A rather empty chapter of Shokugeki no Soma

 

Yeah, I expected a little bit more from the climax of this arc, and for Souma to have one last chance to absolutely kill it in order to make up for barely scraping by in the egg buffet test.

 

I stopped following Freezing because the MC is literally more pathetic and useless than Shinji.

MangaCow translation just doesn't feel up to par sometimes... but The Company is so damned slow with their releases.

 

I think it's pretty obvious that Rachel is here to ruin everything for everyone now. Michelle in Xia Xia's round, now we have a Michael, and those two hooded figures who walked past Viole. I'll be very (and pleasantly) surprised if it doesn't happen, but right now I'm not all too optimistic about Baam getting the happy ending I think he really needs this arc for the sake of preserving his sanity.

I thought Michael might be Michael the Missionary from FUG who infiltrated Koon's team.

Though it should make sense for him to be hiding his face, too... unless he's confident nobody knows about him and Apple (which is simply not true - Novik and Ran should at least raise questions when they seem them, even though they don't know what exactly happened).

I really don't think Baam will be meeting Rachel so soon. The tension needs to build up far more than this. SIU is probably just trolling.

 

I think he'll just briefly see her, enough to rekindle his drive to catch up with her as that goal seems to have lapsed a little bit. But a full reunion between Baam and Rachel would be extremely premature and SIU is a better storyteller than that.

 

Really I just want to see Baam pursuing this 'I don't want to be a tool' ideology a bit further.
As in really what did bunny girl expect that after ruthlessly being manipulated and having his friends threatened Baam would just roll over and start handing out gifts to everybody who claimed to be from the FUG?
Really sometimes Baam is a bit predictable, you can just see him thinking about being the nice guy and choosing the third option; the one that leaves everyone (but him) happy. Angry Baam is a nice alternative.

 

Ironically, I picked Freezing back up after reading this; re-reading it and continuing where I left it (somewhere around chapter 70-80).

Is Kazuya even the MC? It feels more like he was a plot device to introduce the story and other characters who then gets shafted so Satellizer takes center stage and he becomes the love interest.

Freezing: Suppose it can be argued that way. Personally don't care much. I dropped that shit ages ago and have no intention of ever picking it back up.

Cooking time...only this chapter includes zero cooking whatsoever. Fairly boring chapter, though I suppose it was necessary for the plot.

 

It was somewhat predictable that Soma's Dad would have been a high ranking student. Nice to finally see someone make the connection.

 

Tower of God.

Boring chapter, I thought. But then I'm not all too interested in the fights in this series, and that's basically all we got this week. The usual cliffhanger fell a bit flat too.
