I feel like an idiot for asking, but where was this? I just watched the epi and didn't see anything about Harley Quinn?

 

Waller is like the unholiest mix of politician, political survivor, amoral black ops person and patriot. The shit she's gotten up to and pulled off, like... at one point she faked her death, set into motion a civil war between various members of the DC-Only American Alphabet Soup Agencies that resulted in her own organization annexxing them all. She's held multi-dimensional travels hostage or prisoner while she experimented on them. She knows who Batman is. She's assembled entire teams (superheroic or otherwise) for the sole purpose of responding to the shit superheroes don't. Ran US and UN black-ops squads alike.

Seriously, this is kindergarden crap to the woman who has pretty much given the middle-finger to every sort of authority figure standing in her way of protecting the United States (and sometimes humanity in general) from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

 

Huh.

Gotta ask, is she a CIA/Paramilitary spook in the comics? I didn't have a problem with her being amoral, rather, just the "Big bad govt. is coming to get you" motif. (Then again, with everything in the news the last few months, maybe it's a case of art imitating life).

Also have to wonder if she had anything to do with Fyers and/or Ivo. Just seems too convenient that "Death Stroke" pops back up, as if they had background to his Australian SAS days.

EDIT: Just read Hashasheen's post. Okay, so the story line is following canon pretty close here. I'll put aside my dislike of that particular trope...or maybe just reserve it for the DC 'verse that created it.

Sounds like she's an evil version of Nick Fury in S.H.I.E.L.D.

 

When they introduce the 'Suicide Squad', at the end of the scene where you hear the insane woman's voice? That's Harley.

Though I wouldn't have known without knowing about it beforehand :/

The Huntress returned and it...was actually pretty good. It wasn't the best episode of the season - far from it! - but it was pretty good. The Arrow writers really have improved since season one, and it really showed here.

Here's the preview for next week's episode, "Deathstroke." It's going to be fucking rad, but man

I love the whole "What are you gonna do, kill me?" Right before he goes flying back with three arrows in his chest. Ollie is through fucking around .

 

Just for the record, silly is not a bad thing.

 

No one commented on Lance calling the Arrow with Ollie standing right there? Hilarious. Seriously, how does he not know yet...?

 

I'm pretty sure he knows. I mean come ON, Sara=Canary who always shows up with Arrow. Who is Arrow? Oliver looks about as tall, and Lance could clearly see the Arrow's jaw at least 3 times, and the mask does nothing what so ever for someone who's looked at Oliver's face.

 

Well, if a pair of glasses can hide Superman's identity, then a mask should take care of Olliver's.

 

A mask and a voice modulator, never got how no one picked up on the voice either with Superman.

 

It was a great moment, but just one of several in that episode.

Also, I basically don't care if Detective Lance knows about Ollie, because it really just...doesn't matter. He probably does know, but if he doesn't, whatever, their relationship is great as-is.

 

Soo Merlyn is going to team up with Ollie to take down Slade after he learns that Thea was taken?

Also could the police chief dude become the captain of the suicide squad? I don't know much about it but he seems to fit or they could take on Huntress. Its feeling more and more like they're gearing up for a spin off doesn't it.

 

I don't really see a spin off with the Suicide Squad working. It'd have a very episodic feel to it. The way it is now, with occasional mentions in Arrow, is perfect for showing their progression and stuff. If they had to come up with a per week thing it'd probably suck hard.

I doubt Lance will go for something like the Suicide Squad, he doesn't seem like the 'pragmatic' type. I'd imagine his reaction being akin to Diggle's. Huntress seems to have kickstarted a redemption arc, so I dunno how she'd react, though I imagine Waller might at least consider her.

 

I didn't mean Quentin. The cop who went after the Huntress by himself, he seems to be sowing seeds for the cops finally going after the Vigilante's seriously.

 

Oh. Yeah, actually, that could be somewhat interesting to see. Especially if he gets the rap for killing Bertinelli.

 

^This is what I was thinking.
If there was ever a reason for bringing back Merlyn this would be it. Im kinda picturing some last minute thing were Ollie is getting beaten by Slade while trying to rescue Thea and right before Slade can finish him off Merlyn steps in to hold him off while Oliver goes for Thea. He's one of the few variables that Slade couldn't have possibly accounted for and despite being clownshit crazy he is damned skilled.

A thought occurs, in the preview where Slade gets shot by the arrows although I can't tell personally can anyone see what color they are? That would be a bitching bit of foreshadowing if those were black arrows hitting his chest.
