Back in season 2 and 3, the producers said they were making a point of makign the Walkers get thinner and slower, and when you compare them to season 1 Walkers you really see they are.

But its been a long time now, the Walkers should be waffer thin, cloths rotting off them and hardly able to move.

That was such a fucking gorgeous episode. I've always had a soft spot for Beth, and Daryl doing character development-y stuff is always more fun than Daryl doin' walker killin' stuff, but goddamn that scene where they explode at each other, just fucking explode with all that resentment over shit and their opposite natures, was maybe my favourite sequence of this back half so far. And what followed was beautiful as shit, man.

Just, like. Lemme talk about the long con of Beth for a moment. Here we have a girl whose first four episodes back in Season 2 she's credited in the also starring batch along with Maggie and Hershel and Carol, and has maybe two lines. Then the back half of season two hits and she gets the suicide storyline, and it's great, it establishes a plateau for a character to rise up on, and despite everyone being surprised she made it to Season 3, she totally did and stuck around as a positive light kind of character, the heart and shit. That she survived Season 3 surprised waaaaaaay more people, and now here in S4 she's got this regular role and just dominates as a character who's got the positivity and hope aspect mixed with the broken teenage angst part, and it's just... She's the surprise character, the one that sneaks up on you as a favourite, and it's just good organic development. GG Bethany, GG.

Walker Kill Of The Week to Beth, what with the repeating face smash with that bottle followed by the stabby stab. Chick's come so far. Please survive the season. I wanna see Emily Kinney's name in the opening credits next year.

Yeah, though it just makes it all the more sadder that they killed of T-Dog.

Is it me or was Beth kind of trying to get it on with Daryl?

This episode and the one before it just really pulled together. A nice balance of action and psychological development going on and several poignant moments.

I also just loved all the symbolism in this episode, like Bethany picks out this pretty yellow cardigan and then its splattered with blood right after. The only thing I'm afraid of is that whenever they give certain characters awesome moments, they kill them in the next few episodes (Hershel for example).

I don't usually watch the Talking Dead filler that comes after but this one was actually pretty good and funny. Emily reminded me of what a grown up, more stable Luna Lovegood would be like. And Norman Reedus being all shy and stuff was cute.

The scene with Beth cleaning the glasses but not being able to drink the schnapps was great. She was definitely on the edge, until Darrell finally reached out to her. I didn't read their interactions as romantic in any way though. More brother-sister vibe--and I really hope it stays that way, because the age difference would make any kind of relationship really skeevy.

I wasn't really on the "Daryl and Beth may fuck one day" train, but goddamn, if they'd kept playing house like that, frick fracking would've ensued. And I would've been okay with that.

Another awesome episode. The splitting up narrative does get a bit "oh but next week is the week they reunite with someone right?" at times, but I think come rewatching days, it's gonna be even smoother. Concentrated character development and bonding, all throughout. This week we got a lot more Bob and Sasha, and I like Bob and Sasha and wanted more of them, so yeah, we got 'em! And Maggie being awesome goes without saying, that chick is the supreme badass queen literally drenched in the blood of her enemies, and I have high hopes she makes it to the end of the season alive. Walker Kill Of The Week goes to that street sign, but Daryl's morgue turnaround deserves mention too, goddamn, son.

Twenty bucks on Beth being taken by Gabriel - feels like his TV counterpart would be the kind of guy to take care of corpses in the funeral home - and she's just fine. Daryl with Joe and the gang - aka everyone's favourite bandits intro'd two eps earlier - won't end well. No sign of Hunters yet, but I wouldn't be shocked if we get a glimpse of them nabbing some of Joe's gang while Daryl's travelling with before making their big entrance on an actual main character.

... Is it next week yet.

So I don't follow the comics and Beth being kidnapped made me want to kill the writers. It was like Daryl and Beth had a moment that made me feel less awkward about their ship (and maybe I shipped them a little when Beth said "Oh") and then of course WD totally kills the moment.

At least with Maggie, Bob, and Sasha things ended on an almost upbeat note (yes looming "heart of darkness" coming up but at the moment it was like "Go Team!").

Poor Beth... the fatc she dropped her bag and the car speed off, seems like she is of to rapetown.

Funny to think that if the Govenor had seen one of those signs he might of gone to Terminus not the prison. Or if he had waited maybe 1-2 more weeks the prison might of relocated there.

Don't hate her, I mean I hated her for about five seconds before realizing how fucked up her life is.

But damn this episode killed me. Like five moments where I was just tears.

Gah, such a poignant episode. I agree with Lyrium. You can't really hate Lizzy, she's a PTSD screwed up kid living in this zombie world. It's not surprising that she went way off the rails when trying to cope with everything.

And the reconciliation between Carol and Tyreese? Well done.

    edit:
Just watched The Talking Dead In memoriam segment- almost lost it. :c

So that was nice and fucked up. Suuuuper fucked up. Loved it. What's not to love.

I really enjoyed watching Lizzie's journey through the season. I actually held out a little hope she wouldn't go full psycho and maybe one of the other kids - like Luke or Molly - would be the ones to go all comic!Billy on Mika, and Lizzie would stick around as a slightly disturbed chick who's growing into normalcy a bit as she gets older. Would've loved to see some weird parallel scenes with her and Carl, too. She was a compelling damn character because of the crazy mixed with usual teenage back-and-forth mindset.

But as soon as she tried to smother Judith back in Ep 10, I knew this was coming. And goddamn if it wasn't dark as fuck to see her break like that, and especially on Mika. Mika was a good kid, so of course building her up a bit more before getting Lizzie to knife her was gonna happen, but still, that was a death that hurt. Lizzie's too, especially from the perspective of Carol, who was already torn up by killing Karen and David but at least trying to be cavalier about it, trying to justify how much it had to be done. And Lizzie had to be killed too, because Carol didn't see her psycho side coming, just saw a weak girl who could become strong, like Carol herself. Shit, son. Just. Shit. Poor Carol.

And poor Ty, too, dude's having a bad run of it. That anger coming off of him when Carol confessed was palpable as dicks, and honestly, if he hadn't been saved by Carol and he hadn't been there for Lizzie and Mika's deaths, I think he would've killed her. But he did need her, and he did need to let go of his anger (Anger makes you stupid, remember!). It just... sucks, for the guy.

In short, everything rocked. Walker Kill Of The Week's gotta go to Mika, shooting at that burnt walker (Dude, those burnt walkers. Way to go, Daryl and Beth.) on the ground by the barbwire during the shootout. Just visually, it was a cool shot of the walker's burnt face getting ripped off by the bullet. Go Mika. Too good for this world.

So what's next? Well we got two eps left, and I'm going to predict - and my predictions are always wrong! - that they'll all reunite in the end, and Terminus won't be a trap but it will just be a pitstop of sorts for the hiatus. The big death is a three-way tie in my head for being either Carol, Tyreese or Glenn. I feel Carol would be the most logical from a "she's had a big story this year and might as well end on a dark bang" kinda way, Glenn in a "a lot's riding narratively on a big reunion like Glenn and Maggie's so fucking that up would be lovely" and Ty in a "he's at peace with himself after Karen and it would be poetic if he got into a position that he had to be mercy-killed by Carol, or vice versa" way.

What do all y'all predict for the big death? Will they reunite? Anyone think we'll get our first season-ending cliffhanger? I surely fucking hope not. The wait would be killer.

Oh, and next week? RICK RETURNS BABY. ALL HAIL.

ALSO: The series's little girl kill count is now at... 6 (Little girl zombie in pilot, Sophia, Penny, Meghan, Mika and Lizzie). And people say they kill off black guys too much. Jeeeeeeeeezus.

I hated Lizzie for awhile but that was mainky because the actress just looks unlikeable but I understood where she was coming from, a child who just can't make sense of whats around her and falling back on something she finds comforting but damn I did not expect her offing Mika, that was brutal and you know that she was terrified because she knew how messed up her sister was but never really thought it might come to that. Her last moments must have been tragically brutal for her.

Big kill of the season is going to be either Glenn or Michonne(she's finally found her peace and I can see them doing that) or maybe Maggie but I don't think its going to be any of the new guys.

Another sexy episode, but goddamn if I'm now worried for my sanity over the course of the next seven or so months if the finale ends in a cliffhanger and shit. I mean shit, Glenn and his group walk into Terminus and oh yeah no way that's gonna work out well, but there's also Joe's group gunning after Rick... And combined with reunions such as Rick and Daryl, Grimes's and Judith, Rick and Carol, Ty and Sasha, Maggie and Beth, Daryl and Beth... A lot of moving pieces to slide into place next week. Yay? Probably yay. Probably pain. Yeah, that too.

But as for this week, Walker Kill Of The Week to... hell, six-way tie. Because Maggie, Bob, Sasha, Abraham, Eugene and Rosita's rescue shootout for Glenn and Tara was majestic as fuck, especially with how it was shot and shit. And as d'aww as the reunion between Glenn and Maggie was, my favourite moment of the ep was definitely Glenn vouching for Tara and basically bringing her into the family and absolving her of any blame for the prison incident. I like Tara a lot and her friendship with Glenn in their three eps has been amazing, so I'm glad she's sticking around.

Promo for next week highlighted Rick, Carl, Michonne and Daryl. No shots of anyone at Terminus or Carol and Tyreese. While we might see the Terminus group a bit, I'm now starting to doubt any of them are going to bite it, even despite the trap-y cannibal-y vibe goin' on. So down to Carol or Tyreese, then, who collide with Rick's group maybe at the same time as Joe and Daryl's. Explosion. Blood. PAIIIIINNNNNN.

(But still, Glenn or Maggie death prediction is still on the table too, because they've got their happy ending an episode early, and c'mon. The show is not that kind.)
