A Secret of Spells is quite good. The writing itself is technically proficient, and the author is unusually reserved in how they're managing the crossover (which is a good thing). A lot of crossovers are absurd (wizards blasting their way through Westeros), or end up with the crossed over characters instantly becoming best friends and telling their whole life stories to the natives. In this one they can't even speak the same language.

Definitely going to keep following it.

 

The authors other fandoms don't inspire much hope but I'll take a wait and see approach with this fic.

 

It's pretty decent. Slow as shit, but I like it. I've been keeping up with it.

I like this. Only a oneshot, about Hermione being 'reborn' in Westeros as Mikken's daughter. I'd actually give it a 5, if there were more chapters. But thst might just be because I like the brief smut.

I am somewhat surprised by the general lack of ASOIAF-GOT/Discworld crossovers. I would think that given their relatively similar settings (or at least more similar than to, for instance, Harry Potter) it would make some sense. For one thing injecting a little more humor into Westeros couldn't be a bad thing. For another I think there's quite a lot of places where a story could get started. Moist von Lipwig replaces Littlefinger as the Master of Coin or the Unseen University is a competing organization to the Maesters. Or the Lancre coven against Melisandre. I mean Ankh-Morpork practically sounds like a free city in Essos.

 

I didn't like it either but I'd hardly call her a slut. Jon left for the Wall, there was no promise of waiting for him to come back, if he ever did.

Not often but I do see him giving girls the Lord's Kiss from time to time. Mostly Sansa, Val or Jeyne. Sometimes Daenrys.

 

Both HP crossovers seemed interesting, though at the same time didn't get me particularly hooked to see more at this stage.

A Secret of Spells seems like it'll turn into a typical crossover once Harry and Hermione learn to speak the language. They'll join the Starks, use their magic to fix everything (Come on, Ned thinks they were sent by the Gods) and so on. Not really expecting much.

If Flowers Grow in Winter is a bit more interesting. Similar idea to The Prince Who Was Promised in premise - with Hermione not quite being Hermione, but rather Mara with vague memories of being Hermione (and remembering more as she grows older). This I'm a bit more interested in, though if the focus remains to be just smut, it probably won't reach its full potential. It'll probably end up turning very Mary Sue-ish at this rate.

Also regarding Hermione being a slut, I thought part of it was also because of the previous scene:

So dunno how much you can blame her. Further because, as mentioned before, Jon has gone off to swear off women forever.

 

He had the girl. He chose not to seal the deal. Did he not know he could pull out? Or that she could take moon tea?

So what Lady Catelyn doesn't want him around - fuck her. I'd have stayed just to spite her. A lord's bastard is good enough for a blacksmith's daughter. Especially Ned's bastard; he had so much more open to him than a shitty life on the Wall.

I wouldn't call Hermione a slut either - she was a virgin when she laid with Robb, I don't know any sluts who can say they only just lost their virginity. If she had fucked Theon too, then she could be termed a slut.

 

for i have loved the stars too fondly is an okay crossover oneshot. Dominique Weasley goes to the Wall. I'd give it 3/5.

Pretty much nothing happens other then her making new friends and falling in love with Jon. Her attempted suicide over Teddy not going out with her is kind of ridiculous.

But it is readable and the characters behave realistically, which can only be said to be true for Prince Who Was Promised, the Hermione oneshot, and this.
