"Green and blue are essentially the same word in Japanese." Uh, no. And furthermore the blue in the name is a direct reference to Gai's 7th gate release, which happens to be his signature move. Konoha's Beautiful Blue (Azure) Beast. Look it up.

In regards to my use of the word "cripple". It's perfectly suitable. Their bodies don't function as they should, and in a permanently debilitating way (at least when it comes to using ninjutsu and genjutsu). Crippled.

 

The section of his title that refers to color is the word "Aoi," which can refer to both blue and green. Additionally, he always wears the same green tracksuit as Lee, so it's more than reasonable to assume that his title refers to that and not the 7th gate. Or, much more likely, it refers to both.

E: Though to be fair, before looking it up in more detail, I actually did think Aoi referred explicitly to blue (since Midori exists.) It's actually pretty clever of Kishimoto to do this.
E2: Also, there are words to refer to Azure, and they are definitely not Aoi.

 

No one uses Ao for green anymore. When i did Japanese 3 years ago that's what I was taught. But yeah, your idea that Kishi would use an obsolete homonym does seem like something he would do.

 

The idea of Lee having a physical deformity in him that stops him from using ninjutsu or genjutsu is fanonical. It's a misunderstanding born from Kishimoto's usage of the term 'cripple' to describe him. What is being specifically referred to is his 'talent.' His talent is crippled. He's perfectly capable of doing ninjutsu and genjutsu. He just really, really sucks at it. Gai referring to himself in the same manner, even though we've seen him use ninjutsu and summoning techniques, is proof enough of this.

 

So Gai beats up Madara who is still standing after getting a direct hit from the Elephant technique. Atleast the others did something rather than just stand around and watch.

On another unrelated note. Naruto is back. I think he is now a Juubi Jinchuriki after Obito grabbed the 1 tail and 8 Tail pieces. Those were the only ones Naruto had not encountered.

 

This is the first chapter in a long time that I've actually enjoyed reading. It was nice.

Or something along those lines. In the end, he's spending his life to knock down the Raid Boss' HP bar within reach of the rest of the party. A noble sacrifice.

 

8th gate Guy confirmed for being on or above Hashirama's level.

 

I think 8th gate Guy is more powerful than 8th gate Daddy Guy. However I don't think this is going to slow down Madara much.

 

Guy has more base skill for that power to amplify.

 

Madara never said he was above Hashirama, did he? Just said he hadn't been so excited since Hashi . . . but he's said that like three times now, in the last arc.

 

Didn't he only say that when he was actually fighting Hashi? The rest of the time he's comparing people unfavorably to him.

 

It's just getting old, all these comparisons. There are other ways to show scale. The chapter would have been fine (read: much better) without another reference to Hashirama as some kind of precedent.

 

I know this won't happen, but I was just thinking that the smartest thing to happen now that Naruto has revived. Is for Obito to have Sakura or Naruto crush the other rinnegan. Of course I still expect Madara to get a hold of it and for the final showdown of Jubi Madara Vs Jubi Naruto.

 

And lets not forget Sauske probably being revived with a rinnegan

 

Obito crushing the Rinnegan would just prompt Madara to rip out one of Sasuke's or Kakashi's eyes. I think Obito would prefer to keep the focus on himself.

Madara's using Yin-Yang Jutsu to screw their regen.

 

As knight504 said, when you become a jinchuuriki of Juubi, you can use somekind of Yin-Yang technique that actually erases ninjutsu (such as Edo Tensei, or any other form of ninjutsu attack) from existence.

Kishi likely came up with it in order to make the edo!Hokages vulnerable/defeatable, so that Obito/Madara would not need start sealing things mid-battle. And also to give Gai the justification to use the 8th gate and to stress the importance Sage Mode/Senjutsu users.

Madara uses the same technique, which is why when he sliced off edo!Minatos other arm, that arm was also gone for good.

This is also the reason why only taijutsu (physical attacks) and senjutsu (attacks imbued with Natural Energy) work on Juubi-jins. Anything else is just cancelled/erased by the same Yin-Yang technique.

This is why Gai is the only one attacking Madara in the most recent chapters. Kakashi and Gaara can do nothing to Madara, since they cannot use NE-based techniques such as Sage Mode, nor do they possess sufficient physical strength to harm Madara.

Its also why edo!Minato tried to use SM against Madara, despite claiming to suck at it (which was a stupid asspull since he did not turn into partial toad, which he should have if he sucks at SM).

So basically, the only ones with any chance against Juubi!Madara right now are:

• Gai (He is using 8th gate and attacking physically).
• Lee (He can use taijutsu to attack physically and go up to the 6th gate, but 6th gate is too weak to do anything if tries to fight alone).
• Juugo (His berserk forms use Natural Energy).
• Naruto (He can use perfect Sage Mode).
• Kabuto (He can use perfect Sage Mode).
• Tsunade (She has extreme physical strength, but she is too slow to attack alone).
• Raikage (He is a physical fighter, though that lightning shroud of his is ninjutsu and would presumably be nullified, slowing him down).
• Orochimaru (He might have stolen the knowledge on how to use Sage Mode from Kabuto earlier).

The two toad sages could also fight using SM, but Kishi seems to have totally forgotten about them. Though Minato is the only one who could summon them, and he cannot perform the summoning seals right now. There is also the SM using snake who taught Kabuto, but we saw him in just one flashback panel so no way is he going to appear either.
