I would be amazed if there was no "zone" for magical travel on the platform. By that logic magical travel is dangerous almost anywhere there are people.

Magic seems to find a way though, you can't apparate into people.

 

One person falling is ok, like when Bill fell on an old lady. But all instances of porkey that included more than 2 people was done in open places.

 

Right, there MAY be issues that MAY or may not be fixable. The point was, the ministry using cars is really kind of silly and demonstrates JKR's initial difficulty separating the worlds.

This is still easier to swallow, considering it happened before Snape treated Harry the way he did, than fics where James and Lily appear to Snape, from beyond the grave, and James grovels and apologizes for how he treated Snape in school. Or, alternatively, they appear to Harry and James asks Harry to apologize to Snape for him.

Are you fucking kidding me?

At least when it's twenty-year-old James apologizing in a letter, he hasn't presumably spent the last seven years watching Snape be a complete dick to Harry and, at the very least, criminally negligent in regard to Sirius's death!

But, for a James Potter who is fully aware of what Snape has been up to, especially regarding Harry, to still feel the need to appear from the afterlife to suck Snape's dick? Fuck you, fic writer; Fuck you write in your ungodly, cavernously empty, misguided, skull. :fire

It should go without saying that any sympathy Lily might have had for Snape should have gone out the window as well, by that point.

Didn't Snape harass Sirius and make him feel useless and that was one of the reasons Sirius joined the fight at the ministry?

 

I believe he delayed in relaying Harry's message? Can't remember exactly.

You can tell I'm uninsured, because this is what made me go, "Really? Free healthcare for the Wizarding World is canon?!"

 

He what? I don't remember that happening at all. I remember Harry blaming Snape for something, but he's hardly unbiased when it comes to his Potion professor, so I take that with a grain of salt.

 

I quickly found a reference that says Harry BELIEVES Snape delayed the message. Too lazy to go deeper and find out if he actually did though. But I do remember something like that.

 

Snape didn't delay the message, Harry told Snape about Sirius in the presence of Umbridge so he couldn't show any reaction which lead Harry to think that Snape wouldn't alert the order even though Snape did warn the order as soon as he went out off Umbridge's sight.

I wish Harry showed a bit more common sense in canon. :facepalm

 

Yeah I'm really not sure if it was delayed, I could believe either way.

I wish Harry wasn't useless in canon Well, at least in 7. (I'm still mad he's a worthless hero).

 

He is so average, which is why he is awesome and terrible st the same time.

Does anyone see Lily and James abandoning any of their children? It never makes sense in fanfics. Even the Dursleys never kicked out Harry.

EDIT: I get pretty annoyed that in almost every fic. The characters don't act their age.

You kind of have to just deal with it because it's so rare that it DOESN'T happen. But 11 year olds acting 20, same for 12 and 13. What the fuck. Don't get me started on 11 year olds falling in love, or worse, talking about being in love. What?

 

So Scrubb, I will try harder to stay on topic.

But it isn't very fun reading about 11 year-olds.

Pet peeve: Making sirius out to be this loveable puppy. I do love Sirius, but he is mean, vicious and slightly unbalanced.

 

It's not fun, but they ARE 11. It just seems so out of character. Which is one of the reasons I don't think I have a favourite fic that starts before the start of fifth year.

EDIT: No wait, that's a lie. There's a number of good fourth year and onwards fics. Because the tournament was such a great event. It's very easy to rewrite that year very well.

Example, The Lie I've Lived.

 

But Harry isn't exactly acting his age in that either. Kind of a poor choice if you were trying to make a point about that.

 

He's not a 14 year old Harry though. It wasn't an example of a story where he acts his age, I was just trying to damage control my statement that there were no good stories pre year 5. Kind of went overboard.
