I'm looking for time travelling/dimension traveling fics where Harry makes things interesting not just angsting around and ignoring the butterfly effect willy-nilly. Preferably badass!Harry. I don't care if it is cliché or guilty pleasure. My only request is that the Authors of these fics should have at least basic understanding of grammar.

I just started reading this series last weekend. I stopped reading after reading the Ministry battle in Book 2. This wasn't the only thing that kept me from continuing, but it was the breaking point:

    SPOILERS:

"No!" Harry said, heart pounding wildly. "Hurting people isn't power. I already know you can do that, and I'm not going to fight with you just so you can do that some more. I'll just leave if that's all you've got. I could just go away where you can't find me again, I suppose. Happy hunting." Harry made a show of thinking about it. "Or . . . or you could prove you're worth taking seriously. Do something that actually impresses me."

"Such as?" Voldemort asked. It was obvious that he was only humouring Harry because he was so confident that he thought he had all the time in the world.

"I've heard you cursed the Defense Against the Dark Arts post at Hogwarts," Harry said, a wild thought occurring to him. "But I don't believe it. That kind of magic? You're just a thug, you don't have it in you."

Voldemort began to look very wrathful. Would he admit to having done it, here, in front of Dumbledore?

"But I suppose there's a way of finding out. It seems pretty apparent that the position is cursed. But for it to have been you, well, there's only one way to prove that. You take the curse off."

Voldemort laughed. "Oh, Harry, you truly are a foolish boy," he chuckled.

Harry stared him down. He did not tremble, although it took everything he had not to do it. "Prove it, Voldemort. If Sirius still holds the job come fall, then I'll believe you're worth the time it takes to think about you. If not, I'm getting out of here. You see, I've decided I don't really much like England, so I think I'll just leave again and go into hiding again, and someday, someday that you could never see coming, I'll be back to take out your sorry, murdering ass. When I'm good and ready to. Not now, not like this, not when you want it."

I couldn't go on. She's just horrible at writing conflict. Even the whole graveyard/rebirth scene was atrocious.

Read a story a while ago where James Potter becomes the MOD, kills off Lily to raise Harry to be the next master and I can't find it. Any suggestions DLP?

Well, there the obvious two, A Black Comedy and The Wastelands of Time, but everyone probably knows about those. Here are some of the time/dimension travel stories I've read that I think fit your criteria.

A different one that comes to mind is Time, Mr. Potter? It currently resides in the library.
It's been a while since I've read it, but I believe this one would definitely fulfill your requirements. The grammar is good, and the biggest weakness, at least to me, is the author focuses too much on the battles.

He's Not Normal, though unfortunately abandoned, is quite humorous for those of us who've read too many time travel stories, as it pokes fun at the cliches.

To End in Serenity is another decent fic that would probably work for your request.

Stages of Hope features a badass!Harry and Co (minus the Weaselys). May have some angst, but there is action to offset it.

Mysterious Thing, Time is a WIP I personally enjoy, but may not be quite what you are looking for. The obstacles for the main characters have been a little too easy to overcome, and I'm worried that there will not be enough conflict, especially after the disappointing end to the author's other work, To Shape and Change. However, with the best TimeTraveling!Dumbledore I've read, I think it might qualify as interesting, if you have time to kill. And Harry's moderately badass. For a man in the body of an infant.

As something a little less serious, Faery Heroes, a WIP that would probably work. IIRC, they boil Snape alive.

To Bow with Pride could be a good story, but there is just not enough written to be able to tell how it's going to go. Harry seems to have a plan, but the author hasn't shared it yet.

Another that I haven't read in a while, and would probably qualify as a guilty pleasure, would be Not ANOTHER Time Travel Fic? I don't really have the time to re-read it, so it may not be as decent as I remember. Features Old!Harry helping Young!Harry.

Dancing with Myself is an alternate dimension story and a guilty pleasure. It's Harry/Fem!Harry.

Still Another Universe is a time travel that I don't remember much of. All I can recall is that it's just better than the one it's based off of.

I probably went a little overboard with poor fics, but I believe that most of these fit your request.

Typical Sirius breaks out Harry and takes him from the Dursley's story. I'm at chapter 22 and Sirius is still a wanted fugitive, so I guess that counts as 'being on the run'.

I've spent a few hours reading it so far. It's a long story, some 300,000 words. It's not amazing by any means, and there's a few scenes that just don't make any sense (such as the author's explanation of the Fidelius Charm), and some contrived drama, and I still don't know why Malfoy has another brother, other than the author wanting it so, and it's fairly heavy handed with where the plot is going, but it's a decent time waster.

Thanks for the rec, Lord Anarchy. It's one I've already checked out, though. Like you said, there's a lot about it that doesn't make sense and I discarded it after not being able to get into it. I might try it again though. The author has updated since I last gave it a look, it seems.

Yeah, it's not a brilliant story, and the author seems to be doing everything possible but advancing the story. I skimmed the last few chapters and saw that Harry is still not at Hogwarts, so there's 300,000 words of story that take place sometimes between Harry's 9th and 11th birthday. The author seems to mitigate that fact by using a bunch of different character's point of views.

It's not a bad story though, probably perfect for the almost recommendable thread, though if you're going to read 300,000 words you'd hope it was better than that. The problem is just the story itself. The writing itself is fine from a technical aspect, it's just the content and plot.

I'm chasing some good Kick Ass stories. I burned through Precocious Crush yesterday, and so far all else I've found are some pretty average Kickass/HitGirl detective type stories. Anyone know of anything better?

I'm trying to find Dragon Age fictions. Preferably that deals with the story of the 1st part, Origins.

It can even be a crossover, as long as the writing is good, I'll read it. No angst would be great, but as it's a small fandom, I can let that pass.

I think I got some for you:

Give It Your Best Shot - I've been following this one. It's slow pace at the start, but seems to be picking up. Harry is a decent badass in this. It's dimension/time travel. A good read, in my opinion.

C'est La Vie - A good time waster. Harry isn't a super badass, but he doesn't act like a childish prick either, so good enough, I suppose. It's dimension/time travel as well.

Then there are the traditional recommendations:

Circular Reasoning, Harry Potter and the Wastelands of Time, A Black Comedy, and DLP's usual favs in this category.

Trying to find a decent badass, time/dimension traveling Harry on ff.net isn't the easiest thing now days.

There is this: MageElite: Harry James Potter Location: ? I haven't read it in a long time, but I remember it being good and Harry being competent, if nothing else.

I went and had a look through my alerts for you, but it's been a real long since I read some of these, so I don't really know how well they hold up. Also gonna assume you know about Victory at Ostagar and The Keening Blade.

    http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7300672/1/Corin

Picks up around the landsmeet and follows M!Cousland taking the throne, and the battle in Denerim. Also seems to be heading into some political stuff with Orlais poat-blight. Currently updating, but the author takes some pretty long breaks.

    http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5875319/1/The-Great-Escape

Origin+Blight story with F!Brosca. Spends a lot of time on romance, and is quite angsty, but makes some pretty interesting departures from canon later on if I recall correctly. Seems to be abandoned but theres almost 300k words of it.

    http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8417480/1/Moments-In-Time

Berzerker F!Cousland trying to hold herself together and deal with the blight. Tons of angst in this one. Currently updating.

    http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7162517/1/Heirs-of-Honor

Non warden M!Cousland and F!Amell romance. Starts off following those two on the run from Howe and the Templars, but eventually intersects with an M!Mahariel warden party. Finished.

    http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5771978/1/The-Last-Warden

Alistair is the only survivor from Ostagar, so he has to nut up and take charge.
    Finished.

Are there any good Horcrux awakening stories? I read Hit the Ground Running and liked it, and didn't like Kmfranks story.

I'm 99% sure you'd have already read it since it's probably the biggest fic in the fandom, but take this one:

    LOL.

God, doesn't it suck when the genre, scenario, crossover, or pairing you're dying to read is so rare and the pickings are so slim that, in your desperation, you can honestly say, "This part was shit, that was crap, I hated that part, characterization could've been tighter, spelling and grammar were spotty at best, someone needs to teach this moron to stick with a tense, why did it have to be in first person?

...Archived. Best of its kind I've ever read."

    For Hero of Stupidity:

Resolution by Slytherin's Dragon - Time travel fic. Fairly new, so you may or may not have already read it. It's interesting. There is some cliche stuff, but nothing that's too annoying. I wouldn't say it's library worthy, but good enough ...

Yeah I've already read it. 'Twas a good story, even though the author has some sort of crush on Loghain. Thanks anyway.

    Great rec, thanks.

I thought you could ask for any kind of fiction and from any fandom in this thread?

This thread is technically in a Harry Potter section. The other fandoms search sub-forum is here although there's no 'searches that don't require their own threads' thread that I can see. Perhaps you would like to make one?
