I'm looking for an old fic where Harry was sorted in Slytherin and where Voldemort's horcrux in him was kinda active. I don't remember much but in First year Harry killed troll using some kind of parseltounge magic and in Second year, while possessed by horcrux, changed trajectory of AK from Tom Riddle's shade.

 

Oh dear lord.

I guess that's why the fic has the 'conspiracy' in title.

 

And that's only the first chapter.

 

I assume Dumbledore has been stealing from his vaults as well. Wouldn't be a proper conspiracy without it.

Let's not forget about blocking his magic's potential, or magical core or whatever they call it in this fic.

Oh and Hedwig is Lily actually.

And there's a pending marriage contract somewhere in there as well.

Hermione's in on it too, obviously, Dumbledore promised her either unlimited access to the library or help with getting a job in a Ministry that hates muggleborns.

 

DLM used to be a regular here and he's at least a competent writer mechanically. The fic ain't nearly as shit as you or the other new guy are making it out to be. Though I've not read it since it was first published, I recall it as being of "almost recommended" quality.

 

Well yeah, it's technically readable. If you're willing to wade through piles upon piles of shit cliches like Manipulative!Dumbledore stealing from Harry's vault, and NotSoNice!Molly Weasley, who wants a piece of the fortune and is planning to get it by feeding Harry love potion so he'll marry Ginny. Oh, and Dumbledore is also plotting to murder Harry, which has been his plan ever since he placed Harry with the Dursley's to make him weak and pliant.

 

Pointing out the bashing cliches being used in the fic doesn't necessarily mean people are talking shit about it. Merely pointing out the facts.

And whether one is a regular here or not shouldn't have any bearing whatsoever in this case.

 

DLM being a regular could -- if we stretch our minds and really try to understand the situation deeply -- imply that he earned the right to a modicum of respect, which you're being rather politely nudged into observing, since right now the tone of your discussion is less 'critical' and more 'shitting on'.

I used to like The Potter Conspiracy, I remember it was creative if cliched and had some good character interactions later on -- but it's been probably years since i read it. Might check it out again.

 

I remember reading that fic way back when it was being written and liking it. There are definitely cliches it, but back in 2009 those cliche ideas were much easier to read and accept. I wasn't quite as fed up with certain elements of HP fandom as I am these days. Still, rereading it does bring back those good memories of wasting away in front of my computer plowing through ffnet reading whatever fics looked interesting no matter how bad they turned out.

Anyway, has anyone seen any fics where Harry is modeled after Grindelwald? Dislikes muggles? Perhaps he wants to conquer them? I've had this idea rolling around in my head recently about a Non-BWL Harry who grows up in a orphanage, and starts thinking of muggles as lesser beings once he finds out about magic (he's okay with muggleborns). You get the idea.

 

A bad fic is a bad fic, there's no need to pussyfoot around the fact.

In 2009 stories packed that full of those particular cliches were still good fun for a lot of people, although as I recall I didn't get into it at the time, for that very reason. If it was an almost recced fic then, it probably isn't even that anymore.

 

99% of things I read before 2010 are bad fics now. The fact is, we at DLP, as a collective whole, grew immensely tired of bad cliches. Potter Law has made us strong, but at the expense of many Almost Recommendable stories we enjoyed before that time.

Now we've seen so many fics from DLP (and select others) that are good enough to be their own stand alone works of literature (Wastelands of Time as an obvious example) that even stories we thought were 5/5 five years ago wouldn't make the library.

Potter Conspiracy is, unfortunately, one of those fics.

 

As a rule, I tend to recommend fics down to "almost recommended" quality. If we are to only recommend fics in the Library or that are Library worthy, then there'd be no real need for this thread. (One can just do a keyword search or a google search limited to DLP library threads.)

 

I'm looking for a fic that has Harry after OotP after some miscommunication going on a rampage believing that everybody he cared about is dead. Any thoughts?

I'm looking for a fic that had Harry and Augusta Longbottom talking (I believe Sirius was there as well, but I might be misremembering it), and mention was made that Augusta had caught Snape ... I can't remember if it was raping someone or something else criminal, but I do remember her mentioning that Dumbles covered it up / made it all go away.

Anyone know the fic in question / a fic like this?

 

Harry Potter/Worm crossovers, anyone?

 

I`m looking for a fic where at least Harry, Hermione, Ron, Draco and Blaise somehow travel to another dimension while eating ice cream, Luna and Neville may have been part of the group but I`m not certain. I remember Ron being drugged by the alternate order with veritaserum and Malfoy being interrogated by Sirius.
