The problem is, even Oliver stated that it's "kill or be killed" and in a fight having to hold back from not killing them will limit how far he can go in a fight and constantly worrying about that, so I reckon we'll see him cross the line a fair few times.

Also, anyone else think the Lance's are going to swap opinions on "The Hood" this season? Laurel seems to have a grudge against him now, where as her father seems to actually be turning into his Gordon.

Quite the opposite, actually. I'm disappointed he hasn't brought out the boxing glove arrows.

I just watched the first three episodes this afternoon. I'd expressed some interest before, as you can tell from my previous posts here, but hadn't actually watched the show. When I heard a while back that they might tie this into a larger DC live-action universe that will include Man of Steel and bring in actual superheroes like the Flash, I figured I ought to try it.

My impression so far: waaay too much like Batman. Of course that's why I never really got into Green Arrow in the first place, since he was literally created as a Batman rip-off with an Arrowcave and an Arrowmobile and a young nubile sidekick and everything, but it hits harder here since they're trying so hard to be like the Nolan Batman movies. It's kind of hard for me to get past that since I'm very biased towards Batman, but I'm trying. I'm hoping they can try and separate it from that though, further down the line.

Looking ahead in the episode summaries I'm seeing that they're bringing in more comics characters. Hopefully they do the Flash justice. Also, totally called Malcolm Merlyn being trained by the League of Assassins. I really like how they're transitioning Oliver from just being a vigilante to being a hero this season.

As far as comic characters in the first season went, I was fine with most of them. Deadshot was okay, though I wish they'd get rid of those tattoos. The guy playing Slade Wilson doesn't look much like the Slade I know (way younger), but that's forgivable since he's pretty cool. The whole thing with Wintergreen being "Deathstroke" was kind of weird though, and I didn't like the version of the mask they used. Hopefully they have Slade actually become Deathstroke himself soon, and appropriately lose the eye. They made Huntress more of an out-and-out villain than troubled hero (and separated her from the Bat-family... but Batman's got characters to spare), but I suppose it's possible for that to turn around still. And as for Count Vertigo, I was satisfied enough. I didn't really like his original version anyway. I imagine we haven't seen the last of him yet.

I think my biggest disappointment was with Firefly. Making him a deranged firefighter with a squirt-gun and a can of gas on his back? Lame.

Considering the way the Huntress episodes turned out? Fuck that, keep her as far away from this series as possible. I don't even hate them as much as other people do, they're just bad episodes.

I just marathoned this, and damn, but it's actually a good show. I just wish they could dispense with the drama. Whenever Oliver and Laurel meet up and stare at each other with music playing in the background, I just reach for the slider...

Malcolm's plot actually succeeding was a satisfying twist, and the opening episode of season two has only piqued my interest. The copycats, the transition into becoming a 'proper hero,' Summer Glau, Speedy, and what seems to be Black Canary (my god, is it possible Laurel might acquire some depth?)... Good stuff.

I doubt that it's actually going to be Laurel anytime soon considering that in pretty much every version of the character Laurel takes the mantle from someone else.

I saw a screenshot from a preview or something earlier that shows the Black Canary character clearly, and it's definitely not Laurel. She'll probably take up the suit later in the season (maybe in the spring half?)

They have named the actress. I guess she comes more to the forefront of the plot near the fall finale, like episode 8 & 9. Also when the Glee dude comes on to play Mr. flash

Wow, they have made Laurel really, really unlikeable lately. I did not have much of a problem last season. She is just a mega bitch now.

Just finished my marathon of this show, and damn that cliffhanger.

Show itself is very good though.

I'm interested in seeing how this Black Canary business will go. Laurel's probably not the one under the mask now (maybe her not-so-dead sister), but I imagine that will change eventually if that's the case. Hopefully they'll keep the "Canary Cry." Maybe it doesn't have to be a metahuman thing if they want to keep the powers limited, but a sonic weapon could work too.

I don't know, I really don't know why, but I had the feeling that the glee guy with the handsome smile would be the Flahsh. I just knew it. That said, I think he can be a good Flash.

Agreed. It's like they went out their way to make her into a total bitch. Also, her reasoning for hating the vigilante? Are you serious? She's actually mad because Oliver couldn't save Tommy from the giant metal rod that eviscerated him when a building FELL on him? The vigilante shoots arrows; he's not a wizard.

That being said... felicity, felicity, felicity, felicity, felicity, felicity

Also, bonus points for Diggs comment: "It could be worse, my secret identity is a black driver."

Also, "It really bothers me when you speak of yourself in third person." Diggle is impressively snarky.

Totally agree on the Laurel comments. Her logic is ridiculous (how was he wasting time fighting Malcolm Meryln? He was trying to stop him from activating the devices, plus he would have gotten away easily if he hadn't) and I hate how she's playing cop all of a sudden. She is an ADA, I doubt that they'd let her join the front lines on a sting to take down someone with a body count in the double digits with not even a kevlar vest.

Other than that, the Ollie/China White/Bronze Tiger fight was about as cool as I was expecting and I definitely like where they're going with Roy.

Ya it's like she's willfully ignoring the fact that the hood was trying to stop Tommy's dad from setting of the device that dropped the fucking building on him and is instead mad that he couldn't save her boyfriend that she cheated on like 2 days before hand.

Also Diggs one liner is the best of the fall so far in my opinion.

I hate defending Laurel(I really hope someone kills her and if Black Canary is her sister, she can bond with Ollie again over Laurels death) but I think her, "I hate the hood now" shtick is more of an emotional coping mechanism than using actual reason.

Am I the only one who keeps expecting the guy who plays Roy to burst out laughing every time he talks about the hood?

I think Ollicity would really damage the show. The writer's IMO, have done a good job providing comic relief with her character. She also is growing into an equal with Oliver and Diggle (at least in the relationships between the three of them). The fact that she can put both of them in their place, have a strong role on the team, and still come across as unpolished at times makes her a brilliant character, and IMO, a relationship with Oliver would really screw that up. The minor tension between the two needs to remain.

That said, I too loved the "Black driver" comment. I also loved the "Coffeemaker is broken" comment.

Still, single best character comment ever:

Felicity, undercover with ear-piece: "It feels really good having you inside me."
