I wrote this a while ago, make use of it if you wish.

An AU which fuses Scooby-Doo, the Addams Family, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Harry Potter.

    Timeline of Magical Events

1952 – Norville Rogers, Daphne Blake, Fred Jones and Velma Dinkley are born.

1954 – Pugsley Addams is born.

1955 – Muggle Theodore Scoob is turned into a dog by a witch after he breaks her heart. She erases his memories.

1958 – Wednesday Addams is born.

1962 – Norville Rogers finds a talking dog called Scooby-Doo. Scooby doesn’t seem to know why he has this ability.

1968 – Daphne Blake becomes the new Slayer.

1969 – Daphne's Watcher is murdered. Daphne and her friends form the group Mystery Incorporated and begin hunting monsters across the world.

1970 – Around this time the First War with Voldemort begins.

1972 – Mystery Inc. investigates the Addams Family. Pugsley joins the group to hunt monsters.

1976 – Scooby-Doo is killed by a demon which causes Norville to leave Mystery Inc.

1978 – Norville Rogers and Wednesday Addams are married after dating for several months. They keep the Addams surname.

1980 – Harry Potter is born.

1981 – Voldemort is defeated by Harry Potter, ending the First War. Buffy Summers, Willow Rosenberg and Xander Harris are born.

1982 – Fred Jones is killed by a vampire.

1984 – Wednesday becomes the Defense teacher at Salem Institute. Norville returns to Mystery Inc.

1985 – The Thirteen Ghosts are released and hunted by Mystery Inc. Flim Flam joins the group.

1991 – Harry Potter rejoins the Wizarding World and starts education at Hogwarts.

1992 –Willow Rosenberg learns that she is a witch and starts at Salem Institute. Wednesday Addams is her mentor. [1]Willow shares her secret with her friend Xander.

1993 – Harry Potter destroys one of Voldemort’s Horcruxes. Wednesday begins tutoring Willow in Dark Magic.

1994 – The Triwizard Tournament is held at Hogwarts.

1995 - Lord Voldemort returns to corporeal form. Unknown to him, his Horcruxes around the world are activated. [2] The Second War begins.

1996 - Daphne Blake is killed by Voldemort’s Locket Horcrux. Mystery Inc. begins searching for Harry Potter. Buffy Summers is activated as the new Slayer. Buffy meets Xander in Sunnydale and he later introduces her to Willow. Lord Voldemort takes over the British Ministry of Magic. Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Draco Malfoy and Neville Longbottom leave Britain to find the rest of Horcruxes.

1997 – Death Eater influence spreads to North America. Locket Horcrux takes over the underground of Sunnydale. Mystery Inc. finds Harry Potter and his team in Canada; the two teams join forces and head for Sunnydale. On the way, they are attacked by Death Eaters and Ron Weasley is killed. Forcing to abandon their plan to enter Sunnydale for now, the group decides to focus on other Horcruxes, they head to Japan.

1998 – After several months of searching, Potter’s group discovers the Ring Horcrux gathering forces among Japanese dark creatures and wizards. They manage to destroy him; however Neville sacrifices his life in the process. Meanwhile in Sunnydale, Buffy Summers destroys the Locket Horcrux.

    ***

[1]Salem Institute works differently than Hogwarts. It is not a boarding school, as students do not live there. Instead, each student is given their personal school portkey and each day travels there from his/her home. Also, despite its name, the school teaches both boys and girls (some communities in the past used the term ‘witch’ for both women and men). There are no ‘houses’, instead all students have Mentors that are responsible for them. Naturally, Mentors have more than one student at a time under their care.

[2] The Diary in Britain, the Locket in America, the Diadem in Albania, the Cup in Egypt and the Ring in Japan. Voldemort planned to make a Sixth Horcrux after killing Harry, but then he got defeated so that’s that.

    The Different Harry Potter

Due to the fact that the Horcruxes were spread around the world in this universe and several other changes introduced by other parts of the Fusion, Harry’s adventures at Hogwarts were understandably different.

One major change is Voldemort and the way he operates. In this universe, the Dark Lord is smarter, more creative and therefore more dangerous. The first war was not only limited to Britain, but slowly started spreading to continental Europe and America. Only Harry’s miraculous feat managed to stop the inevitable world war that Voldemort would no doubt create.

Naturally, if we are beefing up the Dark Lord and his supporters, we have to beef up Dumbledore and the Order. The protections around the Stone were different here, the Chamber incident was handled differently, and so were Sirius’ escape and later the Triwizard Tournament. In this universe, Ministry believed Voldemort returned, because here Dumbledore isn’t some old man you can easily ignore or create a smear campaign against.

Addams Family isn’t just some 5-6 people clan in America. This is a clan that has hundreds of various family members worldwide (as seen on the TV show). Naturally, there are Addams’ in Britain. I feel that I must explain them a little before I continue. The Addams’ are not blood purists (not usually anyway) and they aren’t exactly dark wizards. That is, they use dark magic as they have a very strong affinity for it, but they do not use it to attack humans and other intelligent beings. The Addams’ are an anomaly, an offshoot of the magical society, not accepted due to their odd behavior, their weird willingness to breed with non-humans and other atypical traditions. They are barely tolerated, as they are of old money and even older magic. They also mingle with muggles, frequently breaking the Statute of Secrecy. Some Wizarding countries even have specially-trained Obliviator teams assigned specifically to Addams-related incidents.

So it should be without much surprise that the Addams had an impact on magical Britain and therefore on Harry’s life.

Due to the fact that Buffyverse versions of vampires, demons and other creatures are incorporated to this universe, several major details are changed. For example, to balance things out and give the Slayer a reason to exist, Vampires are not easily dealt with via magic, same with demons. Yes, it is possible to destroy them with magic, but one needs to remember the entire symbolism behind vampires. While sunlight kills them, they are immune to light created with magic. Vampires, being already dead, are immune to the Killing Curse. One should assume most spells are half as successful on vampires as on humans.

Werewolves are also altered. While they do change during full moon, they also can change under the influence of strong emotions or pain. In this universe, werewolf bites spread their curse even if they are in their human form. These changes make the werewolf situation even worse than in canon, they are shunned by almost everyone in the Wizarding society. In this world, they lead an even more terrible existence. Here Remus Lupin is a very different person.

Ghosts are dangerous here. Unlike in canon, they can interact with physical matter, they can hurt living beings, they can possess the weak-willed and they are much more respected. Nobody makes jokes about Nearly-Headless Nick, at least not when he can hear.

This could not work, for one simple reason - different time zones. For it to work it would have to be a giant institution with dozens of teachers, willing to teach children from different time zones.

To make it simple - Salem isn't one institution with central location. It's a network of interconnected institutions spread around the entire North America.

That could work. Another solution would be to have people take classes on different times of the day.

You had me until "Draco Malfoy." So far as I can tell there's no change that would explain why Draco Malfoy would join with people he pretty much despises instead of staying with his family (who appear to be on the stronger, winning side this time).

    Inspired by Breaking Bad.

    Dark Downfall

Harry is thirty something Professor at Hogwarts. He's teaching DADA, but he is just an Assistant Professor, not one of two Master Professors. He has a wife, Ginny, and three kids. They live in small house in Hogsmeade.

He doesn't complain about his life. Sure, Ginny can be annoying sometimes and his kids may think that he is most boring person ever, but for most part he is content. For most part because all his life he had this feeling that he was meant for greater things than this.

One day a friend sends him a ring. Something he found in an empty house. He thinks it may be cursed and asks for expertise. While Harry may be just an Assistant Professor of DADA, when he finished his education at Hogwarts he almost become an Unspeakable specializing in dark magic. For unknown reasons he resigned from his training even though he had top scores.

Harry examines the ring and when he is doing it something makes him want to put it on. He does and the ring curses him. Fortunately, Harry manages to delay the curse and deal with a shadow of its former owner calling himself Voldemort.

Aware that there is no know way of undoing the curse, Harry decides to search for it in more questionable places, dealing with more questionable people. He hides his true identity using a name of the wizard that probably killed him, Voldemort.

What he doesn't know is who Voldemort was or what this name means to his father and Head Auror James Potter.

Years back Voldemort's name was just a whisper in dark alleys. A ghost who controlled most of the criminal world and wanted to control everything, but there was one man that stood in his way. That man was Albus Dumbledore.

Most didn't believe in Voldemort, thinking it's just an urban legend. But the fact was the one day Albus Dumbledore suddenly disappeared and few days later people closest to him announced that he was no longer with them.

What only they knew was that Albus sacrificed his life to deal with Voldemort who managed to find a way to make himself immortal and was perfectly fine with simply waiting for Dumbledore to become to old to stop him from conquering the world.

Now that someone is once again using this name, James and his friends decide to discover who it is and deal with him.

At the same time Harry discovers that he actually enjoys his other life. For a first time people respect (and fear) him because of his talent in dark magic. His main goal is to find a way to undo the curse, but along the way he slowly starts creating a web of contacts that allows him to affect even Minister's decisions. The greatness he always wanted is his to take if he is ready to pay for it.

And the price may not be a small one. In his recent fight with Voldemort James Potter discovered that whoever it is, he stopped himself from cursing the Head Auror when a moment ago he didn't have any problem with massacring others. This makes him believe that it's someone from his closest friends and family.

Would Harry's arm going to be a dead husk like Dumbledore's was? I imagine that would put a damper on his adventures if it was.

I haven't watched Breaking Bad but I do like the idea of Harry slowly turning into a Voldemort-like figure. He'd probably have to go through some pretty terrible shit before he was to the point of being perfectly fine "massacring" aurors.

The problem I've always seen with criminal!Harry is that you'd have to do some pretty heavy world building to make it work, seeing as how we know fairly little about the criminal elements of the wizarding world. I imagine you could probably have some pretty cool turf wars in Knockturn Alley or something though.

It wouldn't be his wand arm and he would hide it under illusion.

There's no canon support for Illusion or Glamours in the Potterverse, I think a real looking glove/partial prosthetic would make more sense. Harry could also purposefully lose his arm in a non suspicious way at the school so that he can just get a prosthetic... might be too noticeable though.

I agree that there are no glamours, but Moody created an Illusion that looked like Dumbledore's ghost.

Granted, that was very advanced magic and not something everyone could do, but it still exists.

I always thought of that as a literal Construct of dirt, because it would break down into a pile of dust on the passphrase. Also you're totally right, so I suppose it's possible, but it seems stuff like that needs to be made up of something...

Why? It's magic. Breaking rules of nature is in the definition.

Yes but it has its own rules as well, and from the one Illusion/Construct we have seen, it was made of something, so maybe they must be made of something, maybe not, I'm just making an educated guess based off of canon.

You're forgetting about Platform 9 3/4 which looked like a normal brick wall. To Muggles, Hogwarts and presumably other magical places look like ruins. That's a pretty good basis for illusions existing, we just haven't seen any small scale ones.

I'd say that the Disillusionment Charm that Moody uses on Harry in OotP would count as a small scale illusion charm, since it does a good job making him appear the same colour of whatever's behind him, and seems to change as he moves.

Videogame!Harry, but based not on RPG-style games, but on a certain Playstation game I played in my childhood.

Set during 5th year, Harry and Ron are magically transported from the Room of Requirement to the 'game'. They appear in a room that at first glance seems similar to the Gryffindor common room, but the place is deserted, all doors are permanently locked and there is just a white, glowing fog outside the windows, which are also locked.

On one of the tables, they find a floating parchment which basically tells them that 40 Winks, creatures which are responsible for the creation and maintenance of dreams, have been kidnapped and hidden across various Dream Worlds. Without the Winks, everyone will keep having the most terrible nightmares, or no dreams at all. Some people may even be unable to go to sleep, or wake up.

Harry's saving-people-thing kicks in and he reads on, deciding to help. He finds out that the identity of the kidnapper is yet unknown, but perhaps after saving all the Winks, it will be revealed. As Harry accepts the responsibility, a portal to the first Dream World is activated above a discarded Defense book.

    There are six Dream Worlds.

    1. Nightmare Dream World - Filled with Inferi, Dementors, Boggarts, Acromantulas, Werewolves, Vampires, Ghosts and other terrifying creatures. There are many cemeteries, old manors, dark forests and there is a permanent night with the full moon.

    2. Underwater Dream World - Completely underwater with no existing surface. Sharks, Giant Squids, Merpeople, Grindylows, think Triwizard Second task, but much, much bigger and dangerous. There are underwater ruined cities, some caves with air and various shipwrecks.

    3. Space Dream World - Deals with space travel, obviously. There are asteroids to visit, space stations, spaceships, bloodthirsty aliens, crazed mutants from failed experiments, heartless kill-all-meatbags androids and other techno-horrors.

    4. Prehistoric Dream World - Volcanoes exploding, jungles filled with Dragons, Basilisks, dinosaurs, giants, primitive wizards, goblins, centaurs and other 'first' versions of magical races, none which are happy about seeing our players.

    5. Medieval Dream World - If you thought the Founders would be here, you were right, kind of. This Dream World is a mish-mash of various medieval settings. The founders are indeed here, but hogwarts isn't. Merlin and Morgana are present, so is Robin Hood, King Arthur and various medieval myths fused together. The enemy here is other, powerful wizards and witches, which won't give up the Winks so easily.

    6. Pirate Dream World - The biggest of challenges, as magic the boys have doesn't work properly here. Spells often produce different results or don't work at all (casting a Wingardium Leviosa may turn your hair blue or explode in your face). Dealing with criminally-insane, greedy pirates who pillage and rape became just a bit harder.

Finally, after rescuing all the Winks, Harry and Ron come face to face with the kidnapper, who turns out to be none other than Voldemort himself. Cue in the final battle.

I think a cool idea for a plot could be something that focuses on how the Statue of Secrecy came into being. A story that deals with the events that finally caused it, who started it, and how it was done. That's a Harry Potter fanfic I would read.

Plot Bunny: I'd call this story Fractured.

In the Philosophers Stone, the Mirror of Erised shatters and shards are flung into Harry's flesh or he falls on the shattered glass, pressing some of it into him. This causes him to absorb the magic of the mirror. People see, some consciously, some unconsciously, their greatest desires in Harry, and slowly, over time, their association between him and their desire grows and need for his presence increases. Things slowly go fucking crazy.

Ex.s: Ron believes that he will achieve fame and success through Harry. Dumbledore sees Ariana's characteristics in Harry. Snape sees Lily in him. Voldemort sees Harry as a method of obtaining immortality. Luna sees him as a incredible friend. Neville is convinced Harry is the key to healing his parents.

Lots of places one could go from there. Dumbledore figures what is happening pretty quick, and tries to reverse the effects. Voldemort comes back to Hogwarts instead of going to Albania. Snape mentors Harry. Harry cuts himself off from everyone, believing that everyone is just trying to use him.

Maybe all of that and more.

Was there any information in canon about that? In my opinion, wizards were always hiding from muggles and Statute of Secrecy was just a bunch of politicians making it formal.
