He is awesome, but with the current training spread, he's just not quite good enough. Doublade didn't faint on me once, but Aegislash is dropping to red quite often, and I just don't want to deal with that. The rise of the Helioptile is upon us!

    Current team:
    Helioptile (m) - 25
    Talonflame (f) - 61
    Greninja (m) - 59
    Aurorus (f) - 63
    Dragalga (m) - 57
    Goodra (f) - 55

Aurorus is quite possibly one of my favourite pokemon ever. She wrecks every single pokemon she goes against, and doesn't afraid of anything.

Just beat the champion and I have to agree with Vira: 11/10. I had high hopes for this game and they were met. I really enjoyed it start to finish. I didn't have the time to rush through it because of obligations (including my new job woo!) but I played every chance I got and don't regret it.

IMO, the supertraining was actually sort of fun and made EV training worth the time sink in a regular game (not competitive). I actually enjoyed the minigames.

    My final team was:

Jiraiya the Greninja: 81. I mostly supertrained him. He had maxed SPA and nearly maxed speed with some random stats thrown in from before I started training. No one ever managed to move before him, so for my purposes the randomly allocated stat points not in speed were a success. He hit like a truck and looked sweet, but I had some gripes. His coverage was great (ice, psychic, water, dark) but not quite the best fit for the game. His dark moves were not the best. Overall though, he was a solid pick. He's not quite the "trump card" I'd have liked, but better than any of the gen V starters by far.

Boros the Pyroar-lvl 76-Took me awhile to find a male Pyroar (because except for a select few pokemon, my parties tend to be sausage fests) but I'm glad I did because his final evo looks much better than the female equivalent imo. He was great at what he did, but he didn't do much. Fire wasn't really all that necessary and pretty much all he did was fire/normal. In addition to the restrictions on his moveset, his defenses were extraordinarily frail. On the rare occasion he didn't one-shot something with his high SPD and SPA, he would die to the followup. Still enjoyed having him around, but probably not a pick I'll repeat.

Titania the Florges-level 81. Mine was yellow. Leveled up Floette to level 70 (!) before evolving and her moveset was extraordinarily disappointing. No grass/fairy typing, but she learned one fairy move (which was admittedly great), a lot of status/battlefield moves, and a ton of grass moves. If you don't need petal dance/solar beam you can evolve her late 30s/mid 40s whenever you get her fairy move to replace fairy wind. She gets solar beam at 58 and nothing past that, unless I wimped out too early and she learns something in the 70-100 range. She was great for swapping into dragons but unimpressive speed, mediocre defense, and a lack of versatility in her moveset led to her kind of not pulling her weight. There are better fairy options out there I imagine, like Azumarill with her Huge Power and water STABs. I wouldn't add her to the party again. If I could find the black or blue flowers, maybe.

Goggles the Flygon-level 85. A staple to any party I make, Flygon never disappoints. With what seemed like less ice-types in general around, Flygon did work vs the poison/steel types that seemed more prevalent. Only gripe is that I couldn't find the necessary earthquake TM. Great stats, good typing with two immunities, and excellent coverage, I love flygon and as always would add him to my team.

Glycen the Goodra-level 80. A special defense master, this guy was a pretty great pick. Grass immunity was decent but nothing special. I think it procced once all game and it was a random trainer battle. Great typing and great coverage (dragon pulse, muddy water, thunderbolt, and sludge bomb for fairies) but his -defense nature left him victim to an outrage once or just a powerful physical attack once or twice. Goodra is a good addition to any team but I think Flygon's typing and coverage were slightly better for this game.

Last slot was a Hawlucha that did a surprising amount of work for the HM slave he ended up being. Cut/fly/strength/rocksmash!

Instead of moving onto the endgame, I'm starting my X version and hopefully starting an all-new party.

Wow, way to underutilize Hawlucha, hahah. Earthquake is on Route 22, you need Surf/Waterfall/Strength to reach it. Pretty straightforward rock puzzle.

After getting waterfall I just kind of zerged towards the end whenever I got a chance to play. I'll be sure to pick it up on this playthrough.

My Team when I demolished the Elite Four:

'Sora' the Klefki (lv 72): This little one was the David to the Elite Four's Goliaths. She thought the Dragon master in particular was adorable for trying.

'The Shadow' the Gengar (lv 69): He was my Anti Fairy defense as well as my Mega Special Cannon when I needed him.

'Vincent' the Vivillon (lv 69): The only beginner bug I've ever had that could not only hang with the big boys, but also just straight up Dominate.

'Merlin' the Delphox (lv 71): Speedy, Specially, and Firey. All things I can appreciate in a starter.

'Etna' the Tyrantrum (lv 68): Was a Godamn T-Rex

'Topgun' the Blastoise (lv 70): Named after my very first Pokemon from back in Blue Version, Topgun was every bit as reliable as his predecessor, with the added ability to be come Turtletillary at the drop of a hat.

    Player name: Walrus
After completing his childhood dream of becoming the Pokemon Champion, Walrus retired to Lumiose City where he is pursuing a career as hard boiled detective who doesn't always play by the rules.

Edit: have no idea why Etna's level is trying to be so cool...

I think you can get an Electabuzz from a friend safari. Don't know if any DLPer's safaris have it though...

Huh, is there really no level increase for the Elite Four in this game?

I really enjoyed the super-powered Elite Four in other games. Anyone found something like that yet?

With everything Nintendo/Gamefreak has done, this Gen really is starting to feel like Halo did . Now I don't mean fps blockbuster grenade spamming blah blah blah. No this feels like they made a great game and then poured every remaining ounce of energy into making an enjoyable and vast multiplayer experience.

Really. They mixed up the meta with two updates (Megas and Fairy). They've made competitive pokemon obtainable for even the least dedicated players. Friend safari pokemon guaranteed two maxed IVs, a hold item that guarantees the move of 5/6 IVs from parent to child, EV training has not only been simplified to the max it's been sped up as well, and most important of all they've made battles and trade and just communication with other players way more streamlined. (That's not even mentioning all the other updated or tweaked breeding mechanics or abilities that have been added.)

I don't know, I just get really excited because I've never bothered with competitive pokemon and It seems so much more feasible now.

At least until December when the Pokemon bank opens and the really well hacked pokemon get through.

I caught a Shuckle while I was looking for fossils. His defence and special defence look pretty decent, is it worth keeping and EV training or are there better options floating around?

Shuckle is beaten only by Deoxys in Defense and Sp Defense. Great fun to annoy friends with in battle.

So I just beat the Champion. I decided to use only Pokemon from Gen 6 in my first run. Was quite fun.

    Greninja - Level 73
    Talonflame - Level 73
    Aegislash - Level 74
    Malamar - Level 74
    Tyrantrum - Level 74
    Carbink - Level 57

And unlike other people who've had lower level Pokemon... Carbink swept through 3 of the Pokemon belonging to the Dragon Elite 4 member. Because it's just so tanky.

So I'm walking outside the daycare center waiting for an egg to hatch then all of a sudden bloody Moltres appears when I steer my bike into the grass. He then proceeds to flee before I have a chance to throw a quick ball. Has this happened to anyone else.

He'll appear to you twelve times, fleeing before you can do anything, then appear for a scripted encounter in Sea Spirit's Den.

Yep! That's the wandering bird legendary. In order to fight/capture it, you need to encounter it in the wild ten times. That is not an exaggeration. After encountering him enough, your wandering legendary bird (which is determined by which starter you chose: Articuno for Chespin, Zapdos for Fennekin, and Moltres for Froakie) will go hang out in the Sea Spirit Cave.

EDIT: Was it twelve? I thought it was ten. Either way, you have to encounter it way too many times.

Hmm my starter was a Froakie, I did have a Fennekin in my part though when he appeared.

Nah, apparently I was just wrong. Moltres appears if your starter is Froakie, and Zapdos if your starter is Fennekin. Sorry about that!

If there's anything I don't like about X/Y, it's there's no post-game. Sure, there's the Friend Safari and the Looker side quest, but other than that the only thing you can waste your time on is shopping.

I feel like restartting. I rushed through the game within three days and I'm kinda regretting it. The problem is I need someone to hold one of my Pokemon for me because I don't want to lose her. Any takers? D:
