True. And unlike in the show, she is responsible for the deaths of Rob's bastards, by indirectly advising Joffrey to do something about it, amongst the other things she has done.

So the show seems to be diverging from the books more and more starting this season. Assuming it was run by G.R.R.M. and is canon, that last minute revealed more about the Others than all five books have.

    What exactly did it reveal?
That nude scene can either be titillating, or true to the spirit of the event. Not both.

Unless I'm remembering it wrong, we never knew exactly what the White Walkers did with the children they take. Could have been sacrifices, food, etc. Now we know they convert them into more White Walkers.

Additionally, there's some hierarchy among them with the one who did the converting being higher up. Considering the bony protrusions from his head, perhaps he's some type of naturally born White Walker as opposed to the others being converted humans?

May not be a ton of info, but its still more than the small glimpses of them that we've been given before.

We do? Never mind about my question then, because I didn't see that so it all looked the same to me.

Yeah, the White Walker put his finger under the baby's eye and the same shade of blue as the White Walkers' spread over his eyes. Watched it again myself to make sure I wasn't imagining it.

Maybe, but probably not. Didn't seem ethereal enough.

When Ice Sidhe with crazy magical armour are instead Blue Caveman Zombies, why would the Great Other be ethereal?

Because... because... because... AGGHHH FUCK YOU!! :fire

You make a fair point. That said, there's no way Benioff and Weiss got the go ahead to reveal a potential big bad before Martin has the chance to do so.

More likely to be the King of Winter, the one that King whatever Stark defeated to gain the title and probably the sword they had before Ice. Or the Other that currently is the King of Winter.

The Great Other if it is actually a thing and not a generalization it's more likely to be less physical and more spiritual I think.

So apparently HBO confirmed that the guy at the end of the episode is the Night's King. If this is the same one mentioned in Old Nan's story and not just a name they slapped on this guy then thats pretty big. This hasn't even been mentioned in the books. Here's the wiki page for him.

This suggests that they've just gone full non canon to me though, rather than it being something revealed before the books. Given all the other changes, especially in relation to the Others, there's no real confirmation on show Night's King having anything in common with the one in the books. I mean, in the books the Night's King wasn't even an Other in the first place. Not to mention the whole concept makes very little sense in the context of the show given Others are ugly zombie looking things. Who would want to screw one of their women?

Perhaps he became an Other in a similar fashion to the baby.

And in the context of this episode, his story actually makes sense. We saw a human baby become an Other, but the baby's physical appearance apart from the eyes didn't change. Which indicates to me that the zombie appearance is the result of time passing. Perhaps the youngest Others still look passably human. The Night King's Other Queen could have been freshly turned.

Is it weird that I now hope we'll see a bunch of freshly Other'd sexy ice ladies with creepy blue eyes walking around north of the wall?

The revelation about the Others may be a spoiler, but it may not. Consider this, for most part in the books they are treated more like a force of nature than actual beings which means that as long as they plan to kill everyone anyway it doesn't matter if specific details about them are going to be changed in the TV show. Missing out potential sexy Winter Fae ladies is a little sad, but that was pretty much given after the first scene of the show. ;)

From other changes Tommen definitely needed to be aged up. He is one lucky guy too.

How old is he now? Because the wiki says 12, which is still bad imo(from a political perspective, I don't care)

Everyone suspected that this is what happened to Craster's kids after Gilly called the White Walkers Craster's children. It's just now we have more objective confirmation.

It's interesting that HBO announced him as the Night's King then removed the mention. It could be because it was information that wasn't meant to be released, but it could also be an error and he's meant to be the Great Other (i.e. the counterpart god to R'hllor).

That said, the fact that there were 13 White Walkers in the scene, each of them wearing black, makes you think that maybe these are indeed the first 13 Lord Commanders and the fan theory about the peace with the Others being cemented with marriage is true.

13 Lord Commanders? Don't you mean the 13th Lord Commander (Night King) and his twelve most loyal men?
