The Ron-Lee scene comes from a fic in the Library. If you read the fic you would understand it.

It's also hard to get emotionally invested when you read so much different versions of the same story. At some point almost everything just gets a "oh, it's that again" response. And if you don't like it, you can search for another version.

I also find it hard to remember what exactly happened, it just sort of blends together. And when I can remember a full story, I can't remember it's name or where I found it.

I found To Fight the Coming Darkness and the beginning of Delenda Est gripping, but in the "something is happening" sense, not as a grand reveal or feeling, even though TFtCD had a lot of grand scenes. I remember a sense of inevitability in Backwards with Purpose, even if I can't remember much of the story.

Well, turns out I'm kind of a pansy. I've cried while writing before (I admitted it in the A/N), and I cry when I read certain well-written abused!Harry stories. Not the actual abuse, mind you, but the part where Harry finally confesses what happened to him and shows somebody the cupboard. Shit gets me every time. It's been a while since I've read one but I think Brutal Harry by LordsFire comes to mind.

Don't ask me why, but the Alexandra Quick series was the second piece of fanfiction I'd ever read, so I have rather fond memories of the first three. The Lands Below was the most emotional for me; as soon as I finished it I couldn't help but blaze through The Deathly Regiment, and then to have (your spoiler) happen...

When said ancient ancestor finds out what actually happened to her son, and when she realizes that Harry is descended from her.

Sheesh. A thousand years worth of regret right to the face.

The Substitute by Bajab. The whole thing is a bit of a kick in the guts, but the ending is especially heartbreaking.

In addition to this, I would say it is also the fact that fanfiction is episodic. It completely breaks the emotional attachment if you don't have the entire story to read at once or in a few sittings. Shit, half the stories I thought were amazing a few years ago, I don't even care what happens to the characters, I just want to know the resolution.
