Essentially mediocre story that tries to mask with a lot of 'shock' content, IMO. I enjoyed Akame ga Kill back when it first started getting scanlated, but the novelty wore thin pretty quickly.

 

New Claymore was fun, but mostly setup for this coming fight.

Do you think it'll end after this fight? Or will they do another timeskip perhaps?

 

I feel like it's in a pretty good spot to end, but there's the whole mainland war going on, and the fact that the Claymore place is just a small test island to create super soldiers, so it could go on for a good, good while.

 

If it went on then there'd be a bit of a disparity between the 'power' of Clare/Teresa and the rest of the Claymores. Enemies on the continent would either be easily crushed by her or way out of the league of the rest of the cast.

 

That mainland stuff always felt more like background business to me. I doubt they'll be any involvement with the mainland other than a suggestive epilogue and a possible sequel. This story's all about this land.

Winner was good, but bathroom scene was questionable. Unnecessary "soft" loss and hype for the future.

 

Well, it's obvious that they were going to do something to let Tadokoro come out looking strong in an event like this. I have no problem with it. Like it or not, she is one of the central characters and it doesn't make a lot of sense to outright crush her. I'm just happy enough to (seemingly, at least) have her out of the way for the rest of this arc. Far more interested in Souma and his eventual showdown with the yakuza Elite Ten guy.

So, I got sucked into Berserk the other day. I'm sitting around chapter 200 right now, and I just wanted to pop in and say fuck the Eclipse Arc.

It could have been literally anyone else and I would have been fine with it, but no! NO! Not only did Jesus Hawk condemn every single one of his friends to death- days after they saved his life, mind you- but he raped Casca into god damn insanity! Into insanity! And the worst part? The worst part!? She might not ever be Casca again, and even if she will, it could be another decade before I get to see it! YGFYTUDKHJCGUDCIH

Ahem. In conclusion: Fuck the Eclipse Arc.

I know you think you do. I'm sure you're very positive about your emotions towards him. You are convinced beyond any shadow of a doubt that you absolutely hate Griffith.

You remember that thing that happened in Final Fantasy VI? Where the good guys did this huge long plot where people died, and there was this epic struggle to save the world, and then right out of the blue, the bad guy won? Just completely fucking won? Just slam dunk victory, fuck your shit losers, game the fuck over, I win, end Act 1? Remember that shit? Do you remember that shit?

Is anyone else getting hype about Hunter X Hunter?

That it's back at all is enough of a reason on it's own, but the direction it's being taken in. Oh god. Oh god yes. Just politics and death and murder and psychopaths and a dark world full of Toriko-tier bullshit minus any of the lightheartedness or nutritional content.

I love the "beyond the boundaries of what we have claimed as our world lies a remainder that is too dangerous to even attempt to traverse" concept as a fictional trope. It just pushes all of my buttons. And Hunter X Hunter is the only manga I know about that's taking that concept completely and utterly seriously. Toriko is too lighthearted for it to remain very grim for long, though it has gotten more serious with time, and the same could be said for One Piece.

But Hunter X Hunter isn't exactly lighthearted. It's got all the grit and grime of the real world. And that's why I'm so happy. It's a serious look at a concept I love, being worked into one of the greatest modern serial manga being written, by an artist and writer that I admire.

Tell me you aren't hype for this. I fucking dare you. The closing of the chapter on the era of the Big Three opens with a reignition of Hunter X Hunter's Dark World and a recommencement of Berserk as a monthly publication, with One Piece still going strong and getting stronger.

The only way this could get any better is if D.Grey-Man came back and Akamatsu started working on something new on the same tier as Negima.

I still find the idea of the current situation to be a little cheap but it's pretty clearly what Yagi had planned from the beginning. I'm definitely enjoying it, regardless.

 

Berserk always reminded me of Claymore- except with more rape, and no redemption.
