So, yeah, they suckerpunched Scion pretty good, emotionally and physically, so, am looking forward to see where this goes. I know Panacea will get her a new arm but I was kind of looking forward for her to form an arm out of bugs or something, just to creep people out more.

 

Awesome update. I was waiting for something like this to happen with Panacea unlocking Taylor's shard fully.
Now all Taylor has to do with her Adminstrator shard is:

sudo apt-get all_powers_unrestricted

But since it's Worm, it can't possibly be that simple.

 

Kinda thinking we are going to get not-human-hive-mind Taylor out of this who will continue to exist as this sort of deity/force of will that is going to be able to take over the humans and coordinate them in the best possible way and use their powers to the fullest.

Or, you know, something worse.

I'm going to agree here and surmise that the walls Panacea just knocked down are out of the scope of what Taylor was expecting (something to do with bug powers) and probably instead unlocked some deeper elements of her epic shard.

I know Tt said they were never human, but the shards are weird enough I think she could have been mistaken.

True, though there is potential for awesome in here. Remember that when the Entities used Taylor's Shard they used it for communication, rather than to control bugs. There's a lot of room in there for power-ups, if that's the way Wildbow takes it.

Can't say I'm not worried about that, but it should be an interesting read. I've enjoyed the interludes enough to know that Wildbow can write from other characters' perspectives. It'll all depend on the character he chooses to follow on with that will make or break the story.

 

I'm not sure if there's already a consensus about it, but Imp using language uncharacteristic for her was mentioned a couple of times too often for it not to be Chekhov's gun.

It's probably the worst possibility, which means Teacher has compromised Imp.

 

Hadn't considered that possibility. Could very well be that and I can see a couple of reasons why Imp would go that route.

 

No, Imp is fine. She's just channeling Regent due to her loss. At this point I'm not expecting Teacher to be dealt with until the (possible) sequel.

 

Wildbow's been writing in the Wormverse for a long time, constantly changing, altering, and creating new characters and plots. He has a huge body of pre-Worm work set in various proto-Wormverses. Some of the characters have been different sexes, different teams, different personalities, etc. In fact, Taylor is a very recent character in comparison to many of the others.

That's why I think that Wildbow will be able to succeed at writing a decent length story from another character perspective - he already has. He's not solely focused on Taylor's story in Wormverse, he knows everyone's, and was able to work with it until he reached the right story to tell.

 

I thought the end of Skitter's story was basically the end of worm. Was I wrong?

If I was then not , I'msure how to feel about reading worm without Taylor well unless its Tattletale

 

The FAQ page has a lot of in depth stuff about what wildbow plans to do after Worm, including the possibility of a sequel and more stuff in the Wormverse.

He/she also says there that the story was planned to be about 30 arcs on the FAQ, so it wasn't really out of nowhere. I feel like wildbow definitely ended up accelerating the plot once 30 started looming on the horizon though.

 

He's explicitly stated that it is the end of Taylor's story. Consequently, I'm guessing that it comes to an end in the next arc, which is apparently something he's planned for.
