Being Hokage is too much work-ttebayo. Naruto retires after the war and spends the rest of his life being serviced by a harem of his female clones. Best ending ever.

 

I have images of Naruto losing the Kyuubi and leaving Konoha Jiraiya style, swagging bitches all across the Elemental Nations and reviving the Uzumaki Clan :awesome

 

While I expected that Naruto may not become a Hokage by the end of the series because I'm under impression that not letting the main character achieve their dreams is as popular in a Japanese fiction as letting them do it is in a Western fiction. But Sasuke becoming one? Unless there is a serious character change in him, it would go against what a Hokage position was suppose to be about.

 

Lol, Kishi be trolling. He's certainly thought about Sasuke becoming Hokage from the beginning.

This all seems like the set up for one of those, Naruto get's kicked out of the village and they make Sasuke Hokage just to fuck with him, fanfics. The only thing we're missing is a mob of villagers throwing stones at the 'demon'.

 

I must say while I dislike Sakura for the most part, I think she would make a better Kage then Sasuke. Although there is room enough that Kishi could end the series with Tsunade still being Hokage.

 

I actually expect something more along the lines of Naruto dying in order to take down Madara, and Sasuke deciding to become Hokage to honour his name, but who knows?

Yeah I actually expect that scene to be in a flashback near the end no matter what, whether he dies or not.

 

That would make a terrible ending! Ugh! Then Sasuke would be Hokage and the Uchihatards would rein supreme for a thousand years. It'd be nearly as bad as the Canon Epilogue on HP!

 

If Naruto is going to die my hope is that Sasuke pulls a Vegeta and dies with him. Sakua could become hokage in their memory.

 

Or Kakashi or Shikamaru or Konohamaru etc.

And Tsunade's not even dead yet.

 

None of them are as powerful as Sasuke or Naruto. You know that as well as I. The Hokage is supposed to be the Most Powerful nin in the village.

Konoharmaru, really? He's Chunin, maybe Special Jounin level last time we saw him.

Shika doesn't have the strength or drive or desire to be Hokage. Tsunade is aging quickly.. Kakashi.. maybe. That would be interesting and acceptable.

 

My point was more that everyone and their mother is a more likely candidate than Sasuke despite how strong he is. Those guys just stand out for in-story and meta reasons:

Kakashi's obvious and was a candidate when Tsunade went out of commish until Danzo mindfuckery, then he was about to become Hokage before she woke up. Shikamaru's been lampshaded (is that the right term?) in the manga to have some ideal Hokage traits (e.g. chasismatic speech on the Shinobi Alliance) and he's grown more and more responsible over time. Konohamaru's Naruto 2.0, his student/rival and grandson of Hiruzen so give him a few years he'll probably be there.

Only way I can see Sasuke becoming Hokage is if he not only does something ridiculously heroic in this war but spends many years as a devoted leaf-nin until he's finally acknowledged by the majority of Konoha and Kakashi, the Rokudaime, retires and puts him in charge. And Konohamaru would probably still make more sense than him.

I guess I'm just not overly worried about Sasuke becoming Hokage. Kishi may have "always thought about it" but thinking about it and planning to do it are two different things.
