The only that springs to mind at all is Magicks of the Arcane. I wouldn't say there's much worldbuilding, but there's some.

Looking once more for Dumbledore-Centric stories. I've already read two crossovers on DLP, one with Bleach and the other I think was Guild Wars, sadly both unfinished.

Still, Dumbledore is such a complex character that reading about his adventures would be nice.

 

I wish there were Competent Fudge stories.

 

So, I've recently read a story where Harry wasn't the focus of the Voldemort conflict (his brother and alive parents -- enough said!), but where he was living his life with his own goals -- the plot was parallel and not really related to the rehashed canon one, familial ties aside.

He was the main character, obviously, but what caught my attention was that he had relationships with multiple, well-written OCs over the years, like a normal teenager, (and I mean OCs -- not just authorial self-inserts) that weren't just, like, background characters in the books with no personality that people conveniently use, like a certain Greengrass.

Anyone know of any more stories like this? A fleshed-out OC romance? Cross-House boundaries are a plus!

Hmm, I remember reading about some Harry/Tonks fanfic last year, I can't remember the exact specifics of it, and I didn't really enjoy it all that much out of all H/T pairing-themed fanfics I've read, but the fact that I can't remember what it's called is annoying me to hell and back.

All I do remember about it is Tonks is talking to Sirius about Harry, about how he doesn't remember her from when they were really small, obviously she was older than him but still a kid herself, and he doesn't know how much she cares for him.

I really, really hope someone might help me out in regards to this, it's driving me quite bonkers for no good reason.

 

Uncertain if this has been asked before, but last night I had a dream about a FF of questionably quality from a few years back that I might want to read again. The premise is that "the light" dominates wizarding politics and sends kids off to hogwarts for propaganda training while Riddle and HP fight against it.

I vaguely recall a specific one, but I'm sure this particular premise isn't uncommon and I can't really remember any more details.

 

This request stems from having read An Unfound Door by Joe recently again.
Basically, I'm searching for fics with a cool, aloof, intelligent kind of harry that's addicted to something but doesn't consciously admit to being so. Kinda hard to describe the premise.
In Joe's fic, he's a loner Ravenclaw that found a secret lab/workshop where he learns all kinds of nifty stuff no fifth-year should know. He's determined, up to some seriously illegal stuff and quite epic on top of it all, though quite socially apathetic. He downs his self-made elixier "every now and then", though you quickly notice he's just making excuses to have it as often as possible.
Of course, this is just an example for the general kind of story I'm searching for.
What I want is, essentially, a Harry that's lonely on his own volition, because he gets his things done easier that way, though the fallout of his shennanigans looms right around the corner.

 

Any decent Harry/Cho fic? I don't know why but I had this sudden urge to read one.

 

A little late, but if you don't mind a short fluff piece, I think this is quite nice despite its silly title.

Eh, it's not breaking any new ground. But the prose is readable and the characters are generally in their proper voice, so that makes it better than most things.

Hmm, I got another question to ask.

There was this one fanfic, it was post-Voldemort or post-war or however you call it, but not everything is going swimmingly, so to speak. I remember that Ron and Hermione are together, Harry is... I think he was on his own, or divorced from Ginny.

The most distinct thing I remember about it is Hermione is actually an Unspeakable, who got kidnapped by Dolohov on some mission for the Department, and got fed some kind of potion that's supposed to kill people by somehow fucking up their internal magic, or at the very least make them squibs/deprive them of magic. I remember Hermione got fed that potion, but lived through it and had to go off away from the wizarding world for some unspecified amount of time because proximity to magic apparently caused the leftovers from the potion in her system to act up.

Anyone have a clue as to what I'm talking about?

 

I read a similar story years ago, but can't recall the title. If it's the one I'm thinking of, Harry has to sacrifice his magic in the end and becomes a Squib so Hermione can live (and it ends with an H/Hr pairing).

 

Hmm, no, that's not the one. From what I recall, Hermione just has to flush that shit out of her system and she'll be all right and proper for using magic, and that's not even halfway through the fic, I believe.
