A post HBP fic where Dumbledore gives Harry a list of tutors and contacts he already planned to train up Harry starting with a few months with Alastor Moody.

The story I think has the Order member Bill Weasley searching for HP only for him to see Harry kill some animal by turning its insides out near some forest at a cave.

There is also a huge battle between aurors and DE's in the Diagon Alley followed by a battle of Hogwarts where Harry still loses but improvises to kill Voldemort.

It also has Harry whining because Ginny promised to wait for him, but has cozied up to Dean Thomas.

Any idea of what the title is?

Indeed. I have a soft spot for competent Harry fics and just read a story similar to this written by a DLP member 'Cervus'.

 

Don't crucify me, but I'd like to know if there are any decent Draco/Hermione stories out there. "Decent" means:

1) Good technical writing

2) No "marriage law" shit

3) No "slavery" crap in the vein of "Fifty shades of Grey"

4) Includes an actual plot

5) Character development! No "wow, hot mudblood, let's tap that" BS

The reason I'm looking for this is a re-read of "Best Revenge" by Arsinoe de Blassenville, which gives some hints at DM/HG, but doesn't produce it due to their ages.

 

Amends, or Truth and Reconciliation by Vera Rozalsky features a slow-burning relationship between the two. It is also the most thoughtful exploration of post-war Wizarding society to be found.

It's a Hermione-Neville-Draco thing centered on Hermione with inappropriate use of Polyjuice, mentions of F-F and M-M encounters and an unfortunate tendency to float into and out of scenes, but I love the writer's style and the story really drew me in. Her versions of Hermione, Neville, Draco and several other prominent characters are believable twists on canon.

Of course the kink is strong here, but generally the sordid details are spared in favor of describing the emotional experience.

Special Bonus: Hermione has Draco use Polyjuice to embody the late Nymphadora Tonks in order to have sex with the woman Hermione always wanted but could never get. He complies, even though he has no idea who he embodied due to an absence of mirrors. Hermione also learns much about Draco by being Draco in much the same way.

 

I don't know guys, I've tried reading that one before and the characterization (specifically of Harry and his choice to pay all of Ron's debt but only a bit of Hermione's) is so far out there as to bug the crap out of me.

 

That bugs me, too, but I'm holding out hope that it's a plot point that'll mean something more much later- like the goblins wouldn't take his money for her debt to put her in a bind for reasons obscure and specific to Hermione's situation.

 

I may be misremembering this, but I want to say that he hadn't even spoken to the goblins yet. Bill Weasley had told them that the problem existed and that they needed to sort it out. Ron then says he can't pay it and Harry throws Hermione under the bus for no real reason.

 

Beyond the Sword

 

I'm looking for a specific fanfic in which, as far as I can recall, Harry is sent to another universe or something. He's paired with Narcissa, kills Lucius by tossing him out a window, and I think he might have become the divination teacher at hogwarts. In fairly sure I didn't read it at FFN, and I think someone on DLP might have recced it. Thanks.

I realize that I'm double posting, but this post is a request so I feelt it deserved its own post.

So I'm looking for either Slughorn party with Luna divergence or HBP potion book divergence that doesn't devolve nto shameles Harmony vomit.

 

The Slughorn party is the best spot for the Luna divergence, but I have yet to actually see it done well. I've got an outline for one, but I haven't had the time to write it yet.

I've been staying in baguette country for 3 months now, and my french is improving enough to read the original series, but it's kinda meeeeh when you know everything that is happening in advance...

---> Very old (2003) so there are some cliché (Magical Core, wandless magic, etc.) but even now there are some pretty amazing twist that I've never seen in any other fic. One of the first fic I ever read as well.

Sadly I've switched pretty early to english fanfiction, so I don't have much else to suggest.
