Title: Harry Potter Becomes A Communist
    Author: HardcoreCommie
    Rating: M
    Genre: Parody
    Status: WIP
    Library Category: Humor
    Pairings: Harry/Communism
Summary: Over the summer, Harry read "The Communist Manifesto". Now, he returns to Hogwarts a changed person.
    Link: FanFiction.Net

Exactly as the title describes, this story is like the legendary 30Hs, except on Communist crack.

I think anyone mildly interested in politics will find this stitch-inducingly hilarious.

I also posted this in Almost Recommended, and here are some reviews:

It's an... interesting concept, to say the least, but I found it quite dull in execution. It invoked mild bemusement at best, with no real laugh-out loud moments. I only read the first ten chapters, but unless it dramatically increased in quality I wouldn't read on.

That said, 'bourgeoisly' is my new favourite adverb. Still not enough to rescue it. Let's say 2.5/5, with points gained for the idea and not absolute shitness, but points removed for having too little humour for a crack story, but too little of anything else to be any other genre. Rounded down.

tl:dr, on the low end of Almost Recommended.

Someone posted this in IRC a while ago and since then I've been trying to fit bourgeoisly into as many sentences as possible. I bourgeoisly give it 3/5 because it just gets old after a few chapters.

Sorry, not even remotely funny. This is terrible. Couldnt even read chapter two it was so bad. Although him having the hammer & sickle sounded cool on his forehead. Thats a new one to me.

Great ideia, bad execution. His style is repetitive and writing clunky, he seems to know very little about communism to make it believable. 2.3/5 down to 2. The cover is awesome though.

    1. Harry cursing like a sailor every sentence. It does nothing but make him (and the author) come out as immature children.

    2. Everyone in Hogwarts are surprisingly aware of the Cold War, and are all literal mindless sheep.

    3. Hogwarts inexplicably turning into a corporate-run place.

    4. It reads across more like some angry teen trying to be cool by saying he's Communist (even though he knows absolutely nothing about it).

    5. Communists in Hogwarts was already done. In Chapter 10 of Thinking in Little Green Boxes, Harry converted the entire Hufflepuff House into Communists. It was a lot funnier.

    Agreed. It's damn annoying.

Nah, he seems more like anti-communist troll. And someone who thinks uber-strawmans and saying as ponctuation is funny. Or he is just a troll. Equally possible.

At first I found it hilarious. Especially the early chapters.

It was also funny to see Harry point out how hawt a girl was one sentence only to drive through with the next on how he would be ignoring her because he was so Comrade.

I just couldn't continue with it after a while. It grew stale and nothing seemed to happen.

    No Rating.

Uh yea, obviously a parody. As an indication, the authors notes have a hell of a lot of mistakes (typos, syntax, grammar) while the story itself doesn't. I coudn't tell which political side he's on either, he's bashing communism by obviously faulty arguments for it, liberalism by making them hypocrites and anarchism by making them ridiculous. He also switches between playing it straight but blunt, letting Mcgonnogal, Hermione or whoever be the straight man wondering what the hell is going on and defending a cause with faulty arguments.

Overall hilarious, but not something I'd reread and I understand why it could grow stale for people.

3/5 I suppose, it IS enjoyable and unique.

I see what author is trying here, but at least for me "LOL, they are stupid, LOL" is not my favourite type of humour. Also - 28 chapters with less than 12k words?

"Pairings: Harry/Communism" is funnier than this story.

    Tedious, unfunny nonsense.

The author is trying to parody a particular kind of teenage 'rebel', but he comes across as spiteful rather than clever - he doesn't appear to actually have anything to say about the people he's trying to mock other than 'ha ha they r so dumb'. Maybe it's actually a cunning satire of itself, but somehow I doubt it.

Citizen Smith did it a thousand times better in the seventies - you know, back when Communism and wannabe-Communists were actually relevant and worthy of satire.

Can we please just let this die?

Seriously, even the premise of "Communists in Hogwarts" was done before, and better in "Thinking in Little Green Boxes". It isn't even the main plot point, and doesn't happen for a while, but when it does show up it's pretty damn funny.

I have to agree with the majority. Early chapters had me laughing, but it quickly snowballed into a pile of unremarkable cursing.

2.5/5. Thread rating 2. 30Hs was some 2700 words long and it brought something new with every chapter which is why the absurdity there worked the entire length of the fic. This is 11k words of swearing and Che Guevara t-shirt.

This fic was enormously disappointing for me to read, primarily because if the author had bothered to put any effort into writing it, it could have been funny.

A rather good fic, I'd say, and I'll give it a 4/5 for now. Can't really agree with the people criticizing it for being stale, for while it often comes dangerously close to repetition, the author always puts in a new source of conflict when this happens, as may be exemplified by the anarchists and the Trotskyites.

I doubt this story will ever reach a satisfactory conclusion, however, and while it is good, it still isn't anything spectacular.

Comrades, I rest my case. Though your titties, manly and womanly, are wonderful Comrades - I am not distracted from the cause by your beauty.

Would it be okay for me to write a story: "Harry becomes a National Socialist."?

Because it would be just as offensive as this story is...

I get the humour, but this goes beyond humour. It is just so terrible.
