Yeah, that disappeared when Orochimaru escaped from Sasuke's control and regained a body during the Itachi fight, just like what happened to Anko's seal. We later see that Juugo was able to give Sasuke a flesh transplant since he was compatible with the curse seal, which could potentially mean that Sasuke can (learn to) passively absorb natural energy like Kabuto who had also absorbed Juugo's DNA.

Alright, cool. That more or less matches up with what I remember. I don't remember the Juugo thing happening, but it seems reasonable enough.

It reminds of me Aizen ignoring his sword's hax abilities after becoming a butterfly. Anyway Tobi should at least have the Rinnegan abilities even if he hasn't ever made a big show of using them. The Sage had them to create the moon.

I hope rocks fall and Naruto manifests a Rinnegan, seals the Juubi and Obito into himself and ends the world's ability to use chakra.

Unfortunately, "Rocks Fall + Funky Eyes" is only allowed once per Shonen manga.

I had no idea this story had been continued from other titles.

Eh, than hasn't already been used at least twice? Well, I guess one could argue Pein's decimation of Konoha might not count, but I do.

An then there's Madara's Meteor. Oh, and I forgot Obito's (apparent) demise. He did get a rock dropped on him while having funky eyes. So that's three, counting Pein.

Madara's meteors are more "Two Funky Rocks from Space," but I guess I had forgotten about them... Pain never made rocks fall in a significant manner though everyone did die. Obito's not-quite-death was what I was referring to.

I've got to stop using the word "funky," it's nearly always inappropriate.

Ah, yes... now I remember. Well, apparently you were right and Sasuke would use Senjutsu without any training.

Here's some more proof supporting the idea I had about "summoning snapback".

    http://www.tenmanga.com/chapter/Naruto635/327854-9.html

Katsuyu talks about "maintaining the summoning". If summoning worked the way you think it does, there wouldn't be anything to maintain. Even if their chakra runs out or they become damaged enough to lose focus, without a snapback, they should/could just stay where they want to; but when they obviously want to stay, they cant.

They have to maintain the chakra they've been given. That's why Katsuyu couldn't heal Tsunade up right away, because she'd use up all her chakra too fast. And the point of them having a set amount of chakra given by the summoner is that they can't just stick around for as long as they want. Once that chakra runs out, they're gone.

Woah woah woah. Chakra given by the summoner? Um, no. These creatures have their own chakra. If they only had what the summoner gave them, summoning would be kinda useless (not useless, but not as special as it is). Why spend 50 units of chakra on something that's only gonna be able to do 50 chakra units of damage, only, not under your precise control?

I'm pretty sure it has to do with how the summoning contract was originally designed...

Ninja: "Will you promise to come to my aid when I call you to battle?"

Summon: "Yes, but ditto and shit."

Ninja: "Then this contract is complete! For whomever signs this scroll, many ages hence, our pact will endure!"

Summon: "Fine. I'm not fucking walking home though..."

Ninja: "...That's actually a really good point. I mean we do live about a thousand miles from one another. Hmm... getting out... trusty brush... magic ink... and, done! My, that would have been inconvenient."

    Summon: "Indeed. Peace."

I know that they have their own chakra, but some summons, such as the various bosses, would definitely be worth spending 50 units of chakra for 50 units of fighting if that's how the summoning worked. I could also get behind a theory that the summoner only provides enough chakra to summon the animal, and they leave when they run out of chakra themselves or get injured.

But I'm not buying the snap back, because every time a summon disperses it's because they've run out of chakra, or they've sustained a heavy injury. They never mention being 'pulled' back to their land.

Katsuyu said she was maintaining the summoning....as in actively trying to stay put. Not activating the summoning, maintaining it.

There's obviously some link between a summoner and summon. Take out the summoner and the summon disappears too. Tsunade was half dead and thus her summon had to fight to stay.
