Germany...and in fact the DIN (German Industrial Norms) were created at the same time.

    3. The quality in the later models varied so it was the normal one with nothing special.

There's an awful lot of people not talking about how fucking amazing Pacific Rim was in here.

Gipsy Danger died for your sins you ungrateful motherfuckers.

If I did not want to see this, my girlfriend, or my mother, or my little sister would force me to see this. But it's a happy day, because I can't wait, this looks like something I will watch so many fucking times.

Apparently Assange has already come out and said that he dislikes everything about the movie from what he's seen in the trailers, which is amusing in a twisted sort of way. Odds are that the film actually shows Assange as the semi-delusional asshole that he was, and hopefully the direction supports that rather than deifying him.

Plus, it's Benedict Cumberbatch and David Thewlis. That's enough to get me in the theater.

I'll be quiet honest, Pacific Rim didn't do much for me. I went to the theater stoned so the action was incredibly stunning but good god was the acting painful to watch. I'm talking real life face-palming. Pretty much since Avatar I've realized most everything is possible to make in Hollywood. So as cool as it looked and even with the small amounts of humor, I was bothered by the acting and overall story construction far too much for it to be enjoyable.

I did cringe a few times at the main cast and their interactions, especially during that hand-to-hand scene, but the scientists and the fight scenes were so fucking phenomenal that I'm thinking of seeing it again tomorrow.

Are you people criticizing Idris Elba?

About the film: Possibly the best action scenes of all time. Coupled with the music, I shivered at some of the action scenes with more impact. I will be so disappointing if this turns out to be a flop like Dredd (another film everyone should see.)
