It's pretty entertaining indy!harry crap.

 

The Merging is basically the sort of story that'll make you want to write a fic where, after finding out he has loads of money, a 12 year old Harry Potter blows it all on solid gold gobstones and Dark Art books from Knocturn Alley which turn out to be cleverly bound recipes for apple pie and then spends the rest of his Hogwart years being broke and disliked because of his know-it-all attitude.
Yeah, it's your typical Independent!Harry fic.

 

Yeah, the Merging is alright. It's not fantastic, but it's readable.

Taure is correct in saying that the Author's writing gets demonstrably better chapter by chapter.

3.5/5, rounded down because of cliches and the early chapters.

I'd like The Merging a whole lot more if the author didn't try to cover Harry becoming a shonen protagonist as him merging with the soul of a 60 year old psychopath.

 

I really like one thing about "The Merging" - it deals with my pet peeve of Umbridge confiscating Harry's broom. Other than that it's a pretty good indy Harry, I'd give it a solid 3/5.

A HP/SW crossover that I find readable. Though it drags at parts, it's pretty entertaining.

 

Yeah, the readable ones are hard to find.

 

The whole demon war in the first chapter was just so fucking awful, I couldn't get past it.

 

I felt pretty much the same way, but skimmed the demon war crap and tried out what came after - the next few chapters are also far, far away from being in any way decent.

 

It's plums what do you want? Bad smut and Super Harry. About the demon war: It seems he really likes Warcraft, he used the demon war excuse in most of his "works".

 

I read this a few days ago, and while it started off fine (aside from the demon war), it drags on too much.

Its like an essay where everything is being described, but there really is no focus on the story.

 

Not to mention terrible Indy Harry cliches like the old "How did we never discover to do this before! Thanks Harry!. Classic "Harry learns how to do really really obvious magic, that nobody in thousands of years has considered."

It's a pretty old crossover, I tried to search if anyone posted it here but couldn't find it. If you can get over the fact that, harry can some how do wand less magic then go ahead it's good read.

Last Second Savior is pretty much a guilty pleasure sort of fic. I've been following it since chapter 1, and it really is a standard plums fic. Most of the issues have already been pointed out in this thread. I usually enjoy it, but in the last chapter, plums showed a rather shocking misunderstanding of the Jedi way - his explanation of the Jedi taboo to marry was him destroying the universe for his protagonists to have legally and morally acceptable sex. Still, it's okay if you like a slower, comforty super!Harry romp with a bunch of women.

Decent idea but pretty slow. I hated that author took Harry's magic away but learning curve for new power's is interesting. I hope it won't turn into slash though.
