Minato was probably asking himself how the fuck Gai was able to procreate when he laid his eyes on Lee.

 

It's pretty cool that Gai can reach Rikudou Sennin-like levels of power with the Eighth Gate, at least if Madara's thoughts are anything to go by. But he's probably going to die in vain, since there's no way he'll be the one to defeat Madara once and for all. I also like how Madara knows about the 'red steam.' Presumably someone in the past followed a similar path to Gai and Lee. This isn't the first time that I've wished Kishi would make a prequel series set in the feuding clans era in the wake of the Rikudou Sennin's death, showing the origins of the various jutsu, kekkei genkai, clans, etc.

 

Is Kabuto implanting Hashirama's cells in Sasuke? Why would he mention them otherwise?

And I just found something funny... Minato is master of ventriloquism, apparently... otherwise I don't see how he was able to speak with kunai in his mouth.

 

Sharingan + Senju DNA = Rinnegan... Fuck, I hope not.

 

I bet it's a reasonable power-up for Sasuke in Kishi's mind. After all, he is planning to give Naruto a pseudo-juubi.

 

The worst part about all of this is that after finishing the most recent naruto fighting game, the writers for that made a better ending to the war with what they already knew. The five kages manage to push back the real madara to the point of needing to retreat with Kabuto, and Naruto manages to beat back Obito controlling 7 of the tailed beasts. You even get the nice epic moment at the end where the kyubi and him work together in this big motivational moment. None of the main villains are gone but the alliance is still strong, causing the various villages to start actively working together and trying to build a lasting peace for the future while still keeping an eye out for Obito and Madara. All in all, I think I prefer that ending than the last 50 or so chapters that we have gotten here.

 

If Sasuke gets the rinnegan I'm going to rage, and scream. But I will still follow the manga to the end, because I have followed this manga for to long to quit reading it now.

 

Well we find out how Minato managed to pull senjutsu out of his ass and he told Guy not to touch Madara's big black balls. I also called this just before the war started. Sasuke will get Rinnegan and Naruto will become jubi. I gotta say I'm disgusted that all these people are just giving up their evil ways. Next thing you know in the epilogue they will all be happily included in the leaf village.

 

Just read this latest chapter after a year or so of not reading.. and are we still fighting the same goddamn war. Fuck Kishimoto, hurry it up a bit.

 

Yeah, Kabuto is going to be interesting, considering that he is directly and personally responsible for countless thousands of deaths.

Atleast with Obito, we know he is going to pull a Nagato and die to try and redeem himself. Would not surprise me if he even ends up using Rinne Tensei to bring back Gai after Gai dies from the 8th gate.

Kabuto however is not near death like Obito, and its quite plausible that he will survive this war. It will be somewhat interesting if Kishi really will just let Kabuto go to some orphanage and completely ignore everything he is responsible for. No justice for the hundreds sacrificed for the Edo tensei (many probably civilians), nor for those killed by said Edo Tensei.

Heck, Madara would not even BE here if not for Kabuto, making him indirectly responsible for everyone killed by Madara too. Those entire villages wiped out by Juubis super-bijuudamas in the early stages? Those are on Kabuto too. Would be ironic if the orphanage Kabuto was from happened to be in that one village we saw Madara blow up.

 

What's really annoying about the time it's taken is that I think it's still only the second day or something.

 

You obviously don't read Fairy Tail. This is an acceptable level of bad guy redemption. Even if it wasn't, the latter half of this chapter basically makes up for the entirety of Shippuden.

 

How does it make up?

 

Gai and Lee own, and next week we're actually getting the 8th gate, that's how.

I like Fairy Tail. I loved the series, and it's still high on my list of things to read. But Naruto and Fairy Tail were introduced as entirely different genres--Naruto was a fighting shonen with an hint of both dark themes (Haku's death, Gaara's treatment), and hope (Naruto's speech after Haku's death, Gaara taking steps along Naruto's path); while Fairy Tail was--and still is--a light-hearted manga all about friendship, fights, and unnecessary fanservice, with the characters not killing their enemies ever (intentionally, at least).

In Fairy Tail, it makes sense that this or that character gets redeemed and forgiven--it's light-hearted, about forgiveness, and for the most part those who are forgiven haven't done much truly heinous. Those who are portrayed as having killed are never forgiven. Death is a very big thing in this world. Enemies are usually just beaten to a pulp, and that's the end of it. Some have a change of heart, others are sent to jail, others still just disappear.

In Naruto however, the darker themes mean that people are killed, and it's expected that this is normal as a course of your duties. When innocents are killed outside of missions, or unnecessarily, it is not a good thing and is portrayed as such. And yet, after the experiments, genocides, mass murders and devastation, all that being forgiven just because of some Freudian excuse and feeling bad?

No. That's not Fairy Tail, 'Walk them back to the path of good, as long as they aren't too far gone' forgiveness. This is 'famous celebrity gets sentenced to jail, but gets released early because she felt bad' forgiveness. There's a fucking difference.

Don't compare Naruto and Fairy Tail again.

And I had done such a good job of repressing every piece of information the manga had on Kabuto after the time skip that I had forgotten his existence. Huh.

So yeah, Gai is about to do something cool alongside Lee, so, yay for something good?

Edit: Yeah, can't compare Fairy Tail and Naruto. Fairy Tail might as well have "Friendship is Magic" in its title, because it is that kind of show. And it is still less contrived than Naruto has been in most cases, which is all kinds of sad.

Still, Gai opening 8 gates. I really, really hope this doesn't grant him mokuton/sharingan/rinnegan/sages body or some bullshit like that.

 

...Why would you even think that? It's just gonna be more of the same but amped up.

 

My biggest problem with Fairy tail is that Fire never burns. Like at all, its basically them charging up and hitting you really hard and god that's fucking anyone.
