Bleach hasn't been meaningfully symbolic for five arcs.

Care to elaborate on it? Because I have most certainly missed most of it if there has been any. But that might well be because I see reading Bleach nowadays as watching a train wreck. It's horrible but you still can't turn your head away.

Okay. First of all? No. Bleach is not "3deep5u." The last bit of meaningful symbolism that wasn't fucking stupid and unnecessary wankery happened at the end of the Soul Society Arc. You might make an argument for one or two things in the Arrancar Arc, but even that's the furthest you can go.

"Oh look Aizen is an evil butterfly" except that's fucking stupid and nobody gives a shit. Nothing past Ulquorra's death has been meaningfully symbolic in any way in the slightest. And even that was debatable.

Secondly? You don't get to have an opinion on this. You don't get to defend Bleach with legitimacy while sporting a Bleach avatar. You're literally walking around with a giant neon sign around your neck proclaiming your bias.

This is why arguments with you turn vicious. Don't be a dick.

I'm sorry, but if somebody is going to say they can't fucking stand to even look at anything that's related to Nintendo and have a Pikachu avatar, or if somebody is just going to insist that a manga has so much artistic merit that people who disagree are simply too plebeian to comprehend it when they have something from that manga in their avatar, I'm going to point and laugh at it.

I'm not going to pretend to not see that. I will never, ever pretend to not to see that sort of pretentious nonsense. I will always point it out, and I will always laugh at it.

And yet you keep quoting me out of context, like you just can't fucking let it go.

You remind me of myself three years ago, back when I constructed all these elaborate theories and citations that tied shit from Naruto into Japanese mythology and Journey to the West.

Of course, the difference between you and me is that I eventually realized and acknowledged that I was desperate to find some sort of overarching theme or deeper meaning in something that did not have anything of the sort, and what tenuous connections I found were there only through a combination of universal cultural themes and the fact that, when you look for something hard enough, you tend to find it even if it was never there to begin with.

Want me to bust out my notes and regale you with how well that turned out?

Not that it's even necessary. I mean, even ignoring the fact that I expressly said I didn't want that to happen, you're still getting butthurt over a ship. A ship that isn't even a ship, because, as I'll keep reminding you in the doomed hope you'll actually pay attention, I don't ship that. I just know Tite will do it because he's lazy. And yet you're getting mad about it.

Spoiler alert: no one gives a fuck. Especially not Tite Kubo. He'll do whatever the fuck he feels like doing at the time. He's been doing it for about two hundred and fifty chapters.

Also, "pattern" is not a synonym for "symbolism." Please learn the difference.

    Please do.
How am I the one who can't let it go when the moment it gets dropped you bring it back up?

That . . . was awful. If we hadn't FINALLY gotten to see Yoruichi, I would've wanted those fifteen minutes of my life back.

But we finally got to see Yoruichi again. Worth it.

Ichigo has blushed at the sight of big tits before. Doing so in Orihime's presence (as opposed to Yoruichi's or Matsumoto's) does not a ship make.

His connection to Rukia is far deeper and more emotionally binding.

Oh well... That's like predicting that it will rain at some point this month. Of course it will be right. I thought that he had, had a real epiphany.

It would be like Harry suddenly deciding in CoS that he likes Ginny the fangirl. He has currently made none of the overtures she has. It's rather like Hinata and Naruto, except that to my recollection Orihime hasn't been as open about it.

The only thing it has going for it is that Urahara seems to have planned it. And we all know 'bout Urahara's plans.

EDIT: Notice, for instance, that Ichigo didn't notice until Chad drew his attention to it. So we know who's really interested (Chad, Ishida). What Yoruichi said basically amounts to "come on dude, throw her a bone."

All that drama shit about how the symbolism was going over my head and I was simply being the plebest of plebs, and then it happens in the very next chapter.

That's got to sting. I almost feel bad for you.

You'd think it would be obvious, wouldn't you? It's not even like it's hard to figure out who a main character will end up attached to by the end of this sort of thing.

    But apparently some people.

I am personally a Rukia/Ichigo fan, but I think at this point it's a 50/50 Ichigo/Inoe at the end. I don't think Kubo is particularly interested in romance.
