Man, UQ Holder just feels like the most generic shit I've ever read.

There's like nothing new here, I feel like I've read this manga a hundred times before. I only keep up with it because it pops up on my feed.

 

I am unbelievably happy that Hwa Ryun showed up. Best chapter ever.

 

While I don't mind Hwa Ryun in particular, I'm a little conflicted about the fact that she saw this coming and Baam's escape was yet another FUG stratagem. I really, really want him to get away from them at the end of this season, both for the credibility of his character and for the sake of injecting some fresh air into the plot, and having an element of 'all as planned' still in the works implies that he's no closer to breaking free right now than he was to start with.

 

Yeah I agree. I'm sick of him being a puppet too. Specially to F.U.G whom I hate. But something Hwa Ryun said gives me hope. She said that Yuto was told to get close to the elders and then switch with her. Implying that the F.U.G elders don't know about this plan. Sounds like a third faction maybe. As much of a reach as it might be, I'm hoping they are on his side. At least a tiny bit.

 

It's the other way around. The Elders in question are the ones that split off into their own faction in disagreement with the original plan to leave Viole with personal autonomy. On top of that, Karaka is playing his own game to try and be the one to kill Zahard despite being both the youngest Slayer and not even the original Karaka.

Hwa Ryun isn't part of a third faction, she's part of Yu Han Sung and Jinsung's, which is the original one in charge of the original plan that's still in play. Even climbing with Wangnan was part of their plan from the start. That's why Augustus was reporting on the continued success of the plan to YHS way back on the twentieth floor.

The fact of the matter is we're dealing a seer and a person two ranks higher than Koon in intelligence. If Baam does break off and go his own way, he'll probably still be doing what they want because they would have predicted this and have plans accounting for it to ultimately still reach their goal of Zahard's death, which is all they care about. Their level of Keikaku bullshit makes Aizen look like a braindead monkey.

 

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. That definitely makes more sense.

 

Which will make it all the sweeter if Koon actually does get the better of them in the end here.

No worries about a cancellation right now, I guess. Will be interesting to see how Oga takes care of business without Baby Beel, but the smart guess is that Hilda will show back up with the kid when he's about to get mauled by Fuji.

Oh my god it's finally happening. It's about fucking time, but holy shit Nine Arts face in that last panel. I honestly can't think of a single moment in any manga that I've looked forward to as much as this reunion. What I want to know is how much Nine Arts knows about what Shioons been up to, judging by his face at the very least he didn't expect to be seeing him.

 

I felt Baam has been nerfed a bit to show us how big a deal human ignition weapons really are. Though he did deal with Beta handily enough, if with a bit of help - but that's still okay for me since: 1. he couldn't do large AoE stuff without putting the others in danger, 2. he didn't need to use any of his ignition weapon/"thorn"'s power to do it.

I wish SIU would stop drawing and get his next wrist surgery done, though. I'm willing to wait awhile if it means not coping with (relatively) substandard art.

 

He did use the thorn. He used it to boost Hwajeopgongpahsool at the end.

I guess this removes the last logical obstacle and forces the finals to happen. Would have made much more sense for Koon to just reveal some escape plan and split now that he has what he came for, until this development took place.

 

A bit irritated with the Shokugeki no Soma update. All this side-characer filler has been going on for quite some time now - they're not bad, per se, but I'm getting a bit bored. Hopefully it'll only be another chapter or 2 of this.

 

I glanced at Souma and wondered when Hitsugaya was going to get his turn to cook.

 

Kingdom seems to be working up to an awesome few chapters. It's difficult to resist looking at the raws...

Not sure how I'll feel in either case if Moubu wins or loses, though I feel he has to win for plot purposes.

 

Historically I think he is one of the commanding generals in the Qin conquest of Chu later down the line, so he at least has to survive. But yeah, he probably will win.

Beelzebub.

I was really kinda hoping that we would see Oga win a major boss fight with nothing but his own power. Always had it in the back of my head that he, separate from Beel, had something more than human to him and that we might finally get to see that play out here. But it doesn't seem to be the case, and I can't really call it a disappointment.

And apparently Beelzebub is in fact ending/getting cancelled. Really annoys me to see that happening while absolute shit like Naruto and Bleach still pollute the pages.
