Isn't the Doornishman's Wife at least raunchy? Not sure about sad or grim but certainly bawdy.

Not like the people who watch the show will ever know any other song but Rains of Castamere.

Still sad to see they cut out Symon Silver Tongue and his song from the show

Since we're on the topic of bards has anyone noticed there is no Marillion. Question is, who's going to be the patsy in Eyrie? From the promo of ep. 7 we can guess that Lysa will try to make Sansa fly...

They'll either introduce him in this week's episode or just use some completely irrelevant character. Since we're now speaking of bards and all, I wonder if they're going to cut Tom o' Sevens too.

    Doubt it.
Dammit, I wish they would use more money on casting interesting characters instead the parade of tits and naked bodies we're served. Five less nakid birds could net us a cameo from someone like Patchface or Tom o' Seven Strings.

God, how I hated those. I don't ever recall reading about so many sex scenes in the books, but apparently they gotta show that many times over in the TV series because otherwise their main audience might miss the implications and hints that Renly was gay and that Oberyn was promiscuous.

Ros wasn't even a character in the books, was she? I forget, it's been a long time since I read them.

It shows the corruption of society. Look at who is whoring around, look at when and how they do it, and when they stop. TV is not a book, it is not as easy to show subtle shades in characters, how do you show that the grand maester is corrupt in everyway, have him sleaze on a 14 year old whore. How do you show how fucked up the Lannester twins are, have them fuck each other. Its not the only way to show it true, and its not the only technique they use. Then compare them to the characters who arent whoring around, who uphold honor and virtue.

So no, I dont mind it so much.

Yes and no, but they also add unnecessary characters, like the girl Myranda who hangs around with Ramsay. Why the hell is she in the show?

I'm already dreading the amount of slash fics depicting and expanding the bath scene from Dreadfort. Like we haven't had enough of Theon/Ramsay shit on AO3, now we'll get to see them bathing one another. Ugh.

It doesn't help either that they cast someone rather good looking as Ramsay. I mean, I like the guy and how he plays the part, but that's simply not how Ramsay Snow ought to look. Or behave. The Myranda character just came out of nowhere.

Have they even mentioned in the show that Ramsay already had a Reek from before? And then there's the Lady Hornwood issue, which is never brought up in the show, whom Ramsay had forcibly married, locked up in a room and forgot to feed her. When they found her corpse, they'd also found out she chewed her own fingers off.

The show version of Ramsay, quite simply, doesn't quite reach that level of monstrosity. I suppose they didn't want to trouble too much of their audience by Ramsay raping the girl he chased down with his dogs and then flaying her alive.

I'd imagine the sheer amount of evil shit people get away with would trouble a lot of ppl.

Do they portray Ramsay negatively in the show at all? Besides the theon/reek business, and i find it hard to sympathise with theon anyway.

Theon isnt nearly as broken as I would have liked, in the Books he goes grey/white, looses multiple fingers and toes and teeth. At the moment he seems more mentally cowed then physically.

But the thing that still annoys me more than anything else, is the costumes, in the books they make a big deal to show the extravagent clothes the nobles wear, it shows the huge difference between rich and poor. The Kingsguard are supposed to be in enamled white armor and pure white cloaks... in the show you can bearly tell who is kings guard in a crowd of soilders, they should glow like the fucking sun. I saw a making of that said they dilerberatly played down the colors and cloths to make them seem worn... these are nobles., they dont wear "worn" cloths!

The strongest mental images I formed in my mind when reading were the striking clothing and armor people wore, The kingguard in pure white, Tywin in Gold and Red gleaning armor, Lord Ravensomething from the Riverlands in a cloak of jet black ravens feathers. In the show only the Starks look the part because they were always said to wear subdued practical cloths, and that their knights stood out for looking so common in tournaments.

Well, they (Ramsay and Myranda) do chase down that girl with dogs and then watch as the dogs rip her apart, so yeah, I'd imagine that counts.

They haven't even mentioned that the Hornwood heir died protecting Robb(The Battle of Whispering Forest? If I remember correctly). So no, we haven't seen anything that would paint Ramsay as the evil shit he truly is. In the books he became an even bigger monster the Gregor-fucking-Clegane(Jeyne Poole anyone?). Instead we see a lot of show Ramsay prancing around without his shirt. He's the Jacob Black(Twilight movie) of Game of Thrones.

The actor is also all wrong, book Ramsay was fugly and they gave us a heartthrob so that all the brats can sigh and get cow-eyed.

EDIT: The fight with the ironborn was so much bullshit. In books Ramsay is pants at fighting. Roose even said, "He swings that swords like a butcher swings his knife." and reflects that no one really taught Ramsay how to fight. But in the last episode he's so much boss that he didn't even get a scratch despite fighting without armor.

This and this is how I see Ramsay.

Yeah, that was pretty horrible. When she begs Theon to help her, it's heart-wrenching, you can practically feel her fear:

And then later on this happens:

"'No. This is some trick. It's him, it's my... my lord, my sweet lord, he sent you, this is just some test to make sure that I love him. I do, I do, I love him more than anything.' A tear ran down her cheek. 'Tell him, you tell him, I'll do what he wants...or whatever he wants...with him...or...or with the dog or...please...he doesn't need to cut my feet off, I won't try to run away, not ever, I'll give him sons, I swear it, I swear it...'"

You just can't get the same urge to kill show-Ramsay as the one you get from the books.

They(the directors) are chickening out with the show and that's all. Which is a pity because it cheapens the story. In ep. 6 we had that scene with Drogon, the goatherd and the goats. I was so waiting for that one, especially after they teased us with that scene in the trailers. And what happens? It's only the goats that get crisped. Of course we cannot have Daenerys losing control over her dragons. Her dragons are so smart that they only eat that what runs on four limbs, as long as you're upright and walk on two legs you're golden, no dragon will eat you.

So instead of showing Dany dealing with a crisped kid all she has to do is give the man some gold and problem solved, god forbid she actually had to deal with a Real problem.

Still waiting for the Fifty Shades of Daario to commence.

Getting back to Ramsay, these two pics are pretty much spot on. I'm very fond of this one myself: Click me

And this one is the new Aegon with his sisters by Amok.

In both cases it's partially because of practical reasons.

Theon isn't as broken physically as in the books because his appearance is not necessary to tell what happened to him since the show decided to let the audience witness it firsthand. That way they don't need to put a lot of makeup on Alfie Allen who then can showoff his talent by playing his character's psychological damage without any help from props.

As for the clothes, they did it for the same reason why Essos' culture lack in colorfulness. They needed to ground it for the modern audience to avoid anyone making fun of it. It may not appear that way now, but when it started GoT was a very risky project financially and they needed to make it more "safe". Hence why they went for a generic movie medieval aesthetics with its tame colors and not standing out clothes.

If they ever do remake they will probably do it more like in the books to distinguish it from the previous adaptation.

    Tyrion

    Roose

    Daario

    There, all done.

I think this is just the very start of her Meereen rule. I imagine they might pull the scene from the books in one of the last two episodes. I say "I imagine" but in truth, it's "I hope", because I'm not expecting anything good at all from D&D.

A friend started skipping Dany chapters because of this shit. Granted, the character is still in her teenage years, what with hormons and everything, but come the fuck on, GRRM, that's not why I'm reading your books.

Seen it before, love the style.

It's not just colors that they take out of the show. It's armors and weapons in certain cases. In other cases, it's the reverse. Like seeing Tormund and other wildlings going around with finely crafted iron weaponry. How the hell does that happen?

Wasn't it explained in the book that there were smugglers who traded with the Free Folk? They'd bypass East Watch by the Sea and sail further north to trade with FF?

The costumes are a budget thing so I ignore it, though, they seem to have fund for all the porn starlets showing up and I read somewhere that we'd be seeing more actresses from the adult industry cast in minor roles. So yeah, maybe they could splurge on new dresses for the handmaidens instead of dressing them all in the same uniform-gown. It's like bridesmaids of King's Landing at times there. Same clothes, same hairdos.

I loled pretty hard during those chapters but what can I say I like watching Daeneyrs make an idiot of herself.

Oh god, not again. Why? What the fuck else is there to require so many sex scenes? I suppose though that they need someone like that for the Taena Merryweather role. Invasion of Myrish swamp impending.

For that particular pleasure, I just reopen AFFC and re-read Cersei chapters. Nothing beats those.

There aren't that many Night's Watch brothers beyond the Wall for them to be equipped on such a large scale... are there?
