It could be any number of things. For the most part, a glamour is used to adjust how you appear physically. It doesn't actually change any physical aspects. So it could be something as simple as clearing up your skin to outright invisibility.

But I always equated glamour to be cosmetic changes or enhancements and not outright invisibility or disillusionment. ex: fairy glamour making their kind appear otherworldly, beautiful, and shiny, but underneath they were hideous.

So in conclusion Glamour seems to be like Wards. Just another word for something that hasn't officially been introduced into canon used by lazy writers because it's easier than trying to figure out the correct spells to use in their place.

From Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix:

So spells exist to change one's appearance, although of course they might fall under Transfiguration instead of Charms.

I think that's why I get annoyed with them, in much of fanfiction it seems like anyone can do some illusions to change eye/hair colour and a few aspects of their features. Some even have 'tactile' glamours that don't actually change you, but make people think, even when they touch you, that the changes are real (that obviously raises some interesting philosophical questions regarding the nature of reality, but let's not go there).

It raises the question, if they're so easy to do then why doesn't everyone use them? I suppose one could make up some societal reason, but it just doesn't seem to fit with the world as presented.

That's an interesting quote that I hadn't thought of.

But if the method of changing his appearance is 'the hard way' compared to being a metamorphmagus, who use self-transfiguration instinctively, then I assume it's an application of human transfiguration. Per canon, human transfiguration is hard, so that at least gives a reason for the seeming lack of a society of youthful looking model wannabes.

What's a more disturbing thought, is that Voldemort killed Snape with Dumbledore's wand.

That explains why Snape was always so angry.

Well ownership of it belongs to Harry, so even if someone did have it, it wouldnt work well for them.

Possession is nine-tenths of the wand.

Isn't Wormtail supposed to have grabbed it? He returns it at the resurrection scene in GoF, doesn't he?

    EDIT: ah, wrong defeat.

I'm sure Shacklebolt or anyone else with a brain yoinked it off Voldemort's corpse.

Did he even have it with him at the last battle? Had he not been using the Elder Wand for a while at that point?

He had his wand up until the death of Snape I thought. Besides where else would he have left it after taking the elder wand?

It has been a long time since I last read DH but I think Voldemort pocketed his wand after using it to crack open Dumbledore's tomb.

Knowing of Voldemort's sentimentality, it is unlikely that he would throw away his first wand. In fact, I'd argue that if he won, he would eventually turn it into another Horcrux.

Anyone have any recommendations on how to fix formatting on FF.net? It's apparently changed from .docs :/

Open it in LibreOffice and save as .odt? It is possible that their converter is less stupid than one used by ff.net (they recommend using LibreOffice, so maybe it will work properly).

Note: I never uploaded anything to ff.net.
