Well even if Baam doesnt use it, he now appears to have a literal Deus Ex Machina on his shoulders anyway.

If the Koon of now is still the Koon we know from past arcs, he will have done this. Aside from needing to remove the hostage situation, I think he legit wants to get rid of Hwa Ryun period. He clearly doesn't want her joining the entourage, and for good reason. She helped kidnap his brother away into FUG, and remains an inherent threat to Baam's continued freedom as long as she's around. Best way to protect Baam is to off her when he isn't looking and let Reflejo take the blame for it.

But, unfortunately, I doubt it. Hwa Ryun is too convenient a plot wrench for SIU to cast aside. It's the same reason we'll forever be stuck with Parakewl.

I'm actually surprised this is a thing. I assumed, since every Trinity Seven presumably has a master of each of the seven major Themas, the endgame for any Magic King was to basically subsume the power of their Trinity Seven, one way or the other, and gain command of all seven Themas.

The revelation that three is supposed to be the limit is actually quite shocking, at least to me. Apparently most Magic Kings gain control of three and then immediately lose their shit and start sinking continents and blowing up mountains.

I do like that Trinity Seven openly embraces wizard madness, though. There's no sugarcoating it whatsoever. They flat-out tell you that the goal of any mage who completes the studies into their Thema is dimensional destruction of one brand or another. Magic Kings don't seem to be feared because they eventually destroy the world if left to their own devices, because that apparently applies to literally everyone who can use magic. They seem to be feared because their magic cannot be stopped by other magic. Mages associations, libraries, and schools can keep each other in check by using magic to stop magic, but Magic King magic seems perfectly capable of devouring the world, other magics, and even other mages with no issues whatsoever.

They're feared because there exists absolutely no check that can balance them whatsoever, except possibly another Magic King. Though even that seems to be apparently an unnatural phenomenon, because the only other true Magic King we've seen in the series thus far is this guy, and he's basically Arata from another dimension.

What I'd like to know is, is every Magic King always the same person? Because so far, they've all looked basically identical, and I suspect that's not a coincidence. Basically, do all Magic Kings look the same because the Magic King always has the same appearance, or do all Magic Kings look the same because there's only ever the one person who becomes it?

There is a fair bit of sameface in this series anyway.

Also, bitch-ass harem MC's around the manga world take notes. Arata just showed all of you how to handle your confession moment like a boss.

    Tower of God.

Oh hey, there's that sixth room I just got done griping about. A little bummed that Koon went soft in handling the hostage dealie, but whatever. It was only a pipe dream to begin with.

Androssi, on the other hand, probably isn't doing this the smartest way she could. She was on the right track in teleporting Varagarv away, but she ought to have just taken him a long horizontal distance and ditched him rather than risking her life with this daredevil stunt. Too much ego forcing her to go for the kill, I suppose.

There's sameface and there's making four different things look completely identical. The Magic King forms ARE identical, and the shot of the guy when he was young looks exactly like Arata does now.

It doesn't just seem as though every Magic King form looks the same. It seems as though the true Magic Kings ALSO all look completely identical, at least so far as we've seen. I can't believe that that's a coincidence.

I'm getting consistently more annoyed with how slowly The Gamer is progressing. I thought it was going to pick up the pace when the teacher learned about his healing, but I guess not. At this rate I figure I'll give it a few more chapters before I just let it build up a buffer.

I dunno, it's picking up the pace right now, isn't it? Shit's starting to happen offscreen. I don't think it will be more than a chapter or two before it breaks into his daily life. Something's about to go down, I can feel it.

Meh, I wouldn't get my hopes up.

In other news, new Meguru. Still the best realistic martial arts manga since Holyland finished.

EDIT: Also, why do people even like Kurogane? I recently found Attaque which is way short but far better as a fencing mang(hw)a.

No Tower of God this week. SIU warned of the possibility of no chapter, but also said that he would let people know in advance if there wouldn't be one and then didn't. Oh well.

    More Kingdom.

That was probably the only logical way to resolve this situation.

Same here. This was the only way this could realistically end as a Qin victory.

What's more interesting is how Riboku didn't expect this at all. Being a transcendent tactical genius, he should've figured out the King wouldn't risk himself just to die without trying everything he can to get allies. The presence of Sei should've been a tremendous red flag - compare, for example, Ouki, who was in a similar situation and understood what he was getting into - though he did die anyway. But Riboku here was caught completely off guard.

Goes to show, Ouki >>>>>> (too many >'s) ... Everybody Else.

Also, new Flow chapter. Didn't expect that to be Harin's reason, Gods really are jerks in this manhwa...

I don't think it's so much of an expected or not expected. His course of action would've been the same either way. The Qin king is in the city, and he would try to capture it no matter what.

Yeah but he could've set up safeguards, or committed more force - dunno, I'm not a tactical genius like Riboku is purported to be, but it's the getting caught with his pants down that irritates me.

New Shokugeki no Souma is up. This should be a good match-up. Doesn't leave much he can do to top it if he wins though.

He's probably going to lose to Alice and then have to beat the yakuza Elite Ten guy in a shokugeki to deal with whatever consequences result. Like you said, it renders the rest of the arc entirely anticlimactic if he just beats Alice in the first match.

Though, he really needs to win. Souma fails/loses way too damn often in this series, and it's grating.

Baam's The Reason You Suck Speech about gods was pretty awesome, too.

    Also, new Kingdom.

It was. Baam is getting pretty good at the 'you're a worthless piece of shit and here's why' routine.

Also, damn Shin. Dem balls of reinforced steel. Now, win. Win like a boss.

Kingdom: I read ahead to here but I really didn't expect the translations to catch up so quickly. Now being able to understand it, I love this siege.

The Siege of the National Gate was a bit sprawling. Not difficult to keep track of, per se, but just a bit much. This smaller scale stuff is more intense. Also, I guess, because we're back to Shin being the big damn hero, rather than the older generals.

Say: can anyone give me a site which show the release dates for mangas? I'm currently curious about HOTD chapter 31....
