Unless everyone on this mission dies, it's going to happen.

And I agree completely Fatality. It was either laser Aster to death for 100% kill or throw her out of the window and hope for a 5% trigger chance or a 95% death rate. Sadly, Gray Boy didn't give her the chance.

Also, poor Nilbog is still nailed to the wall. Since you're handing out mercy bullets, how about giving the guy a hand, Taylor?

I consistently find it funny that he was called Armsmaster when he had two, but lost the name at the same time he lost the arm.

Freakin Gray Boy. Affecting Scion just seems so strange to me. Nothing has ever touched him before, and now this?
I'm sure there's a good explanation, but seriously:
    1. Scion's broken Eidolon's conceptual forcefield when fighting Behemoth, on par with Clockblocker's freezing power, with a single beam. That's the most impressive thing to me, it indicates his beams have a 'conceptual' property if that makes any sense.

    2. Has never been damaged before.

Plus, I've always gotten the feeling Scion isn't really a parahuman like everyone else. He's more of a an Endbringer.
Regardless, can't wait for more on this arc.

Remember, this is all from Theo's perspective. It's possible things aren't as bleak as they seem to be.

EDIT: Also, on an unrelated note, just noticed this. Not sure what to think, but I decided to share its existence with everyone. The characters seem pretty off, but the potential for lolz is great.

Sorry, what? Have I missed something?

I didn't read that and I couldn't find it upon checking back.

Agree with Garden. I know Wildbow has maintained that powers don't just work on some 0-10 scale and a seemingly smaller power can take out a powerful parahuman, but Scion was always implied to be a cut above the rest. Forget parahuman, he never seemed human. He's been fighting Endbringers non-stop for decades, never seems to rest etc, etc. And now, he's taken out by a clone of Gray Boy.

Oh, btw, as someone in IRC noticed, the real Gray Boy might be a patient of Yamada. Mentioned in this interlude

Don't forget that Scion interacted with Weaver first. It's possible that he's allowed himself to be caught intentionally. The only reason he hasn't broken free is that he hasn't tried yet.

Dinah used up a question with the other group too. What's the bets that Weaver asked her whether Scion getting involved would be good or bad?

Precogs don't work when Scion gets involved though.

Could you quote the part that hints to the original Gray Boy being her patient? I skimmed the interlude but I didn't find it. That would definitely be interesting if it's true.

I agree that Scion being affected by Grey Boy's power is kind of bullshit, but I'm withholding judgement until the next chapter to get a better perspective on what's actually happening.

I had a similar thought. Keep him in that time loop would be a great way of keeping Jack from influencing him.

Okay, whatever, you all seem to have read it.

All you people are talking about Scion deciding not to go in again the SH9 members but... Scion is simply not that discerning. He doesn't choose when or where he helps, he just helps somewhere.

Leviathan has been tagged by Clockblocker, but Scion's never been harmed by anything. The Endbringers have been damaged plenty of times.

He has a powerful set of powers that let him do a lot of things that would be otherwise impossible, but he's not God. Some powers can still sneak through, and power nullification has been demonstrated to work on beings that are otherwise immune to attack.

    I don't think that's true regarding Scion. I don't think he's a regular parahuman. I think he's something else entirely.

I think there's more to his apparent trapping than meets the eye.

I used to think that, but I've come to the conclusion that he's either a prototype Cauldron cape or an Endbringer-type thing. Probably the former because he acts like a human, if a disabled one. Also, we have been shown some powers that get around nullification/immunity. This may just be one of them.

We know Gray Boy's real name is Nicholas (Bonesaw Interlude). Search for that or "Sadboy" in that link.

    Alright.

    Interlude 18 - Mrs. Yamada

    Sadboy's real name is Nicholas.

    And Interlude 25 - Bonesaw/Riley

Shows us that Gray Boy's real name is also Nicholas.

BUT BUT BUT. That is not the only Nicholas in the series. Not only are there probably dozens of capes called 'Nicholas', but we know that one of Cherish and Regent's siblings is also called Nicholas.

    Interlude 11g - Cherish

So, it's possible that Gray Boy is a patient of Mrs Yamada, but it's far from confirmed.
