Given the massive number of fics where Harry is raised by everyone from the Malfoys to Batman, this is sorta surprising.

Why didn't Lily ever stand up for Snape with more than just reprimanding words aimed at James and the rest of the gang? That always confused the shit out of me.

Now, don't get me wrong, I abhor any Lily/Snape fic and the pairing in general, and this is more aimed at the whole thing for her supposedly being the best of friends with him. You'd figure, with her being so bloody bright and righteous, she would have at least jinxed or hexed them in return for every bit of trouble they gave to Snape.

And no, I'm not implying he was defenseless, or that he didn't pay them back in equal measure on his own. Just thought to say that in case someone wanted to point it out.

 

If she did that she'd probably get the same reaction from Snape as in his memory. He clearly didn't want her help.

Lily might not have wanted too much to do with Snape after he started buddying with junior Death Munchers. In fact, wasn't there a scene like that in canon? Among Snape's memories in DH perhaps?

A question: we know that both Harry and Voldemort are descended from Peverells and we know that Voldemort is descended from Slytherin. It's easy to jump to a conclusion that therefore Peverells must be descendants of Slytherin, making Harry the Heir after Voldemort dies, but that may not actually be true. Voldemort's ancestry may come from both Slytherin and Peverell lines, but those lines don't necessarily need to be connected. So, are Peverells descended from Slytherin, thereby making Harry a member of the family? The Internet seems divided on that issue. Maybe someone on DLP has some better information? I'm in the middle of writing something where such a connection existing in canon would come in handy, but even if there isn't one, I'll make it up anyway. I'm just curious.
