In a lot of schools you can also start new subjects at GCSE too. The list of GCSE qualifications is huge. There are hundreds of possible subjects.

After reading all of this about the British school system, I have to admit, in some ways it actually makes me happy to go through the American system.

We have Incendio for fire, Aquagumenti for water. But what about Air, Earth and Thunder?

When in DH they said Albus, Aberforth and Gillert had a three way duel, where they all fighting everyone is a battle royal or was it the brothers vs Gillert?

Three way implies three sides, so battle royale.

Unless of course they had a different three way.

Bubble-head charm? It seems to be able to supply breathable air.

I was always under the impression that it started as a battle royale, and degrades into a brothers vs Gellert fight after Ariana got hit, with Gellert fighting to escape.

I thought they only realised an errant spell had hit Arianna after the dust had settled.

I think they stopped because something hit her and she dropped.

If she hadnt been hit they duel could have ended with one of them (Probably Aberforth) dead.

Do you think there are different wand grips and differences between each grip in terms of weaknesses andstrengths? Or does everyone grip their wand the same like with pencils (with regional differences but no functional ones)?

I haven't seen it done, but it could be an interesting addition to the generic duelling sequence to have different grips be more suited for certain spells. Say the first year Wingardium Leviosa is best cast with only the fingertips holding the wand, while the Reductor Curse requires a firm, stable grip on the wand instead.

Could add an extra dimension to duels where the wizards are watching for various grips to get a read on what their opponent is going to do next. Legilimency would obviously render this knowledge obsolete, but that's a very rare skill apparently.

    lol gripping wands

In Alexandra Potter different ways of holding a wand give the spell different amounts and types of power. Chapter five mentions that Transfiguration spells, being more powerful than most Charms, generally require a firmer grip. Later on we learn that drawing the wand back with a bent elbow (e.g. the duelling stance we see in the CoS movie) imbues magic with a more aggressive type of power that is more difficult to reverse/block, and thus the beginnings of the Dark Arts.

I completely forgot, but whose wand was Harry using in the final duel with the Dark Lord? Surely not his own as it was broken?

So, after reading fic 234,567 where Harry decides to use a glamour to move around unnoticed I have to ask.

Is there any canon basis for glamours? I honestly can't really remember anything like them (except, perhaps, partial human transfiguration).
