You can always request obs for that game and find out? =p
Actually I recommend it, with obs, you can see everything and get an idea of how players here think.

 

Can I get a very tentative /in as a newbie? I played one game of mafia waaay back when it just started out on DLP (it was the one where Jon became Warlock Mayor and screwed up town), where I was such a horrible lurker who had no idea of mafia I managed to post approximately 3 times in 5 day phases. I've been reading a bit of B&T and WiFom trying to understand the game.

Whether I'll be in will depend on when this starts. If it's after June 3rd, I'm good. If it's before, I'll have to bow out.

 

In depending on start date. I am away May 2-5.

What is this observer business exactly? What does it entail?

 

observes get access to obs QT and to all other QTs. they know from the start what the roles are, and are watching the game like watching a TV show.
They comment on it on the obs QT and talk things out.
