Thats what the Super Awesome Time-Capsule Room is for. Harry goes inside it for 2 years, 5, perhaps a decade and comes out not aged a day and on the very same day that he went it and is like Super.

Sounds like a plot of an Indy!Harry fic. Speaking of Indy!Harry fics usually in them Harry cunningly escapes the order by taking the Knight bus to Diagon. Wouldn't Dumbledore have tracking wards around Privet Drive or something? Surely it can't be that easy.

I don't get Indy!Harry fics at all because most of them after 2 months Harry gets to the point where he usually humiliates Dumbledore. Come on this is Dumbledore. I think he can handle he can handle some prick with an ego-boost without experience and Harry being so smart and independant in those fics should see that.

You have been reading some bad fics in that format someone. Go read the Hero Trilogy or the Fifth Element. It does all of those cliches well and is entertaining.

If he did, they certainly didn't stop him from hitching a ride to Diagon Alley (on the Knight Bus no less) in Prisoner of Azkaban.

I feel like people severely overstate Dumbledore's surveillance of Privet Drive. Mainly by thinking it existed at all.

 

I've noticed nearly every 6th-year after OotP has Harry back at the Dursleys, moping around because he got Sirius killed. This is so annoying. And

She has such beautiful brown eyes/red hair...what?! Did i just think of Ginny/Hermione like that?

You think? When Dumbledore said he watched Harry closely, at the end of OotP, I always thought he was being sincere. You know? We're talking about a guy who can be invisible whenever he wants and that loved Harry truly. Maybe it was only me, but I can't change my mind over that.

 

I took that to mean that he always had someone to keep an eye on him, whether it was the cat lady squib, the thief, the clumsy auror, or whomever. Hmm, makes me wonder exactly how well of an eye he did keep on Harry.

Maybe he meant inside the castle?

Would any of them make it into the Library other than jbern's and nonjon's?

 

Not gonna lie, I enjoyed reading To Shape and Change and Unsung Hero (until the shit-tier ending!), but no, I wouldn't put it them up for review (plus, I think unsung hero already was. It was entertaining seeing a fic go from a universal 4/5 to ~2/5 based on the good-god ending).

 

I took that to mean he'd kept a close eye on him while he was at Hogwarts. I'm not saying he did nothing to protect Harry, since he definitely cast a charm to protect him and left Mrs. Figg close-by, but I don't think he had first-hand knowledge of Harry's home life, or he wouldn't have been surprised by his thinness.

He didn't even seem to know who he was leaving Harry with in the very first chapter, when McGonagall warns him that they're horrible. He probably didn't even keep in touch with Mrs. Figg, at least not until after Voldemort returned and he mobilized forces to watch over the neighborhood, trusting her to contact him if Harry was in such bad condition that she would notice, or feel it necessary.

I always thought he'd turned more or less of a blind eye to how the Dursleys behaved, which is supported by the way he acted and how appalled he was by them in HBP, and this was well after the worst of the abuse had been done. He didn't really want to know. So long as the charm was maintained, he knew Petunia was meeting his needs, however poorly, by "allowing him house room," and that was enough for him I guess.

The conversation probably would have always gone: "Sir, the Dursleys are horrible-"

"Is he near death or in mortal peril?"

"Well, no but-"

"He's fine."

 

So, your peeve is that we don't equate popularity with quality?

 

I haven't read most of them. So I asked if any of them would make it to the Library. There most be some reason they must popular right? Yeah Off topic I know.
