Cauldron capes ('dead' shards) apparently have less potential or resources to draw on compared to normal shards, but since most parahumans never approach the limits of their power, it doesn't affect their powers much, with the exception of Eidolon, who has been weakening.

Of course it was Brockton Bay. Why wouldn't it be Brockton Bay?

Chapter was as expected, basically. Bunch of deaths, nothing new we didn't see in the last interlude.

Can't wait for chapters with newer material.

Yeah, what Garden said. The interesting stuff is still to come.

You kidding? This is the best part. Everything looks dreadful, Taylor has lost her dad, Scion is on a rampage. This is the part where Skitter comes out to play.

Precisely! But we didn't see a whole lot of that this chapter. The rest of extermination is what I'm waiting on. I can't wait to see how Skitter's going to fit into this thing, especially considering the power levels of the creatures she's up against.

Don't consider this part a chapter unto itself. This is the first part of the Extermination chapter. You can't have a climax like this without a bit of build up first. This segment has just made me more excited for the rest of the chapter.

This one was fairly boring for me. As nice as it was to see Bonesaw getting taken to bits, it wasn't really enough to engage my interest. Strange because I usually love watching Tattletale at work.

Same here but I suppose not all chapters can be interesting. At least we should get to more interesting things in the next one.

I like the set up we're getting in this chapter. Watching all of the big guns prepare to do anything against Scion, even if it's just running.

I was expecting Cauldron to have more of a leg up on this situation, but apparently they're scrambling just as badly as the rest.

I guess Taylor is going to talk to Sophia to try to squeeze some catharsis out of somewhere, since now Danny and supposedly Emma are dead.

I think it has more to do with whatever Contessa wanted to talk to Imp about, something about Strangers. Maybe Imp doesn't show up in Contessa's I Win map, which could be used against Scion.

I'm surprised that there's still a working prison outside of the Birdcage and that there are stil folks doing pat downs.

The world is being trashed. What prison guards are going to stay at their 9-5 job for a pay check that'll probably never come when the world is coming apart at the seams right outside. Surely you'd fuck off back to your family if you've got one and head for the hills.

I can just see Prison Guard Frank getting ready to go to work in the morning and his missus going "WTF do you think you're doing!? You ain't going nowhere." "But baby, the prisoners need looking after" "The prisoners need looking after!? I need looking after! Your children need looking after!"

They're probably thinking the capes will deal with it.

I think if the world were really ending, most of us, or at least, a lot of us, would be in denial over it. A lot of people like to think they'd survive, or that they'd be prepared, but if the world were to ever end, I think it would surprise us all. It is rather dream-like.

They've been living with Endbringers for a couple of decades now. Maybe not 'world ending', but 'your local region ending'? Yes.

There was some speculation earlier about there being a connection between Legend and Scion- that perhaps Legend eventually lets himself go fully into his transformed state and becomes Scion in the future and then travels back in time. Or that Scion is Legend's passenger somehow separated from him (something similar to Echidna/Noelle but with two bodies).

But now we can be pretty sure that the reason Legend and Scion seem to have the same power is that Legend has the dead entity's "scion" shard. Or at least, the main one. That's why Legend has most of Scion's powers (though Scion has a few more).

Makes me wonder if the flaming bird guy in the Adepts has the dead entity's "administration" shard, and is analogous to Taylor. Especially since the kid who just triggered got bird control powers.

Edit: I also suspect that Noelle and Rachel got the same type of shards. Strangely, I don't see why Noelle should have her mind being eroded and taken over by her "dead" passenger. But whatever.

Edit: Also, Imp is mentioned in the Scion chapter. She's the one who gets the "forget-me-now" shard. Explains something mentioned in Imp's interlude, where she talks about thinking her power was actually for something else.

And there's one other thing I wanted to comment about. This is from Taylor watching Grue's second trigger:

Before Scion's interlude, I thought this was supposed to be Taylor's dad- he gets the passenger, it stays dormant in him, eventually transfers into Taylor. The description fits him pretty well- he would be surrounded by burly dockworkers, while he is thin and has glasses. Scion's interlude confirms that this is possible, given that it happens with Aisha- the shard goes into her father and then transfers to her afterwards.

And then just after that it confirms it directly. It says he casts the signal transmission/wavelength shard to a similar time and place as Dinah's shard- to a thin male surrounded by others, drinking. This is the last shard Scion casts off. He later recognizes it in Taylor.

Also- he says that if that shard and it's derivative remain close to each other, they will communicate with each other and share the information they've learned- too bad the hosts have separated. But now that they're in the same place again (other side of the portal), I think Taylor's gonna get the power to control larger creatures like birds, and Aiden's fine control will increase.

Uh, not sure where you're getting the idea that Scion and Legend have the same powers. Flying and laser beams are pretty damn common when it comes to cape powers, and recent chapters have made it abundantly clear that Scion doesn't have a basic power set. He has all the powers.

So no. There is not greater link between Legend and Scion than between Scion and any other Cauldron cape.

Actually, no. He had all the powers, but then he broke them off to send into random humans so that they'd be able to level up the materia and help the Entity learn some new tricks. Right now he has flight, lasers, a bit of precognition (since it takes too much energy to go full tilt like Dinah) and immunity to powers.

Healing powers, anyone? Flight and lasers are what we see him doing, but he has a hell of a lot more that we don't necessarily see, and near perfect control. At this point I wouldn't put it past him to be able to pull any power out of his hat.
