If you reread HBP, I recommend substituting the word 'pants' for 'chest' and imagining that this is what JKR had intended before her editors censored the work.

This falls more into the realm of conjecture-

What effect did drinking unicorn blood have on Voldemort's life? Firenze described the effect as living "a half life, a cursed life, from the moment the blood touches your lips", but was that only whilst Voldemort was surviving on the blood or was it meant to screw him over from then on, no matter how he restored his body or cleansed his spirit?

 

I imagine the effect was probably permanent. Not much of a curse if it wasn't.

 

Perhaps the drinking of the Unicorn blood could have altered his appearance even further when he was 'reborn' in GoF?

 

That could be it. Did we ever get a canon explanation for why Voldemort was snake-like? I think it being the effect of soul-splitting is fanon.

 

It's fanon because it's never stated but makes perfect sense. If Voldemort hadn't been nearly as monstrous when last he'd had a body, his followers should have been surprised when they saw the 'new' him, even doubted his identity. They showed up and made no fuss about it.

I guess my question is actually several; what effect did the unicorn blood have; was it a factor in how Harry's touch could burn Quirrel; did the restoration in the graveyard or the creation of the traveling Volde-baby form purge the taint from the unicorn blood or was it a soul-carried sin; did it help Harry win; or was it a curse with effects Voldemort has already accepted in his prior dehumanizing rituals, like being unable to breed or feel sexual?

 

Horcruxes are supposed to split a soul of a wizard, not to destroy his appearance.

Quirrel actually drank that potion, not Voldemort. At least I think so.

 

Every memory we go into in HBP mentions Voldemort's appearance as changing each time he makes a horcrux: at first, he gets more handsome, but then he seems to pass a tipping point and starts to take on a waxy, pale appearance. A few more horcruxes later and we have snakeman.

 

In HBP during the scene between 'Tom' and Dumbledore when Tom came to apply for DADA professor, Dumbledore said his appearance was much changed and Voldemort said he had "experimented" and "pushed the boundaries of magic" with the physical signs of being less human, including red eyes.I didn't think it was necessarily the horcruxes that did this; I actually thought it was because he was dabbling in some extremely Dark magic.

Aside: In my head!canon I like to think that someone cursed Voldemort's nose off.

 

It's quite long way to go from red eyes and pale complexion to snake face. And that was when Voldemort already had at least four horcruxes. At least I think it was like that. I need to reread the books again.
