Yeah, that killed us. I knew I was going to die if Menace wasn't lynched. I feel a little bit vindicated that Rents was scum though.

Edit: Thanks for running this Eid. It was interesting to play a game of mafia with a closed setup.

There's something I read over at ChocoPi's forum in which he talks about how having all the roles being influenced by some sort of motivator/bard being bad, but honestly it's very different in a game like this and I thought it looked super fun and I was super excited when you told me about it.

Thanks for modding Eido, it was pretty fun for me at least. :p

Yeah probably. It was spur-of-the-moment crazy.

It depends on what you are trying to accomplish with the game design - it is a bad role in a 'competitive' game, where the objective is 100% equality and player skill winning out above all else. Which is more the design intent behind witch hunt or tinyhunt - but it's a fun, enjoyable role that adds an extra element to the game play, and makes a fully powered clusterfucky game like this have more depth.

I wouldn't put it in most setups I run, but when I was challenging myself to make no vanillas, and a high powered, swingy, but still balanced game, it felt like a good fit.

It was a good fit. At least, it would have been a lot cooler if Sesc hadn't gotten shot n1 xD

eido: ping me on irc, I wanna get my ass kicked in chess

This was a hilarious game to watch.

I would be one of the guys to argue against replacements. The problem is simply being unable to question a replacement about the previous players logic. As a result a lot of these replacements get a clean bill when they shouldn't. I'm talking to Smile right now and he suggested only having replacements on Day 1. That doesn't sound like a horrible idea to me. Just something to consider.

Overall Eidolonic was pretty awesome. The set up was great. It's just a shame the activity levels didn't do it justice.

Shout out to Sesc's QT. It's great.

I agree completely. For all that I bitched about scum lurking I was nowhere near as active as I should have been. It was an awesome set up, Eid and I really didn't do it justice.

@Eido: How about having a "Daychat Enabler" that enables Daychat only when a particular scum is alive?

Also loved the Inventor role, btw. Player choice is awesome in mafia.

Too high variance. If Daychat Enabler's hit really quickly, then mafia's gimped for the rest of the game. If he's never hit, then mafia retains all its daychatting glory.

Realistically, for best possible results in terms of balancing, you'd have to hit him day 3 or something, which would dramatically increase the difficulty curve for mafia, without exponentially increasing it.

At the same time, this encourages lots of mafia contigency planning.

Also there seems to be ways around day chatting. I'm sure that someone can come up with a reliable way to code messages in the forum via night chat confirmation, which would make this whole point kind of moot anyway.

Schro: I don't think you can talk.
And that's not vindication, it's defeat.

    Scum (especially Menace): Congrats.

I said Schrodinger was simply being himself from the start, thank you very much. SotK was the goddamn lock-in for a lynch. No way he should have not gotten lynched, whatever other info you had. His scummieness was off the charts >.<
