    SPOILERS ahead.

    Fantastic film.

Was kind of surprised how positive new york was towards him, was expecting the cops to hate him for Gwens dad dying etc, etc, but dosent seem that bad. Also liked the touch with Gwens father appearing.

I liked how they went into depth with his abandonment issues, that kinda stuff does make you think a lot - and I was suprised that they didnt really go into depth on it in the first film.

Kinda sad they only briefly went into the Harry friendship and how quickly he became evil, but oh well.

Oscorp looks like its going to be the place where every villain begins.

    Stans cameo was awesome.

The death scene was kinda predictable if youve seen the comics/any spoilers.

That kid at the end was fucking awesome. :)

    Solid 9/10

Wait so she did die? Did Peter rebound with MJ yet?

Yep, was surprised too. They kept it the same way as the comics, which I wasnt sure if they would with it being a 12a. No Maryjane introduction though. ;)

I loved how they pulled off Electro. With the song and the chanting. Awesome shit right there.

They did a good job for the second film.

There were quite a few imperfections. Like Peter and Harry knowing each other, from boarding school in childhood?

Peter's burst of obsession in finding out about his dad, the Roosevelt mystery, was very compressed. One montage of posting all of these articles, photos, and newspaper clippings onto his wall... They ought to have spread that out over the film. When he has trouble with his relationship with Gwen and he tears all of that stuff right off the wall, the drama was completely not there.

Gwen's death didn't seem like it was from the snapped neck, more like her cranium being smashed into the floor. :/ They should have just done it by the comics.

The actors were all on their A game. All of them.

I like Andrew Garfield's Peter and Spiderman better than Toby Maguire's. His talkativeness was amazingly well done. His banter was pretty bad in the first film, but his battle dialogue was on point for this one.

Electro was great. Times Square scene and the power grid showdown was intense. Harry was only slightly less developed, but the actor's skill more than made up for it.

But him getting blasted by water being his weakness... Man, that is weak as fuuuuuck. Really?! One hose takes him down?

Emma Stone as Gwen was maybe... five times more interesting than Mary Jane in the original trilogy.

The pacing swerves from feeling so natural, to being suddenly crazy rushed. That's the big flaw. But it feels more exciting, everyone's acting is great, it gets the bustle and liveliness of New York down. I'm liking it better than Raimi's first two films.

It really does feel like the world of Spiderman. The Ravencroft Institute, all of these schemers and using the story of the Parkers. I love how full of evil Oscorp is, it adds this tinge of cyberpunk to the feel of the movie... It's pretty sick.

And I was reminded of playing Spiderman 2: Enter Electro game for Playstation. Great game.

I'm pretty sure that was deliberate. That way Peter just wasn't in time to save her rather than accidentally killing her, presumably to make it less 'brutal'.

It was ok. Garfield and Stone were great, although the relationship angst got a little tedious at times. The action scenes were fun. Loads of laughs. I didn't much care for Max Dillon's/Electro's characterisation, although I thought Foxx was pretty good. DeHaan's Harry Osborn was kinda the same; decent performance but thin character. Basically, it felt more like extended set up for a wider franchise than a worthwhile film in its own right.

It was good but didn't elevate the series status overall for me. It did have plenty of feels digging into Peter's past, like any good comics sequel does when swinging for a trilogy. I knew Gwen went belly up so not shocked but still knowing Stone is gone makes me real sad. Especially considering whatshername from Hunger Games is grabbing all the roles I would have pegged Stone doing a few years ago.

Also I might be in the minority on this but that has to be one of the weaker Stan Lee cameos in a while. Side by side with his amazingly awesome screen time in the first it was even more disappointing.

Anymore if I'm not stunned by the visuals of a superhero movie it doesn't even deserve a grade. So I could wax on and on about the smooth cgi and special effects but I've become so jaded with the myriad of Avenger movies (like 10 now? Jesus) that the slow motion web slinging and Electro's presence was more the norm than a bonus.

That being said, I was surprised by how much I liked Jamie Fox playing a legit bad guy. But I also enjoy the entire idea of electro so he might get an unfair bias there.

In the end I think it's keeping pace with the last series of Spider-Man. The real tell will be how they handle the third movie. Considering how terrible Spider-Man 3 made me feel the Amazing Spider-Man trilogy should prove better if they don't stumble, trip and shatter an ankle before the finish line.

Well, some consider that it already stumbled. It has 56% on Rotten Tomatoes compared to 63% that SM3 had. Though it did surprise me a little because most opinions I read put it along with the last one. Maybe not amazing, but a little better than average.

IMDB has it at a 7.6, so I'm not really sure what's going on with Rotten Tomatoes.

Just got back from seeing it. Greatly enjoyed it. Never read a comic, so my knowledge of the spider man universe is limited to 3 fanfics ("The Shocker: Legit", "Polarity" and its unfinished sequel, "Transistor").

I can only parrot what's been said above. Pretty great acting all around. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the actor playing Harry Osborn was.

Even though I knew it was coming whilst she was tumbling, I was still sad to see Gwen kick the bucket. :/

Just got back from seeing it...I might be in the minority here, but I would put this one easily in my top three superhero films. The other two being Man of Steel and Dark Knight Rises.

I felt that the acting was phenomenal. The relationship drama between Gwen and Peter was just a tad tedious, but it was made a million times easier simply because Emma and Andrew have the chemistry to pull it off. The joy (and utter despair) on their faces was pretty real. So acting was top notch.

Special effects and action scenes were good, bordering on great. However a few of the CGI scenes were just a little too jarring to get that distinction.

The story itself was really well done and I don't think we have to worry too much about the 'villain clutter.'

Honestly...the star of this movie was actually the soundtrack for it. So many times music is just used to the set the scene and mood. I really felt that the music in this film acted almost as internal exposition especially with Electro. The music...interacted with the movie and I loved it.

    Anyways 5/5 for me.

Haha I did state I was in the minority. I'll admit those movies had their flaws and other movies are "better." The reason they are in the top three for me is because of the emotions and personal trials of my own life. Those two resonated with me on a deeper level.

That said, ASM 2 is up there just because it was a darn fun movie to watch.

I agree with everything except this. I don't know... maybe it's just me, but half the time it felt like he honestly turned the Peter Parker character into a d-bag. Not quite as bad as the first film, but I definitely still got d-bag vibes from this one too

    Spoilers ahead ~

I like these newer movies better than the ones ten years ago. Granted I only saw the 2002 one and not the sequels, but I didn't enjoy it.

These two (just saw the first one last night before going to see the sequel today) kept me entertained. There's still loads of issues, but I'd pay to see the 3rd one instead of skipping it.

This Peter Parker doesn't feel smart enough, though. It's not helped by Aunt May saying that she has to work overtime to pay for him to go to University -- he's more than smart enough for a full ride if he'd put minimal effort into getting it, and he would given how much of a toll it's taking on May.

I do like his smartass approach to his fights, however. It's something I've generally associated with Spiderman and it was lacking in the 2002 film. It'd get irritating if all the superheroes were doing it, and it could likely be labelled a character flaw, but it's still something I liked to see in this particular case.

Very glad they went all the way with Gwen's death. I google'd her after watching the first movie, since I'm used to seeing Parker with MJ, and when I read she died I had my fingers crossed they'd do it in the movie. They did. Good for them.

But the romance aspect of it was a pain in the ass to watch sometimes. Too much drama, but I guess they're teenagers.

    /shrug

Not a 5/5 but I'd go see the next one.

This was one of my only issues with the movie. Peter Parker is a -brilliant- character nearly on the level if not on the level of Tony Stark or Reed Richards. It kinda feels like they are taking the movie-batman route though. Action hero as opposed to staying true to the character. Batman has never been accurately portrayed in a movie. It's what I'm most hopeful about in Batman Vs. Superman. You cannot have him be the action hero when Superman can beat him to a pulp. He has to be smart.

Anyways, here is to hoping that without Gwen to carry him in the third movie that Peter will show some smarts.

Got back from watching it not long ago. Quick review because I'm dead on my feet.

I was very impressed. I agree with Andro, it just felt like Spider-Man in like every way. Yeah, I had some issues here and there with the romance drama and stuff, but it didn't really get in the way. The biggest issue I had was with the Goblin at the end.

EDIT: Okay, forget what I said before, what I really think it needed while keeping the rest of the movie intact was just a longer fight scene before Harry went after Gwen. Maybe that would've felt like too much fighting with the Electro fight just before that, but I think it would've helped. Also maybe at least one more scene of Harry and Peter interacting normally before the "I want your blood" thing started.

Electro was really good, but I think they could've found a better way for him to get the name. It was pretty out of nowhere. Also the part where he's like making dubstep "music" at the power station was odd too.

But all that aside, I thought it was the best Spider-Man movie by far, and just a really good superhero movie in general. It really felt like the Spider-Man universe was brought to life.

I wonder now Peter knows the secret behind his father's science, could he perfect the science behind it for other stuff? Create a cure to fully heal curt and max to perfectly healed baseline humanity with no side effects, the same for harry. We know the spider venom makes a poor hybrid by itself, but in peter it just made him cool. What would a peter-stable version of the lizard and electro be like?
The lizard would have the great ability to smell, regeneration and claws, with the ability to climb walls and greatly enhanced strength. The electo version of petter, I doubt he could go fully electricity, but able to absorb and expel power, drain it and produce it. He too could breath under water, and activly control the illumination of his skin.
Any chance peter could gain the powers of a spider, lizard and eel, or would his body not be able to tolerate it all.

So who do we think the sinister six will be?
We saw a suit for doc ock, the vulture, we know there is a rhino, goblin and electro and the lizard. SO we have 6 villain right there. I am kind of sad if there will be no shocker he is cool. The way i see it they will all be hybrids or suits, so many possibilities.

Saw it today. I thought it was okay. Jamie Foxx was by far the best part of the movie, even with all his cliche'd lines.

Best part of this movie for was that Spiderman felt like hero who inspired others and not by being arbitarly told of it as fact but actually shown doing things like giving a kind word to a stranger, reparing a little kids project etc.
