    You grind.

You grind harder and faster than a fifteen year old boy around the back of a school dance hall.

So I've never seen one besides the Red Gyarados.

Just came across a golden geodude in a Ruby hack.

It's only in its 4 gym beta :(

Found a shiny Growlithe as my third encounter on route 8 in a trial nuzlocke run in Fire Red. Only had repeats before that so I said screw the rules I wanna golden dog looking fire breather. Now I just need to name him. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

'LUCKYCUNT' seems as good a suggestion as any.

Ha ha ha, no. I'll actually consider that, it seems kinda fitting.

I thought shiny pokemon were exempt from the repeat rule?

Some people play by that rule, others don't.

I say I wouldn't, but I've never had to make that hard, hard decision. I'd probably be weak and try to catch it.

...then kill it, or run out of balls. Or lose all my pokemon to a billion tackles.

This. It's because they're such a rarity that coming across one in normal play (where you're not grinding for them) that most people will allow it in a nuzlocke, although I personally would immediately box, say, a regular growlithe and train the shiny instead.

Don't have a regular Growlithe. I justified catching it because most people I know go with the first non-repeat rule for catching and the pokemon I saw on that route before the newly named LuckyFire were repeats. (And yes, large quantities of alcohol were involved in choosing the name.)

My policy on Shinies in Nuzlocke is that they trump everything else. I don't care if I get a damned Shiny Mewtwo, it becomes catchable and eligible for use by virtue of being Shiny.

In my Nuzlockes I play Shiny pokemon straight. If they aren't the first on the route then I can't catch them. It's caused arguments between me and my stream goers. Heh.

That fact that you have run into enough shinies for this to have even become an issue is :confused::facepalm:fire:awesome

Just caught a Shiny Virizion in Black 2. As shocking as that was to me, the fact it had a Jolly nature, which is probably the one I would have most hoped for if I had a choice, just leaves me gobsmacked. Pretty sure I have now lost any right to complain about only getting trash shinies. AND I'M OKAY WITH THAT! :awesome

    Fuck. You.

To stay on topic, the only Shiny I've ever caught across my fifteen years of Pokemon play is the Red Gyarados. Never even encountered a Shiny and accidentally killed it, or any of that nonsense. I hate all of you, and I want every single one of you to lose your files with Shinies.

Not actually a Shiny, but so fucking rare that I thought I'd mention it anyway. Pokerus spawn on my Metang (now a Metagross) in White 2. How the Hell does a machine catch a virus? Dem biological weapons.

It's a virus that appears in all games from Gen II onwards. Pokemon infected gain double the EVs from battle. You chances of having a pokemon contract it are about 1/3 of your odds of getting a shiny, and if you do get it, Nurse Joy tells you about it.

Chaos was bitching at me during my streaming Nuzlocke runs because I got Pokerus in like... 3 of them.

I got a shiny Suicune. I don't know if it has a nickname since it's from Japan, but it's kinda cute.

I found it on the GTS. I was searching for a Latias and a Suicune with a nickname that could join Pixie the Celebi and Luna the Cresselia in the box, when I found this shiny Suicune. It’s owner wanted an Xerneas for it and I had an Xerneas. I shrugged. Okay, sure. Not like I was going to get it, but it was a shiny, so there’s nothing wrong with trying- What? I got it? Oh, cool.

I’m not sure what to do with it now. I checked it’s IVs and it has four 0IVs. It’s almost certainly hacked, and I’d rather have a shiny that I caught myself, but it’s mine now, so yay.
