fire is right. It happened in the books the same way. It wasn't anything inherent about Dany that protected her, it was the birth of the dragons - the "miracle". Martin has made it clear both in the books and in interviews that Dany and Targaryen's are not immune to fire.

I didn't say she was, I just said that she had good reason to believe that she is immune. And while my memory on the books on that front is a bit fuzzy, and I will take your word for it, in the show at least, Dany has at least one additional scene where her resistance to heat was shown. (the bath scene)

And while, yes, most Targaryens were killed by fire, it is also not unreasonable to believe that some Targaryens have, at least, a greater resistance for fire, seeing they could kinda control dragons.

In the books, there are hints of this kind of thing. She does enjoy particularly hot baths, but it's not because she isn't hurt by the heat. IIRC, she thinks of it as a scouring, purifying kind of pain, so she endures heat others wouldn't.

But the fact that she feels the pain of such heat suggests it's not immunity so much as a nice bit of sadomasochism.

The moment in the show when she's handling the hot eggs without harm, then her servant touches the same eggs and is immediately burnt, is quite clear.

The immunity didn't happen in the book, true.

But I thought it was pretty clear that Benioff and Weiss decided to imply that while Targaryens in general aren't immune to fire and heat, Dany is because she's a 'True Dragon' imbued with magically magical dragon magic. See Viserys for the counter-example.

And if the showrunners are able to make a drastic change like that, Martin probably approved it.

What about in the last book she seemed immune there?

Is the argument that she is not immune to fire or that she is not immune to fire except when it comes from a dragon/ dragon's birth?

    GRRM:
GRRM wasn't explicit that Dany isn't immune to fire. He only mentions that the Targaryens as a whole aren't, and neither was her brother. Yes, he probably meant that she isn't immune to fire, but GRRM is a tricky bastard. Maybe she's only immune in the presence of her dragons or while they are alive, and they'll all die at some point. Or maybe he meant she isn't immune. But he was ambiguous enough that you could argue he meant being a Targaryen doesn't make her immune.

This episode was awesome. When Margery called for the pie I was so relieved, I couldn't take anymore of Joffery being a little shit. His death was just perfect, especially since he died with both parents there. Also the dialogue between Oberyn and Tywin was great. And playing Tywin Lannister's song during credits is perfect.

This video is the only way I can properly express my happiness.

I've been waiting for this Episode for years. I didn't even care all that much for the rest of the episode, but this Wedding made it all worth it. Everyone wants to kill each other while acting polite, we never actually see who/what killed him while little hints are given on possible answers, and Joffrey's face was simply well done. Seriously, I think the make-up people deserve a medal just for that face.

My dream is for Martin to put some throw away line in the later books about how Joffery actually was the child of Robert and Cersai. He was the legitimate heir, just no one believed it because the hair and eyes.

Dany has been burned in the books. In A Dance With Dragons Drogon's breath burns her. From a later Daenarys chapter:

And then in the next Daenarys chapter:

So yes, in the books she can clearly be burned and is not immune to fire.

Non-J notes, since they'll be skipped by everyone.

Well. Good to see Tommen got some screen time.

Dear god the Bran actor is old as hell.

"Do you love him?" *Silence* ...made me wince. (Those two got a bromance, and to suggest any other angsty/yearning ideas is sacrilege.)

Loras has really grown on me. Good to see some personality from him.

Good to see more activity in the North. it's easy to ignore anything between the wall and the Neck (Moat Caitlin) until much later.

I'm sure I'll have more, but solid episode. Although I watched it through a new TV; Did it seem quieter than most episodes to anyone else?
