I'm curious though, what's got you so dead-set against me? The fact that I can be vocal with my opinions or that I dislike certain things that you like?

 

I'm guessing it's the fact that you have almost 130~ posts on this thread, when the second most frequent poster is 80~.

 

Or the fact that your being "vocal with my opinions" is just plain boring and doesn't add anything meaningful to the discussion. We don't want to read post#666 about how the Tullys are the cancer that is killing /b/ or how Lyanna and Rhaegar are retarded. We know that you don't like them, you don't have to remaind us, every fucking time.

We want some fucking stories, or ideas for stories.

 

I still don't understand why it would bother anyone. It's not like I'm angling to amp up my post-count or anything, the posts simply happen in the course of the thread.

How many times have I truly gone off about Tullys? At most five or six times, all aimed at story-relevant (of the stories posted here) characters. I don't just bring it out of nowhere, in the middle of some completely different discussion.

Whenever a fic that's recommended here pops up with that kind of thing, I will comment though whenever I deem it appropriate. I criticize that not because I personally dislike the characters, hating fictional characters serves little point really, but for how usually the theme of writing them goes on about. That's what I have an issue with, nothing more.

I posted more than a few, though more of the former than the latter. Had I posted nothing but criticisms of other's stories all the time, without ever posting any story recommendation in the thread, I could understand this complaint, but I didn't.

In the end, should you still find me so irritant, there's the option to either outright ignore my posts or put me on the ignore list. No one is really forcing you to read my posts or derail the thread with this kind of talk. Hell, one of you could have simply sent a PM and we could have talked it over, but apparently you see this as a better way of trying to resolve things.

 

How about this? Unless it is to specifically suggest a new story (updates to already suggested stories don't count) or to comment on a newly suggested story (again, updates don't count), shut the fuck up.

This thread is under 'story search'. If you want conversation, start a different thread. Or better yet, go to IRC and yap endlessly.

None of these are upper tier fics, but I found them to be good time wasters and not make me want to cut myself.

Basically as the summary says. YMMV because of the OC main character. Jon and Lysa are able to get a child during the first bedding. Olyvar is the same age as Robb. Where the story fails is that it sticks too closely to canon. You'd think that with the Vale in the war that things would be changed drastically, but for the most part ASOS changes very little. The author said that ACOK will be where the story starts to really deviate. For an OC Olyvar isn't to bad. In the beginning he was a bit annoying, but he turns out okay for an OC.

This is an interesting take on how things could've turned out. Rhaegar is able to kill Robert on the Trident, but Rhaegar is injured so badly that he dies not too long after leaving Aegon VI as a child king. Aegon turns out to be a bit bratty and meek, but we start to see him come out of his shell and try to be a king. However, the later chapters go full retard imo and let me down.

This is a really cool idea. The Starks form closer relationships with the Targaryens and are much more involved with the Blackfyre rebellions. It started out promising, but after a while I felt that things started to grow really stale. It seemed at times that we were retreading the same things over and over with no consequence in the story. I think there's a sequel up too.

In this story Ned is late getting to the Tower of Joy. Lyanna dies and the Kingsguard take Jon and flee to Essos to raise him with Dany and Viserys. It's only two chapters at the moment so it's too early to tell, but it seems like it'll be well written.

There's a Ghost in my Lungs by crossfirehurricane

In this story Lyanna survives giving birth to Jon and runs away with him before Ned shows up. She raises Jon in Essos for years before returning home and begging Ned to take her in. This story isn't for Lyanna or Robert fans.

Of Sand and Snow by lj_todd

Basically, Oberyn is caught giving Lyanna a kiss at Harrenhall. Given Oberyn's reputation Rickard Stark is afraid that Lyanna will be seen as damaged good so he breaks the betrothal to Robert and demands that Oberyn marry Lyanna.

Like I said they aren't spectacular, but I think some of you might find some enjoyment out of them.

On a side note: Has anyone ever seen a fic where Jon doesn't get assassinated and is able to lead an army against Ramsay?

It's pretty good actually. OC isn't wanked like they usually are, and is quite likeable.

 

I would read the hell out of a crackfic in which Jon Arryn lives by the motto of his family and is high as a kite the whole time.

Presumably when that "A World of Ice and Fire" thing comes out this October, we can expect a few fics to pop out about that time period, at the very least.

Oh and for those who don't know, that "A Dragon of the North" fic that was written on SpaceBattles has been moved to a different site now and there has been a few updates since the 109th.

I noticed that a lot of people are leaving SpaceBattles for that site all of a sudden. Did something happen to piss them all off?

 

Something about drive space, if I understood correctly. Not that I know a single thing about it.

 

Spacebattles servers are aging badly and the admins had been forced to cut services on the forums (search engine, new users, etc...) for years now because the owner is MIA. With more and more crashes and slowdowns because of how huge the site is, how significant the traffic is, etc... people have been more and more upset.

A few weeks ago a really popular transgender mod got fired and the admins made up some bullshit excuses as to why. She came in, told everyone what happened and everyone literally went apeshit over it. Half a dozen mods quit in solidarity, someone set up SV for an exodus in response, and people started jumping over. It wasn't anything serious though after the signups from the first few days trailed off, or at least that was the case until a few days ago when Spacebattles was on the verge of a server collapse. Pretty much everyone who had an RPG running or a story in writing jumped ship crazy quick and put there stuff there. It's got more space than SB, more options and such as well and is far more responsive to the voices of the users.
