The other way around! Faeries are particularly resistant to anything that has been 'worked' or man made things in general. That, or they are vulnerable to things that are natural, I forget which of the two was the reason that Blake used that pipe that was all rusted and dirty - something that had been reclaimed by nature and wasn't being used for the purpose it was 'designed' for.

Fairies are vulnerable/avoid crude objects. IIRC It's explained as being part of their nature as creatures of Glamour, something about a positive connection to refinement.

Excellent. The incarceration and the groundhog day shenanigans were well handled. I was worried that the Canadian legal system was terribad and everyone was really incompetent, but it's clear that Duncan had a lot to do with it. I'm liking how useful Evan is, and I'm glad Rose is back! Now Blake does't have to feel around in the dark when it comes to dealing with the Oblivion lesser demon and Others in general. Awwww yeahhhh.

    A couple of questions though.

If Rose is stuck as a Vestige, is this a way to keep her from fading? If so, would that effect Blake's longevity with regard to ageing? Does that even matter, seeing as how he isn't projected to live long enough for something like that to come into play? How is Conquest going to take it, having someone called from his clutches? I think it may be alright, since Blake is paying a pretty grisly price in blood.

Yeah, Pact's world seems to based around a sliding scale of give / take. I'd say that Blake nearly killing himself to bring Rose back would be an equivalent exchange. I guarantee that Conquest, or whoever, will push him on this claim - but that's a formality with anything supernatural. If they think they can exploit your ignorance they will.

More on point, I really dug the way the Hyena went down. That's the kind of smart fighting which makes Wildbow's writing truly enjoyable. I could practically imagine Blake rolling his eyes when the Police showed up. Also: Anyone get the impression that the karma system is in place to guarantee that Blake will constantly be in shit? Classic Wildbow.

Fuck Chronomancers. They're so broken right now. But that probably means they have a huge weakness hidden somewhere. Blake just needs to figure out what it is and exploit that flaw ruthlessly.

Terrible return rates. Apparently, a basic Chronomancer charm is to save up time, so you save the time you don't need and gain an hour here and there.

Rose said you'd need to save an hour to gain a minute. If that kind of rate holds true for the stuff they throw at Blake, multiple enemies could drain them dry.

If Blake ever finds this out I could see him trying to force them into using as much of their magic as possible, so that they're less able to deal with him in the future. Hell, they've already burned through what looks to be their biggest spell in Jacob's Bell as well as the groundhog day loop. I give them decent odds of being left in a very weak position after this, even if they manage to take Blake out of the picture.

Good point. I'd forgotten that tidbit of information.

Aek hit in it one - they're bound to be much weaker than they were at the beginning. I'm betting that the Duchamps / Witch Hunters are Laird's insurance against getting screwed here.

This chapter has made me completely dislike Rose and miss Blake alone fending for himself without dealing with her and I'm also very Happy he chose Evan.

I mean, she comes back finds Blake bleeding to death trying to escape and what does she do instead of helping? Second guessing him every step of the way, arguing with him putting herself first despite the fact that she knows all this was because of her and this line

Really? nah fuck that girl. I really wish she ends up in an antagonistic role, meaning I'll have to read less of her.

She is a complete bitch, I'll give her that one. She's self-centred and arrogant, and I'm still pretty convinced that she's just another Other trying to con him.

You wake from a coma, one you went into trying to save this guy, and you see him using way too much blood/bleeding out on the floor.

You quickly get up to speed and help him in any way you think you can despite the very real possibly of you ceasing to exist if he kicks it. This, and some very serious existential issues you have in no way dealt with, result in you being snarkier and ruder then your typical exposition character.

Hmmm. Blake stops trying to kill her by proxy and her attitude improves immensely. Funny that.

How old is Evan again? Little guy seems as good a choice as any for a familiar. I am a bit confused though on the mechanics. So he can change from bird form back into his regular shape, which is either a boy or a ghost of a boy. I'm think he only has the choice of ghost!Evan, but I'm not really sure.

Its the same as how Laird's familiar goes from pocket watch to gentleman spirit/ghost.

From the gathered pages chapter about debt, the guy said that Blake's tattoo basically showed him how much debt he's in and it seems like right now his completely in it which doesn't make sense because he's done a lot of good recently.

Also am I the only one who shudders every time he uses blood thanks to Dresden?

His tatoos are a sign of where 'he' is at essence-wise. Use blood as a power source you really drain the batteries/open yourself up to a lot more Other influence. One of the other times we saw Blake using blood the birds got matted and mean looking. He had to spend a good deal of normal Blake time to get them back to normal. Now though..

Yeah, Blakes relying a lot on blood to fuel his magic and already we know that somethings setup shop in him. Thinking about it so far there is no respite for Blake anytime soon. He has to deal with the demon, then conquest, then possibly the Imp, the hound and Fell and then after that deal with whatever's inside him not counting a bunch of other things that will take immediate notice of him.

If I make a donation I'm just going to ask for a chapter where bad shit doesn't happen to blake. Interaction with his friends that's natural and not like psychiatrists talking to each other and maybe play some catch with Evan.

With regards to the way Wildbow writes character interactions; I agree with you here and seem to recall you voicing this complaint a while ago. Have you ever left a review in the chapter comments or somewhere telling Wildbow as much? He's pretty responsive when it comes to that kind of feedback.

How do I post on there? I've never seen a comment box at the end of the chapter nor a place where I can comment
    Edit:Never mind figured it out.

Recent chapter was good. I liked Blake calling out Rose on working against him instead of with him but she did have a point. Right now it seems like Blake is riding on a high from his successes and that's making him a little arrogant and that's not something you want when going up against an abstract demon or maybe that's exactly what you need?

I must have missed it but since when was Fell against Blake's mission? I thought he was one of Conquests trusted allies.

Conquest doesn't have allies, it's not in his nature. Fell's family is, as far as I understand it, enslaved to Conquest. He also knows how much of Conquest is a sham show and, while not being able to do anything about it, hopes someone will eventually knock Conquest of his throne freeing him/preventing others from being enslaved.

Blake, through doing these tasks, is empowering Conquest. Making toppling him more and more of a pipe dream and continuing the cycle of enslavement.

Ah, so why hasn't Blake let him in on the plan?

Because Fell is compelled to protect Conquest's interests. He has a little wiggle room where there's some doubt, but if Blake came out and told him that he wanted to take down Conquest and was going to do it tonight, he'd be forced to either stop Blake or inform Conquest.

I always enjoy Fell's comments. I get the feeling that he'd actually get along with Blake if you stripped away all the bad blood, and enslavement thing.

Otherwise I'm looking forward to seeing what the abstract demon can do. It's definitely been the nasty I've been most interested in getting a look at.
