Ashura's great big Kamen Rider-esque Chakra Construct is basically...an Ashura/Asura. They're derived from the Hindu Quasi-Deities, (Which probably descend from the Zoroastrian Ahuras) that also crept over into Buddhism, which have 3 Faces and 6 Six Arms. Hell, the leader of their opposites, the Deva, is called Indra.

A tad bit of ironic (Is that the right word, here?) naming, considering Asuras are usually malicious and demon-like and Deva are more benevolent and angel-like.

 

Im gathering it's probably gonna be Sasuke as the other brother...

Hmm, maybe previous reincarnations were Izuna and Madara?

Also, Naruto meets SOSP, calls him stupid and an alien.... sounds bout right.

 

You forgot the most inportant character: The Sages mother. The strongest of them all. The one who'd eaten the fruit of chakra directly and on purpose.

Which main character is still left? That's right. Sakura!

Naruto'll end when Madara and Naruto are just build up for the big fight, Sakura'll bitchslap them both. Then tell them to make up and give her grand-grand kids already.

 

Kinda wish/hoping the Sage was the one to kill his mother. She seems like she was everything Madara is aspiring to be, from what we've seen of her.

The Sage's mother is likely the Shinigami.

My God. Stand by for the Ashura's spirit waking up and taking over/training Naruto stories. I disliked most of that history. Why can't they just be their own people? Does the genius/loser theme really need to have been repeated every generation? Also there's no way Hashirama was a drop out.

 

Why not? Naruto was, and he's positively beastly now. Kishimoto has an interesting idea of how talent works, where being talented at something means you get it intuitively without doing any work. If you have any struggles in learning something, or it takes you some time to come to mastery, then you're a dropout. Or something, it makes no fucking sense.

 

Look at all these shitters. How quickly you forget THE GLORY OF THE RED BEAST.

They may have been the last reincarnations, but if it's passed down from father to son, then it would explain why Naruto and Minato share the same super form, and why Minato was able to just 'figure it out' on his own.

 

The sage of the six paths resembles the shinigami a little, but I don't think his mother is related to it - she's more likely the rabbit goddess that lives on the moon in mythology. Which explains the very distant place the sage says she came from.

 

If she does come from the moon, it makes Tobi's plan to cast a genjutsu on the moon a little bit incestuous considering his ancestry.

From certain perspectives, Kaguya resembles the shinigami a lot. One of my crazier ideas is that since she ate the fruit which was basically raw chakra, she eventually was overwhelmed and turned into that thing. Kinda like how Mangekyou sharingan punishes you for your greed for power by causing blindness, the fruit punished Kaguya for her greed by slowly turning her into a chakra-entity that could not exist in the living world, the shinigami. That would also explain why she was not present when Juubi started wrecking shit up.

Another option for Shinigami is ofcourse the Sages brother. If he somehow accidentally turned into a soul-eating eldritch abomination, then that might explain why he was kept off the family history books.

I can just see it now. A family dinner of the Sages family
Hagoromo: "Ashura, did you remember to invite your uncle?"
Ashura: "No father."
Hagoromo: "Ashura! He is my brother and helped defeat the Juubi! You should honor his sacrifices!"
Ashura: "Yes father, but its uncomfortable having him for dinner ever since he ate my younger sisters soul."
Hagoromo: "I thought we agreed I never had a daughter, only two sons! My brother never ate anyone!"
Ashura: *sigh* "Yes father."

 

About the Asuras being demons thing.

I'm not sure if Kishi did this intentionally, but if so, that was one beautiful troll.

See, even in the purely Indian context, its still not certain if Asuras are demons or Nature Spirits. It was previously considered they were purely Demons. But later on, it was decided that even deities like Varuna, Mitra etc are Asuras without being evil.

In the Indo-Iranian context, i.e. Zoroastrian context, Ahuras are deities that protect asha (truth). In over-simplistic terms, making Ahuras the good guys. Now the word Asha in Sanskrit can also mean hope or desire.

Now apply this to Naruto. Where Naruto in the early days was misunderstood as the demon himself. Then he became the defender of hope for Konoha. Basically the quintessential good guy.

Like I said, if intentional then this was beyond brilliant trolling by Kishi.

Edit: I also forgot to add that Indra, while being a Deva, is still one of the more dubious characters in Indian Mythology. XD

 

The shinigami I think is either the brother or mother. Though I am leaning more towards the mother.

 

What is it with the random horns on people's heads, though?

 

I suppose it makes sense, he said that when one person has too much power they loose control, so Naruto will have the chakra so-to-speak through the bijuu and Sasuke will have the eyes.
