I feel like when it comes to these really crazy evil supervillains there's a fine line an author needs to walk to make them believable. They have to be either incredibly clever (Jack Slash) or incredibly powerful (Nilbog/GU). If you don't do either one of these believably you have all the dead S9 members as your evidence, because the authorities will kill you.

I believe that this Blight character is as bad as the author wants to portray him, but being able to get away from the good guys? Stay alive? Get on a train or bus or whatever and drive up to Taylor's college?

Really, tell me more. Because if this guy is as bad as he is portrayed as then the FBI should be up his ass 24/7.

I sort of expect that there'll be Wardens appearing in Blight's wake [for story telling reasons], so I don't think he'll appear entirely unhounded.

Blight's killed over three hundred people. I'm not sure why a SWAT sniper hasn't managed to kill him, but it's reasonable enough. Could be speed, regeneration, unpredictability, Master powers, manipulating his environment, or any of a bunch of other powers that allows him to consistently escape death by sniper and/or an army of Wardens.

If his face is known to the public, then he can still force his way into a family car and force them to drive him.

Looks like he's a Shaker, seems to leech the life from plants. Could be an energy leecher, which would let him stand against pretty much all modern weaponry.

I was thinking he might leech heat, make things cold, cause blizzards, freeze plants and people. There are hints in that direction. I guess we'll find out soon.

Could be a similar shard to Winter then, whose power was essentially entropy in action.

Danny's characterization was incredibly creepy. If it wasn't intentional, then it's really bad. If it was intentional, then that particular character development is interesting, even if the rest of the interlude reads pretty badly.

This is another good point. We're talking about the man who changed her diapers. Seeing her without clothes on shouldn't really perturb him in any meaningful way.

Honestly there isn't much I can point to as good in this update.

Only reason I read it was because I misread that in the beginning.

Not really liking that last scene in Copacectic. It was pretty cheesy.

I do like the idea of Copacectic. It seems like most Worm fanfiction seems to follow the concept of giving Taylor a new power and starting from the beginning (as if she wasn't a badass already). Or have her take a different route from the start. Copacectic seems to be the only one that is actually a direct sequel, and one of very few that starts after Taylor has already established herself as a badass.

But yeah, seems like Copacectic isn't going to really get that much better. Hope more post-Worm fanfics pops up eventually though....

Also tried Tyrant, which I am enjoying, and Accelerator, which was pretty cheesy but mildly entertaining.

The great thing about Accelerator is that it knows it is cheesy and runs with it.

Personally, when I'm writing Worm fanfic what interests me is the idea of somebody getting superpowers in the Worm-verse and trying to clean up the city in a way, like in Cenotaph. That 'one vs the world' theme is interesting to me. The situation at the end of Worm wasn't very interesting to me; humanity's been shit all over, everyone still alive is six different kinds of fucked up, and Taylor's already been a physical god so where can she go from there?

So even though I'm writing a fic where Taylor gets a different powerset, it's not because I thought she was underpowered or boring in any way, but because I want to see what somebody as clever and inventive as Taylor could do with another skillset.

Fair enough. I suppose a lot of it could be me still in that post-reading phase (after 3 months even), where you don't want to completely erase all the development that has occurred in canon and start again.

The whole "Taylor gets a different power" reminds me too much of the Familiar of Zero fandom - which works for that anime, cause that's all it's really good for. Give her something ridiculously epic and it's just cheap thrills to watch her curbstomp everyone. I suppose it does depend on how it's written though.

Ryuugi's World in Shades of Grey could be more interesting because so far it seems like the focus could be a lot of interesting character development with her having a power so fucked up she won't want to use it rather than just curbstompingeveryone.

    Tyrant
I'm finding interesting for the character interactions mainly, particularly loving her development with Sophie/Stalker which has potential for interesting scenes in the future.

I still feel there's a lot of potential to be had within different parts of the canon. Walkabouts is about the smut, but is one example of an interesting point of divergence. Like, say, what if Taylor stayed in the Undersiders instead of becoming a Ward? Or the entire end of the world fiasco didn't happen and the conflict remained Undersiders vs Protectorate/PRT/rival gangs?

There's also a lot of other characters that we got glimpses of in interludes that could be interesting to read about too. Doesn't need to be purely Taylor centric.

I agree completely, there are some people exploring other options, but for the most part all of these stories appear to be either crossovers or Taylor getting a different power. Which is fine, but I feel as if there's so much more that people could do with the setting.

I've been seriously wanting to write this. Say, if they'd managed to kill Jack before he escaped Brockton Bay and there was no pressing need to save the world.

How far could the world be smashed down by the Endbringers in the 15 years before Sion finally loses it?

How long could Taylor lead the Undersiders and fight the PRT before becoming completely irredeemable? The conflict with Alexandria could have been far bloodier than it was.

I have no confidence in my ability to write anything, but hell, if nobody else does, I might end up trying.

One good story I've found that isn't just Taylor getting new powers is Succession. It's a pretty enjoyable fic about after the end of the world that's focused on Glory Girl.

One thing I'm kind of sick of reading is every time Taylor joins the wards, she sees Sophia, says that she is a bully and then the PRT kicks Sophia out.

It's so fucking boring. They just get rid of the drama instantly.

I'd love to see a story where Taylor joins the wards, tells people that Sophia is a bully but everyone just says, "Why should we believe you? You are the FNG." And then the story could just go on more interesting instead of having all conflict resolved within the chapter.

Oh yeah, and here's a story where Taylor is a Thinker. It isn't amazing, and I'd honestly put it at 'almost recommended,' but it updates quickly.
