Are there any stories that focus on professional dueling?

Read a fic years ago that suddenly popped into my head recently and thought I would like to read again to see if I would still like it. Can't for the life of me remember where I read it or if it was even finished and I can't find it in searches. Anyway, several Slytherins, all children of Death Eaters, spend the year taking turns trying to kill Harry. I think the Seven Deadly Slytherins is mentioned somewhere. Ring a bell with anyone?

It might be Harry Potter and the Year of the One? That's what came up when I googled seven deadly slytherins.

Anybody name any good stories where Harry absorbs Dumbledore's memories? Its been an idea I've liked for a long time and Taure's story has doubled my interest. I'm sure I read at least one before that was decent, but can't remember what it was called. Anybody think of any off the top of their head? Anything that would at least be good enough to go in Almost Recc'd?

Aha, that is the exact story I was referring to when I said I had read one before! Quality stuff. Do you or anyone else know any more? Even if they are guilty pleasures? I have tried searching but its very difficult to even know what to search for to bring up the right sort of thing...

Though I never finished it, what I remember of it suggests you might consider BajaB's The Memory Chest (160k words, complete), though it's not Harry absorbing memories so much as Dumbledore's leaving his Pensieve and memories for Harry. While the story is pretty old and hasn't aged particularly well, it's BajaB, who consistently puts out at least Almost Recommended quality.

Does anyone know any short fic that focuses on Umbridge getting her comeuppance? I don't recall her getting her just desserts in canon, and I wouldn't be opposed to reading a one-shot of Umbridge getting what's coming to her after the war. I would prefer that she retain her canon personality, but I'll take what I can get.

Heh. She got dragged into the depths of the Forbidden Forest by centaurs where they did God-knows-what, to the point where even a weak imitation of hooves clopping caused her to flash back.

    Implication... unpleasant.

And then she manages to get back on her feet and lord it over muggle borns for months.

Kind of sadistic of me, but I'd like to read something that takes that smug bitch down permanently.

Well she got back on her feet eventually. THere's a startling gap of Umbridge activity between the abduction and that part during Deathly Hallows. That's like 20 months, holmes.

Of course, could just be behind the scenes shit.

Looking for a fic that has a scene where Harry(maybe?) is explaining wizarding logic, he uses The Judgement of Paris as an example but with Paris actually being a wizard, so that instead of giving the golden apple to just one goddess he ends up using the gemino spell to multiply it into four apples, giving the three copies to the Goddesses while keeping the original and apparating away.

I've been searching for it for almost a week and I can't seem to find it thanks to all the crap I have had to wade through to find entertaining(not even good, or readable which is infinitly harder) fics on ff.net.

It's not really a priority to find it as I can't even seem to remember if the fic was good or not, but any help would be appreciated.

    Sincerely,
    Azathoth

Are there any GOOD HP/Abhorsen crossovers? I'm curious since the only two on FFNet that I found were disgustingly bad.

I'm assuming you've read Circular Reasoning? It has some elements of Abhorsen in it. But I'd also be interested in reading a more developed crossover. Too bad the fandom is pretty much non-existent.

Indeed I have, it's where I first saw it. After that I tried in vain. I'm attempting to write one (obviously) but I had hoped someone had broken ground on a real crossover before me.

I read a fic where Harry went all vigilante-style and started picking off known Death Eaters and ministry workers who he didn't see eye-to-eye with. However I can't remember the name.

All due to the fact that the Abhorsen Chronicles are basically awesome as they are written by Nix. I don't dare put my writing skills to the test of such a story.

The only one of these I remember sticking out at all is the one with the thestral and the my little pony doll.

No idea what it was called though. And I don't think it was finished (maybe it was, but I just couldn't finish it).
