There's a crusader kings 2 aar on Paradox forums about the son of Ramsay Snow and "Arya Stark". The Flayed Wolf, I think.

Why are you even surprised at this point that a Tully fucking shit remains a Tully fucking shit? In any case, of the latest chapters of "So Soars..." I liked the Jaime one best, where he confronts his Aunt Genna about Tywin's fate.

Also, really starting to hate how he's handling Lyanna so far, because she has suffered actual nil consequences for herself up to this point, and I think that upon arrival to Winterfell, Ned's going to be forgiving with her like Benjen was.

So soars... started with interesting premise and then turned shit, with constant updates, muliple short chapters that could be combined into two longer ones, multiple POV that don't add anything meanigful and making this fic almost a fix-fic with good guys triumphant (Starks) and bad guys punished (Lannisters).

Also, Odran, tone down that Tully hatred. We get it, you don't like them, and you think Cattelyn Tully is a stupid cunt, but for fucks sakes, it starts to sound like the usual Weasley bashing we find in HP fandom.

So not worth picking up again? I gave up after the first 15 or so chapters, I take it that it doesn't get any better.

The story is meandering somewhere. But where it is that it wants to go? Your guess is as good my. It's a fix-it fic, that tries really hard not to look like a fix-it fic.
Lyanna chapters are a mixed bag.
Jaime reminds me more of the Jaime from later in the canon.
Catelyn chapters are so fuckin' redundant it's disgusting. She doesn't like Jon. We know it. We get it. And then the author beats the dead horse some more.
Doran is so motivated and smug that he isn't Doran at all.
Add a number of completelly useless chapters because the author has to micromanage and show everything and you get So Soars...
No, Brukel, you aren't missing anything.
Edit: Oh, yeah, I almost forgot. Idiot ball is in play from time to time as plot-device, stuff happens.

OK, just finished watching the latest episode of GoT. Are there any fics where Oberyn wins his fight with Clegane, lives to tell the tale and gets Tyrion to Dorne?

Hey, the Weasleys at least had Bill and the twins, the Tullys are all annoying shits except for the Blackfish.

The Weasleys, as a whole rather than just one individual, never reached the levels of detest that the Tullys, all save Brynden and possibly Edmure, tend to inspire in me. Even so, Ron was never really that unlikeable as Lysa and Catelyn manage to be. If we knew a bit more about Hoster Tully, save that he is alike Walder Frey in regard for alliances (foisting his sloppy seconds daughter, Lysa, onto Jon Arryn in exchange for support and still forcing Ned Stark to wed Catelyn, someone who was promised to his brother, is something utterly vulgar), I'm sure I'd come to dislike him as well.

Anyhoo, when the Tullys stop being so shit or go completely extinct (which, looking at the official books, they're accomplishing swiftly and surely), I'll stop expressing my vehement dislike for them. Somehow, I think the latter is more likely to occur.

All good arguments. It's still a bit curious, because ASOIAF is a setting that has much more loathsome characters than the Tullys.

"Forcing Ned Stark to create a binding legal or at least dynastic bond with him so that I'll help him avoid death at the risk of my own hide" is utterly vulgar? Or is it SOP? Didn't the Tyrells bounce Margaery from one husband to another?

Just as importantly: did it not work, for decades? I mean, the bond was quite helpful to everyone.

Was it? Robb was chillin' in Winterfell while Lannisters raped Riverlands, no fucks were given by North or Vale. He only called his banners when they threw Ned into dungeon.

    Me thinks Hoster miscalculated.

Robb was a boy at the time, it took something big to get him down south.

Also: I don't think calculation works that way. I think you get a pass if two of your three allies die (with no mature heirs), your daughter goes insane and a young boy takes the time to sit still because he's not in charge of the army AND the child of one of your other allies starts acting against you. He's a noble, not God.

Until Ned was kidnapped he was working on a plan: get the info to Robert while fortifying to prevent Tywin getting to the North. If Robert had not been decisive then he could have done more. WTF would Robb do? He's just the heir until Ned was captured, the bannermen certainly weren't taking orders from him until their national honor was sullied and their lord seized.

But 90% of the time their relationship was smooth.
