In their mad quest to catch 'em all, Disney acquired yet another one.

So, they have Marvel, Star Wars, now Indiana Jones.

What will the get next is my question.

 

I think this is plenty for now honestly and a very wonderful welcome change.

Disney should know how to do this right.

 

Indiana Jones V: there are still CGI gophers, but now they sing as well.

It obviously will be Indiana Jones vs. Han Solo.

 

Bring it. They'd have to really try hard to fuck it up worse than vine swinging and nuclear fridge bomb bullshit.

 

I don't know where all the hate of Disney is coming from; they're very, very good at making decent movies. Not always amazing ones, but generally not horrible ones either.

And I'll be honest, I was sort of surprised to find out that Disney didn't already own Indiana Jones.

 

Pretty sure Disney is just buying up any and all franchises Harrison Ford does, or could potentially, star in from now until his cryogenic freezing.

 

It isn't so much that I think Disney make bad films, it's that I really can't see the need for another Indy film. I actually quite enjoyed Crystal Skull, which I know puts me in a minority, but Ford was creaking a little in that, and he's 71 now. If they make Indy the focus of any film, then it's going to be ridiculous. And given that the alternative seems to be Shia LaBeouf...

 

Or they could just regenerate the franchise with a new actor. Set in whatever time period they felt would sell best, given the established timeline. I could see that working quite well.

 

Indiana Jones teaming up with either James bond or Sherlock Holmes would be awesome.

But nah, more seriously I suppose they could adapt some of the novels or some such out there. Does Indy have anywhere near as much of an expanded universe as StarWars does?

 

I could imagine Olyphant as Indy. He can carry the hat and has an attitude mix between Eastwood and Ford.

 

I didn't mind Crystal Skull, though the fridge bit and vine swinging made me want to cry at the stupidity of it. Instead of risking Ford breaking a hip or using Shia LaBeouf (god help us if they do that) I wouldn't mind seeing some movies about Young Indy using a new actor.

 

I don't understand. How will they film more Indiana Jones when Indiana Jones has grown this old?

 

There are a bunch of "Young Indiana Jones" books that could potentially be made into movies. I remember them being pretty decent reads for young teens and that's something Disney's pretty good at.

 

They could easily do like James Bond, just bring in a new actor. No fancy excuses, just a "This guy is now playing Indy".

 

I wouldn't mind if they got a good enough actor and could bring back/maintain the old style of the series. They could always just pretend the last movie never happened and keep it set in the WWII era.

 

I wouldn't mind a young Indy kind of story; something like the beginning of Last Crusade, but an entire feature film.
