Hmm, the combat looks tasty, and the idea of enemies working together and truly needing to plan out encounters because your health doesn't automatically recover is a drastic improvement from Dragon Age 2's hack & slash style. It all looks very pretty.

That said, combat and graphics are a secondary concern for me. What I really want to see are engaging characters and a coherent plot, preferably one that can surprise jaded veterans of the genre. The lack of persistent interaction in the demo (seriously, one conversation with a total of three choices?) could be attributed to not wanting to spoil things, but I'm not inclined to give Bioware any leeway at this point. The whole 'returning to exploration' theme is just dishonest, because Bioware games have never been about that; that's Skyrim's shtick. Their best attribute was always the quality of the writing and thought that went into the games... To not really even talk about it, even in a 'sorry, not spoiling anything for you because this shit is just too good' kind of way, really makes me wary.

Necro, but concerns DAI and I see no point in staring a new thread.

    http://blog.bioware.com/2013/08/28/the-dragon-age-keep/

This is old, old news, but what do you think?

My question is: If Keep is supposed to function like a save generator and that's how it sounds, will it limit my options based on what games/dlcs you installed? As in, if I want to include DAO Witch Hunt in the "historical world state" I'm creating, will I need to have the dlc installed and verified by BSN/Origin account? (BSN probably in case of DAO, since Origin doesn't work for it) Or will just function like an official, Bioware approved version of the well known (at least among BSN members) Gibbed's Save Generator for DAII?

    http://social.bioware.com/forum/Dra...039s-Dragon-Age-Save-Generator-6421474-1.html

I'm hoping for the latter. If BioWare's marketing is actually based on facts and decision will matter, then sure I want to see how any combination of decisions made in the first two games plays out, but while I can burn through DAII in 20ish hours even on Nightmare, DAO is a pain in the ass to replay even on Casual due to long loading times and general structure of the game if you want to complete all side-quests etc. So if Keep will turn out to be a savegen, that'd be damn neat.

Don't worry about it. Going by the attitude David Gaider continues to have towards players actually wanting their choices to matter, none of the stuff will result in anything of import in the game when push comes to shove, regardless of current marketing (which is all the same stuff they said about choices in DA2 before it came out).

It's like you've forgotten that BioWare tells blatant lies to sell things or something.

No shit. I remember Casey Hudson talking about the ending of ME3 before it came out and how it wasn't going to be the "traditional RPG ending where you just pick A, B or C". lol.

Missing the point folks. Raine proved to us, many times over, that BioWare can't be trusted. I was asking for opinions on the Keep.

It will be shittier than it looks right now, and at least one of the features they've bragged about as a key point of import will be cut from the final game.

    Happy now?

    No.

I do kind of miss our heated discussion though.

I think this game is in a competition with Thief 4 for 'game with the most developer fuck ups' this coming year, but it's really hard to say... with EA pushing this game's release date back every few months.

EA fucks up a lot, but once in a while they do stuff right as well so I'm holding out hope for this. Certainly won't preorder it like I did DA2, but I'm not counting the game out just yet. The PAX demo and a couple of other videos I've seen have been impressive and the developers seem to be bringing back a lot of the good elements of DA Origins which is one of my top 3 favorite games of all time.

I'd also much rather the game keep getting pushed back into 2015 than a half finished game with little of what was promised.

As for the Keep, it does make me kind of wary since its exactly what Bioware and EA keep promising and failing at in Dragon Age and Mass Effect, but hey, maybe third times the charm.

Yep, I'll wait and see and hold out hope that it will be great. No point in counting your rotten eggs when they haven't even come into existence yet.

    Hear, hear.

I'll be happy if DAI tries to combine the best of its predecessors.

You can take it however you like. I'm not the one that still believes anything good can come from BioWare and EA.

No one asked you to bump the thread with no new news, either. I almost thought we'd found out something new for all of five seconds. I should have remembered that you'd be at least a day behind anything posted on /v/.

Lord Raine is feeling feisty and wants to pass on the disease of absolute and utter nihilism.

I'm not stopping you from having a rousing discussion about Dragon Age: Inquisition.

The lack of anything whatsoever to talk about is doing that. It's almost like the thread should have never been pointlessly bumped.

And I'm not miserable. I'm building the Hanging Gardens of Babylon in a Hallow desert in Terraria with a skype window up and a Let's Play running in the background. I'm quite content.
