    So I finally beat the Elite 4. Here's my team:

    Greninja- level 94
    Blaziken- level 79
    Raichu- level 69
    Diggersby- level 69
    Farfetch'd- level 76
    Yveltal- level 59

    Well, that's probably one of the best iv spreads I've gotten in a long time on a legendary without needing to reset. With the exception of that god awful defense iv (3), 4 natural 31 IVs on Mewtwo plus Hasty is a win in my book.

    If you can find a friend safari with dittos hold onto it. They're worth their weight in gold on the GTS. I've already been able to pick up a Japanese ditto and eevee for breeding and most of the first evolutions of the almost legendary pokemon.

    Can't you get ditto from the Secret Forest?

    DUnno, but foreign ditto work for the masuda method.

    You can find them normally in the pokemon village but they're pretty rare, they are lot easier to find and catch in the safari zone.

    Because you need foreign ones for the masuda method they're in high demand at the moment.

    The reason friend zones dittos are so valuable is actually their IVs, or individual values.

    Friend Safari Pokemon are guaranteed at least two perfect 31 IVs. Dittos, being able to breed with any Pokemon, can be used in a reasonably simple method of breeding in order to obtain Pokemon with perfect or near-perfect IVs, meaning that they would get the highest possible stats. This is, until now, virtually impossible without a cheating device and a Pokemon generating program like Pokegen or Pokesavs.

    So they are in really high demand. Also, they have a chance at spawning with their hidden ability, imposter, which causes them to transform into whatever Pokemon the first encounter in a given battle before the first move is made.

    For more information on the breeding process, feel free to consult this handy guide:

    Lol, maybe we'll all luck out and have a DLPer with a Ditto in friend safari.

    Based on my understanding of the way the friend system works, it may be possible to change what one's friend safari is by creating a new Mii and then linking it to a new game. The Friend safari is based on the numerical values in a person's friend code, from what I can gather. I may end up getting Y, and if I do i will probably try and get the Mii linked to that game to have a Ditto safari. I'm not sure yet, however, and that would probably take a lot of deleting Miis and remaking them, plus the time necessary to test it.

    I have seen people trading shinies and legendaries away for Ditto safari codes, in case that puts their value in perspective.

    It would be great if a DLPer had a normal safari with Ditto, I agree. It would save so much effort.

    Has anyone tried the chaining method to find a shiny? You can do it either fishing or with the pokeradar and it seems to be a lot more reliable than the masuda method.

    I want to try it, but I'm progressing rather slowly because real life...

    I haven't done it on this current gen but I did it on... Platinum I'm tempted to say when it first came out? It's a LOT more reliable way of getting shinies but it's also a pain in the ass.

    Don't think anyone has mentioned Pokemon-Amie yet but it's actually pretty useful, though takes a while to get full affection. Here are the in-battle benefits:

    20% increase in experience gained;
    Increased critical-hit ratio;
    Increased evasion chance;
    Chance to "shrug off" status effects;
    Chance to endure a hit that would otherwise knock it out;

    It's actually really easy to get up as well actually. Since I already have a ton of cakes for my pokemon I can just skip the games mostly. It takes me between 20-45 minutes to get full affection and AFAIK it stays forever.

    1. Rub your pokemon until it stops giving hearts and starts giving musics.
    2. Feed your pokemon until it refuses to eat. Plain cakes<swirly cakes<topping cakes. Feed them better stuff.
    3. Play a game with your pokemon to reset the values. If you need better cakes, play the headbutt game and get to around 200 for 5 topping cakes for max affection.
    4. Repeat steps 1-3 until max affection.

    Once you have a max-affection pokemon, be careful using them to try to catch things (because crits) and be aware that there is the downside of extra text/animations in each battle if you are trying to be speedy.

    You can also pat and congratulate a pokemon mid-battle by moving your finger/stylus in a circle around the blurred-out "fight" button while an enemy pokemon faints.

    Not sure how legit this is, as supposedly serebii took it off really quick when they realized they dropped it, but apparently there are a few event mons that haven't been added to the dex yet.
