Not to ruin the fun, but didn't JKR declare 'only UK actors except when the role is a foreigner' as a condition for the movies to be made? I'd always admired that.

 

I thought that was only for initial casting, she had less power form movie 3 onwards.

 

Pretty sure it was for all movies. I remember people got pissed when an american actress was suggested to play a young Lily in the 6th movie.

 

I could see the reasoning behind it, but I would rather have anyone in the position so long as they can fit it than someone less skilled who was born British.

Hugh Laurie made a great American in House, but Kevin Costner made the worlds worst Robin Hood.

 

This. If they could pull off the accent, that's really all that mattered.

David Shore couldn't believe Hugh Laurie was British when he chose him for House - that was how well Hugh Laurie had the American accent.

On the topic of movies:

It has been 13 years since Philosopher's Stone movie was released and only 3 years since DH part 2, but, knowing modern movie studios...

...I wonder when or if we will see remakes appear. Search your feelings, you know it to be true. They're gonna happen. The question is when. 2020? Later?

 

I'd much rather see full length animated features, truer to the books (ie more complete and less fan-girlish), than a remake. Make it a series on Cartoon Network or something and just take it show by show until it's all told, then they can sell it on DVD ala Clone Wars.

I suspect that if animations were to be done, they'd be CGI like Frozen etc.

 

I would prefer animation of some sort, if only because the Movies were a part of my childhood I grew up with and I would hate to see a new live action one to mock it. There's a reason I never bothered to see the new Spiderman movie even before I heard it was bad.

 

No CGI. Something like Clone Wars would be glorious. But a TV series or full length movies? The writng and acting in the movies would be better, maybe much better, but with a tv series we we would finally see some classes and learn about other houses in depth. Imaginary choices, always the hardest ones.

 

The Average high budget Hollywood movie cost 200 mill, the HP movies are guaranteed return on investments.

So lets say 7-10 movies (Maybe add some supplementary movies in like they are planning for Star Wars) you have a combined budget of 2 billion.... BUILD HOGWARTS!!!!!

 

I was wondering if people could provide any term they can think of to use as an alternative or synonym for 'ward,' used in the books or otherwise, just as a general resource for anyone interested in editing that term out of their stories.

This would be things like :

magical protections
defensive enchantments
and so forth, etc etc.

 

In addition to Protections and Enchantments, how about Defenses, Walls, Barriers, Bespellments.
