Androgynous is more looking ambiguous. We're talking about a god literally changing their body on a whim, which probably falls a little outside any discussion of gender or sexuality we might have.

I'm with the article on Hawkeye. They've announced a third Thor film, they'd get the shit kicked out of them if they killed Black Widow due to her being pretty much the only regularly appearing woman, Hulk is...well, Hulk. It's going to be a struggle to kill him convincingly. Stark is the most charismatic member of the team, and he's shown up in Guardians of the Galaxy in the comics, so there's potential to bring him into that franchise. Hawkeye is kinda meh, although dropping Cap for a while to replace him with Bucky could be intriguing. That'll depend on how Winter Soldier plays out.

Winter Soldier has been given the go ahead for a sequel so it's not Cap.

Vision being part of the cast makes me doubt he or his wife will die. Inhumans are supposed to be the next big thing in the MCU, so I doubt they'd kill the avenger married to the Princess of the Inhumans so Pietro should be fine. Plus the twins were only introduced because Whedon wanted a more varied power set.

Hawkeye, Rhodey and Widow are the most likely to bite it. With Wanda joining the cast, Widow's safety as the girl of the team is no longer certain. Hawkeye doesn't pull in crowds like the big 3 avengers and Rhodey's black.

I'm thinking Iron Man, actually. Downey's already done three films (four if you count Avengers) and there's already been rumors a while back about him leaving. They've got Rhodey to carry on the legacy/franchise after all. They could also introduce Black Panther to replace him, since he covers some of the same fields as well (though Black Panther is so much more awesome).

I don't get why Joss Whedon would choose to say something like that before the movie comes out. As a director, just by himself, he has as many fans as Scorsese or Spielberg. The Marvel and comic book fans are legions unto themselves. Casual moviegoers will see it. It's not going to bump up ticket sales and word of mouth is already substantial.

Why not save the shock for opening night? No wonder I don't like a single thing he's ever made, just no class at all.

Well, it's probably because it IS Joss Whedon.
Major Character Death is pretty much his calling card, it'll come as a bigger surprise if none of them do.

Unless Savage is right and the new movie stars Bucky.
...or maybe he dies in Winter Soldier, Bucky stars in Age of Ultron, dies there, and the sequel to Winter Soldier is about bringing Rogers back.
Though that one's probably a huge stretch since I'm pretty sure Rogers' actor has been announced to star on Ultron already.

If true, this has a high chance of being correct...But RDJ is just too essential to the franchise to lose him.
Not saying they can't, but if they do, they'll lose a LOT of the audience, in my opinion.
There's seriously a hero named "Black Panther?" :|

He was invented before the Black Panther party was created by like a few months. Creators: Stan Lee & Jack Kirby. Status: Greatest superhero ever created. Bar none. Your Supermans and Spidermans can get down on their knees and give hail to the King, the King of Kings.

Where else would they get Vibranium from?

    :Edit:
I was bored and checked Black Panther's wikipedia page. Under the "Background" section, there is the line:
"After defeating would-be usurper Erik Killmonger and his minions, the Panther ventures to the American South to battle the Ku Klux Klan."

    I chuckled.

Eb. It read to me more like someone asked him "Are you going to kill an Avenger?", because that's what he's notorious for, and he said "Maybe, maybe not". Nothing conclusive there one way or another, even in his actual comment.

Antartica/Savage Land? Savage Land is basically Marvel's "dinosaurs secretly survive somewhere on earth" place and it has a different strain of vibranium from a different meteor falling to earth. DC's got Dinosaur Island and Skartaris.

I liked that arc, actually. His American girlfriend Monica Lynn (a cabaret singer back then and just a popular musician now) had her sister get killed by the Society of Spiritual Light (cult with some KKK overtones).

T'Challa went with her to investigate her death and wound up in the middle of a war between the SSL and the KKK that included him being tied to a cross and nearly set on fire (one of the more poigant images of the early years is T'Challa breaking free of the burning cross and going on to kick the asses of both the SSL and the KKK), his girlfriend's dad finding out his spiritual leader (being a member of the SSL) had been responsible for his daughter's death and some pretty poigant commentary on people's reactions and perceptions of a tribal African king at the time.

Some strong historical value in that arc, actually, since it was also a pretty big thing back then as well, when the KKK were still a pretty big thing in some areas of the country. Marvel and the writer (McGregor I think) got death threats for it.

With Scarlett J being in the middle of a shitstorm of Hollywood controversy, representing some company with Israeli interests or something equally as stupid, I'm betting she's the one that dies, along with her career. This wouldn't be the first or the fifty-first time someone's lost their career for going against the Hollywood elite mindset.

This controversy is monumentally stupid, because the woman is a liberal, but she's still getting liberal-raged on.

Besides, they've got a new woman that can take her place. Scarlet Witch.

One that can count the times he's picked up a comic in one hand. Generally not my cup of tea, sorry.

Googled him. Looked fairly interesting, so I'd like to see him in the movie.
I wonder if DC or Marvel ever addressed that he kinda looks like a capeless Batman.
As an aside, my favorite hero that I can currently think of is actually Wally West.

Last I heard Feige thinks Wakanda is too silly a concept to put in MCU so don't expect T'Challa. Atlantis is also banned since Namor's rights are still with Universal.

Relatedly, It's been confirmed the 5 Netflix mini-series (Iron Fist, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, defenders crossover) is being done by Marvel's film division rather than Marvel TV like Agents of shield and will be canon to MCU.

If the Black Widow dies, I won't be happy. In the Ultimate universe and the MCU, her relationship with Hawkeye is one of the more intriguing relationships in the comics. She's also an asset to the Avengers, considering her links to both the Captain America franchise and the Iron Man franchise.

I can agree with that. Well, Wakanda as it is in the comics. I think the concept could be worked into something better.

Eh? Her relationship to Hawkeye in the ultimate universe is being the murderer of his family and team traitor before he justifiably kills her.

In the MCU Natasha doesn't really serve much purpose other than being team girl. I like Natasha but she can easily be replaced role wise by Hawkeye's lover Bobbi/Mockingbird (who is just as trained as Natasha and a SHIELD agent) or Sharon Carter without pretty much missing a beat.

Natasha's evil in the comics? I thought she was Cap's girlfriend or something.
Are my Black Widow/Loki OTP musings accurate?
    (Kidding on that last one.)

She's Bucky's girlfriend in 616/Main universe last I checked. Cap is trying to hook up with Wanda right now.

In ultimate verse which MCU takes a lot of world building from Natasha betrayed the team and helped Loki attack the ultimates/avengers and murdered Hawkeye's wife and infant children. The moment Tony bashed her head in and Hawkeye killed her were incredibly satisfying.

As a whole MCU uses the more heroic 616 personalities excluding Tony who is flat out ultimate Tony and Nick Fury.

Hopefully Pietro is more ultimate than 616 as well because he was consistently the unsung hero of the team and openly one of the most heroic until Ultimates 3.

Ultimate Pietro saved his team a dozen times in every fight:

Wakanda under McGregor and Priest leant a lot more to the realism side of things than what Hudlin wound up introducing to the lore and would fit in really well as a setting (Priest's writings especially). Guy had some good ideas to introduce, but making Wakanda a secret superpower that had been so for thousands of years and had the cure to cancer but just didn't feel like sharing rubbed me all kinds of wrong after Priest's take on Wakanda. Though to be fair, when Stan Lee and Jack Kirby introduce the "Techno-Jungle" in the first few appearances of the character, you've probably got some leeway in making them super-techy.
